| Shieldhart9108-09-06, 06:32 PM | Because I don't play miniatures, and don't own the Miniatures handbook...anyone want to tell me what the following feats do? I'm clueless as to what Double Hit or Shieldmate does. I gained access to them in a regional adventurer- and I've always wondered what they do. And could anyone tell me what the advantages of having a Thinaeun Elven Lightblade would be? Thanks. |

Has prereqs of Combat Reflexes, TWF and Imp TWF. Shieldmate if you are wielding a shield allows you to give a Shield bonus to nearby allies. +1 for normal shields +2 for tower shields. They have to be adjacent to you and it doesn't stack if they already have a shield bonus. |

Good damage and threat ranges on those things. 2) They can suck the soul of anyone they kill, so you can perma-kill NPCs (though it probably won't matter unless you're playing an interactive). 3) If you die while weilding a Thinuan weapon, the weapons consumes your soul. Having your soul so convieniently stored means, when getting raised/ress'd, fewer material components are needed, halving the cost of said materials. Still not worth the EWP feat and money, imo, but kinda cool. |

There's a thread on this board, a week or so back, about "special materials", in which thinaun gets discussed. IIRC, it came down to this: you'd have to die (and be brought back) several times for the cost of the thinaun weapon to pay for itself. It'd be one thing if you stumbled across a thinaun weapon in a home campaign; at that point, it's a very nice "extra". In LG, where you have to pay "list price" for every item you have, I'm just highly skeptical that it'd be worth it. |

But, the weapon would only hold the soul of the last creature it killed. As soon as the weapon is used to kill something else, the soul that was in it is freed. I can't imagine many characters paying so much for what would essentially be a one-shot use. This is also a problem with being raised. But, it's less likely to be an issue since, in most cases, everyone in the fight already has a weapon and wouldn't be prone to use the one holding your soul. |
