| Nightmare Beast10-13-06, 10:43 AM | Has the Fists of Stone spell been changed. A person in our group said that it has been changed and you don't get the damage bonus but just the attack bonus. Is this correct? If so, can you show me where that is stated. Thanks. |
| solbergb10-13-06, 01:58 PM | It has changed slightly in SC, but it isn't so much that it changed is that it remains poorly written so it is unclear what the strength bonus is intended to do. There are three main schools of though, all of them valid with the RAW, in absence of further clarification in FAQ, dispel confusion, etc. 1. Works only for grapple checks, attacks with natural fist weapon and for "breaking things with fist". 2. As #1, but includes str attack bonus on all attacks using that hand 3. As #3, but includes str attack and damage bonus for all attacks using that hand There is also a school of thought that feels there is no such thing as a str bonus that only applies to one hand, so it applies to all str related activities. This thinking though can apply to any of #1, #2 or #3. Bottom line? If it isn't a grapple check or you punching with the fist (both of which are clearly explained in the spell text) the DM will just make stuff up and you'll have to go along, because it's grey and in LG, the Judge makes the ruling on all grey areas not covered by official rules sources. |
