| LGMoses01-09-07, 12:41 AM | what are the punishments for being arrested in Core mods esp. Greyhawk? For regionals? For like... misdemeanor crimes. How many TU's does a person lose? How much gp? etc. |
| bitznarf01-09-07, 01:01 AM | I believe for regionals, that is up to the Triad and/or mod writers/editors. I know for example that crime and punishment are treated quite differently in Dyvers compared Zief compared to The Pale. |
| kenobi6501-09-07, 08:17 AM | I believe for regionals, that is up to the Triad and/or mod writers/editors. Yup...in Verbobonc, we've got an entire rules document on laws and punishments. Don't say nasty things about St. Cuthbert here. :D |

| LachlarlanIII01-09-07, 10:15 AM | Laws? What laws do you speak of? ;) :P |
| Simpi01-09-07, 11:04 AM | what are the punishments for being arrested in Core mods esp. Greyhawk? For regionals? For like... misdemeanor crimes. How many TU's does a person lose? How much gp? etc. Depends on what you do. For example, in our region you could lose your life for serving vile gods such Trithereon. There is a whole set of crimes in "Wanted in Ahlissa" file. I think there is an entire group of people wanted in our region for stealing 50gp from member of the Royal Guild of Merchants of Aerdy. Should they ever be caught, the punishment is 52TU. If they had stolen it from someone unimportant they would get much less but Royal Guild is a major player and takes no crap from anyone, much less from some random sell-swords. | Japangirl01-09-07, 02:23 PM | Laws? What laws do you speak of? ;) :P Seriously. I don't understand! Punishments of TUs and fines of gold? There are penalties other than unrecoverable death in Dorakaa? |
| Lupo01-09-07, 04:06 PM | Laws? What laws do you speak of? ;) :P one of my fellow players will most probably get the status "most wanted" for actions that happened in character but out of game or in game but weren't actually covered by the module. i suspect he has heard to many stories about nessy  you can find TWO of his characters on the local website with special citation :D once for starting a tavern brawl and then mopping up the guards (the character in question is a drunken master). this happened out of game. afterwards the character switched home region ;) and now another of his characters has gotten the special attention of a high ranking official of the region due to a silly action of his character in a module:P (i contacted our triad, explained what he did, and now he has got it :)) ciao martin m. |
| _m_01-09-07, 05:47 PM | i got a 6tu penalty and 1000g fine, and got deported from ratik... |
| clannagh01-09-07, 06:13 PM | i got a 6tu penalty and 1000g fine, and got deported from ratik... and alvin missed a chance to go to Rauxes because of it .. so in fact it cost him a lot more than 6TU and 1000gc .. silly little man that he is |
| _m_01-09-07, 06:36 PM | and alvin missed a chance to go to Rauxes because of it .. so in fact it cost him a lot more than 6TU and 1000gc .. silly little man that he is indeed. fairly miffed about that. still, i guess thats what you get for attacking a paladin. |
| Puggle Halfwine01-09-07, 08:45 PM | Almost every module in Ratik has an "Unreliable" AR consequence. Basically, if you have this, it increases the cost of ALL purchases by 50% and it stacks. So you can have it multiple times. Welcome to Ratik, where you don't die- a sewing needle just costs 100,000gp! |

Welcome to Ratik, where you don't die- a sewing needle just costs 100,000gp! lol its funny that actually, alvin is, without doubt, the LEAST reliable, MOST likely to do something disasterous (what volcano?) character on the planet... and yet somehow, by shear coincidence, just happens to do the right thing in mods with 'unreliable', and be monumentaly catastrophic on the few that dont. interesting, no? |
| Lomiat01-10-07, 12:33 AM | I've got a character wanted by the Council of Lords of the Shield Lands for the "attempted assassination" of a visiting dignitary. So far, the Law's sent nothing more after my wizard than a few disgruntled hack veterans of the Standing Army that haven't been able to Teleport after him when he Teleports away. oooooooh! scary.... So, anyway, how are the Bandit Kingdoms these days? Do you have any need of wizards? I've met Menfri and Morginstaler. The former's quite pleasant, and the latter's fortunate Ray of Stupidity seems to have ceased functioning. I've raided Cranzer's fortress. I hear being a gray elf with the Attention of the Boneheart Null leads to interesting times in the Bandit Kingdoms... |
| Puggle Halfwine01-10-07, 01:29 AM | Oh- my rogue regularly attempts Slight of Hand at the end of Ratik modules. Only been sent to jail once! 6TUs. Ouch. |
| Japangirl01-10-07, 05:54 PM | Wizards are always good in the BK. I also have the notice of Boneheart Null on a rogue. We can dance together for him in the scrying! Let's see, Morginstaler and Cranzer are still evil. The dragon is still, er, romancing anything that moves, and Cranzer is . . . umm . . . still evil. |
| Madfox1101-11-07, 08:33 AM | It happens more often in Adri Lupo ;) In one convention a meta-regional set in Innspa lead to one PC being fined for reckless use of magic and another was punished with 1 year of hard labor and a fine equal to the price for a raise dead and 100 gp extra. I don't think the author or the reviewers expacted people to actually shoot arrows at a disguised assassin who hide in a dense crowd of panicking people... As the senior DM of that event I was just glad that in Ahlissa the authorities cared more about the people targeted by the assassin than the lives of a commoner or two. Now a days many meta-regionals except it more often and the AR includes wanted statusses with hard labor and fines as punishments. It has become a bit of a badge of honor among some adventurers ;) I also know of a situation in which the PCs accidently killed a couple of charmed civilians while battling a demon that was busy destroying the town. They were punished with a fine paid to the relatives and a couple of weeks community service at the local Pelorite hospital. Finally, I was consulted by a DM who had a player whose character had joined the SB in Crimson Tide and than was foolish enough to practiculaly proclaim this to the city guard. It is rather foolish since members of the SB are at the very least banished, and more likely lynched. As it happens the player was not fully aware of the implecations, so instead his character was send of to a labor camp for 6 months to think about his sins and he had to pay for the removal of the mark of justice. The worse crime I heard off though is a half-orc in Onnwal who blew up a tavern filled with guests. He was executed without any chance for ressurection (well true resurection excepted)... |

| Dragon901-13-07, 01:33 AM | In Veluna at an Interactive an out of town table of PCs (Bandit Kingdoms I believe) didn't feel like answering questions from a Church of Rao inquisitor so they turned him to stone, stone shaped his face, then teleported him to somewhere else in the Flanaess. During GenCon of last year, a local player was playing at a table with that PC with his own Mitrik Temple Guardsman character. He tricked the player into going to Veluna. The offending PC was jailed, fined, and then exiled and told never to come back. I always think that is such a cool story. :P |

| Dragon901-14-07, 03:38 AM | Well, I can tell you that the local Velunans (players) were up in arms over this. In character and out of character. Somehow, the person judging that table didn't go to the Senior GM (who was triad) with this obviously evil act. He was lucky... he could have lost his character. Instead he has just lost some TUs, gold, and the PC cannot be in Veluna again on pain of something worse. |
| Kithran01-14-07, 08:10 AM | The worse crime I heard off though is a half-orc in Onnwal who blew up a tavern filled with guests. He was executed without any chance for ressurection (well true resurection excepted)... I can confirm the above happened - I was the GM for the table and the PC in question crashed a cart full of alchemist fire into a pub that contained some members of the Wreckers. The module had the party leaving the town in which this happened immediately afterwards anyway so thankfully I didn't have to stop the module whilst this got sorted out. One of the other PC's (member of the military etc) tipped of the watch to his identity as soon as they returned and he was arrested at the end of the module. The triad then took it from there and decided the sentence (thankfully there were triad members at the con and were fully aware of the circumstances). Kithran |
| Frumpkis01-16-07, 08:03 PM | I must say - cool! I like triads who aren't afraid to exercise their authority in permanently killing off or removing a PC, if the PC does something blatantly stupid and/or evil. It reinforces in players' heads the idea that there are consequences for negative PC actions. |

Actually its 10%, but it does go up each time you get unreliable, so in theory, with lots of Ratik mods you could have to pay twice as much for an item. - ouch. especially if you only have regional access... |
| rockondon01-17-07, 02:35 AM | at an interactive a friend of mine had an 11th level character mounted on an ebony fly. He uses a lance and has all kinds of mounted feats. He's been following some guy who apparently has been acting suspicious enough to warrant my buddy to think that he is a bad guy, so he swoops down and does 80+ damage to him. ...it was an npc. He performed an autopsy on an innocent commoner. His sentence was 52 TUs. He cashed in a favor that dropped it down to 26. I think he said something about needing an atonement too. |
| cetiken01-17-07, 04:23 AM | Seriously. I don't understand! Punishments of TUs and fines of gold? There are penalties other than unrecoverable death in Dorakaa? Yeah silly, thers always time in Silver Mines. I've met lotsa 'freedom fighters' with the whip scars to prove their mistakes. |
