| Shieldhart9105-19-07, 06:37 PM | Hey folks. I plan on attending Origins and Gencon Indy, except for the fact that I wasn't able to pre-register for either events. Whether or not they are still available or not, I still cannot pre-register: I don't have a credit card or anything, being a minor and all of that. My question to the public is: what's the downsize of this? How long does it usually take to wait in line for either cons? This'll be the first time I go to either events. I also wanted to play in the Undermountain Special, but I don't know if I'll be able to now...=( Someone point me in the right direction? |

How long depends on when, exactly, you go. If you go on Thursday or Friday of either convention (especially if you arrive to register early in the day), the wait might not be too long. If you arrive at noon on Saturday, don't be surprised if it takes you over an hour (possibly well over an hour) just to register. Based on the discussions in recent weeks over the GenCon situation, it's clear that Undermountain and Greyhawk Ruins will be sold out; I wouldn't be surprised if the Core Special is, too. (And, you're likely looking at similar issues with trying to play the one Undermountain module, or the other Core Special, at Origins.) You might be able to still get tickets on-site for some of the "regular" Cores that are being offered at either con...and, your odds may be better if you're able to go early in the con (Thursday or Friday). That said, you'll see a fair number of comments from folks who say that they've been able to show up with generic tickets and get into LG games at both conventions. Dave Christ has indicated that they do try their best to seat as many folks as they can, but there aren't any guarantees. Personal advice: if your primary (or sole) reason to go to either convention is to play LG (particularly the "limited" adventures), and your only option is on-site registration, I'd think twice about going (or, I'd try hard to find a way to pre-register). (Edit: I just noticed, from your post on the GenCon Open Fiesta thread, that you're planning on attending with 3-4 other people. That'll complicate things even more, if you and your friends are *all* looking to play LG on generics. Probably far easier for 1 guy to get seated at a table with a generic ticket (getting into a table with 5 pre-registered people) than a group of 4-5 (in other words, most of a table), probably hoping to play together, and ALL on generics. :( ) |
| Shieldhart9105-20-07, 12:27 AM | Well, they've all pre-registered. They're all well over the age of 18, and I'm just tagging along because I get a free hotel room. Regardless, I suppose I'm stuck buying generic tickets for both events...and crossing my fingers, at any rate. |
| Timlagor05-20-07, 07:00 AM | Is there some reason you can't get them to register you too? |
| Soltares05-20-07, 03:01 PM | Another question on the topic of the Origins LGG games, are they open to non-RPGA members? The Sterich one sounds particularly cool, but I'm not a member, and don't want to waste anyone's time signing up for something I can't play. |

I answered this in your Xen'drik post, but I'll answer here, too. ;) You must be an RPGA member to play. Membership is free, so you will not be wasting your time signing up. Just fill out a card when you get to your first table (or pick one up from HQ before you sit down). Be sure to look over the campaign documents for the various campaigns before you create your characters. | Shieldhart9105-21-07, 12:19 AM | Well, partly because I'm still raising the money. I think I should have all of the cash I need by June 9th, but I didn't know whether or not pre-reg would close. Besides- if I couldn't get the cash in time, I'd hate for them to waste all of that money on me and me not being able to pay them back in a timely fashion. These friends take me everywhere for free- the absolute least I could do for them is give them the cash. But I might have them buy my Origins badge beforehand, if I can- just so I don't have to stand in a line. I might not go to GenCon, since I can't pre-register for events and all of the events I want are sold out ;-; |
