| Cynric03-12-06, 09:00 PM | Just a Quick question. My Cleric (going for Radiant servant) has just reached sixth level. I have glorious wepaons and I qualify in all ways for the PrC. However, I do not know what feat to take now. I do not really want to take the typical feat of Augment Healing, so I have come to these options. Any suggestions or opinions would be good. 1 Reach Spell (do not need to go into combat to heal the fighter) 2 Leadership (Bard Cohort) 3 Quicken Spell (sets up Divine Metamagic Quicken at 9th) 4 Divine Spellpower (Caster level Bump) 5 Anything else some one can suggest |

It takes up a spell slot two levels higher and becomes a ray which can miss...Divine Meta-Magic might make it worth while though. 2 Leadership (Bard Cohort) This is a good option if you don't have a full table most of the time. Add a few levels of Marshal and he will be a great party aid! I have seen this done and let me tell you it does work well... 3 Quicken Spell (sets up Divine Metamagic Quicken at 9th) This one will eventually become good and is going to depend on how may Turn Attemps you have in a day. This will take five to power so one spell maybe two. Plus for 3 levels you will have a none useful feat since it takes up a spell 4 slots higher so a 7th you could use a 4th level slot to power an Orizon! (I can Create Water and put out campfires as a free action! :P Sorry couldn't resist) This will become a useful combo after 9th level when you take DMM...I would recomend that you push your cha high and/or take Extra Turning at 12th. 4 Divine Spellpower (Caster level Bump) Have never used it so I couldn't honestly say...Sounds alright. 5 Anything else some one can suggest Empower and Maximize spell with DMM are good combos also and will work at lower levels....I prefer Empower spell. The only other feat that I would take that will make you atypical would be Spontaneous Summoner. You should fit the requirement of being a Neutral alignment (NG). Hmm... :D Celetial Owl or Unicorn! |

It is to clerics what Power Attack is to greatsword/greataxe fighters. In short, when you have a 5th level Radiant Servant (Glory domain for +2 to turn checks), your requisite 5 ranks in Knowledge (religion), and a charisma of +2 or so, you'll average +1 caster level or better for all your spells. It won't be uncommon to hit +3 caster level. That's the equivalent of Spell Penetration and, sometimes, works like a weaker version of Empower (with no difference in spell level) and Extend wrapped in one. Really, the only question is how as a cleric you can possibly justify refusing to take Divine Spellpower. |

Yeah, I took Augment Healing at 3rd (hey, his nickname is band aid, so sue me) and DSP at 6th. Granted, I mostly find my self using it to boost my cure spells to get a few more hps out of them as none of my bread and butter spells really need the extra time to stay active through the encounter they're cast for. I'm just not sure what my 9th will be. Set up for DMM:Quicken, Sacred Healing, Glorious Weapons, Divine Vigor, another Extra Turning? |
| Lomiat03-14-06, 12:12 AM | I've seen a cleric who healed the entire party after a couple of bad scraps just with 2 turn attempts and Sacred Healing. That can be pretty sweet if you're a Band-Aid with a high CHA. Divine Vigor is also pretty good, if you're a Band-Aid with low hit points. Otherwise, Craft Wondrous Items is probably the most useful feat available for what you have. |
| Cynric03-14-06, 05:49 AM | I do not really want to take Augment Healing. Every wannabe Cheeseweasel around here has done that. I was looing more at the blasting type. Hence Divine quicken so I can blast and heal every turn |
| Lomiat03-14-06, 09:14 AM | At 6th level, if you want to be a blaster cleric, Divine Spellpower is still the way to go. If you're a halfway decent turning cleric, it means you should be casting as an 8th level caster more often than not, sometimes able to cast as a 9th or 10th level caster. The initial feat (Quicken) to head towad DMM: Quicken won't pay off for you until 9th level, and then, unless you take another Extra Turning at 12th (assuming you took one at 1st), you'll only be able to Quicken once or twice a day. Divine Spellpower, on the other hand, you should be able to use pretty much every time you blast. |
