Will the ever wondering

Firts off... Greeting to everyone. I am a new guy really trying to figure this out.

I have taken the Herald-Level GM Test and recieved the card in the mail.

I have went to the area to download adventures.
https://events.wizards.com/RPGAWeb/external/scenarios.asp

I did get one called 5th world and I ran it at home with my party. It was great BTW.

My problem is I want to start a Living Greyhawk game starting at 1st level and work the characters up the ranks.

Do I download adventures for the group (If so where can I do it) or do I just run the games.

Another problem is how do I say I played a game on such and such date if I do not download an adventure?

How do you create and/or upgrade your character online for the Living Greyhawk game.. I heard this was possible but I seem to be missing it.

I am sorry that I am bothering everyone with questions like this. I am sure they are simple to you guys and gals. I am just hoping to give my group a good game and a true to rpga rules.

I am just now able to get the Campaign Suorcebook 3.5 for Living Greyhawk so if the information is in here please show me where.

I thank everyone of you for listing to me rattle of questions and thank you for your time for answering any or all of them.

Read this thread:
http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=370316

Several of us explained the process in that thread. And, yes, if you're running a Living Greyhawk game, you have to use the actual Living Greyhawk adventures.

Another problem is how do I say I played a game on such and such date if I do not download an adventure?

I'm a little confused by your question...but no, you *can't* report playing a module if you haven't ordered that module.

(That said...if you "order" a Dungeon Magazine adventure to play for RPGA credit, there's no adventure to "download" -- you're expected to use your copy of Dungeon Magazine. But, at the moment, there's no Dungeon adventures that you can use as part of the Living Greyhawk campaign. To play Living Greyhawk, you have to order LG adventures from the RPGA.)

How do you create and/or upgrade your character online for the Living Greyhawk game.. I heard this was possible but I seem to be missing it.

AFAIK, you can't. Legacy of the Green Regent and Mark of Heroes handle their character updates online, but Living Greyhawk does it the old-fashioned way, with character sheets and Adventure Records.

OK I understand most of it now, I have one more question.

I have a group (starting them off level one) and I am wanting to keep the same group of characters for the duration of the campaign (not change characters every adventure)

I picked Mad God's Key a living greyhawk game. It is level one so it will be great to start with.

Problem- How do I keep the game going with different adventures. I will have to have as an average of 13 encounters per level which takes about 3 twelve hour games to level.

A different way to ask this is.... Does the adventure last more then one session. I cannot know that until after I order the game. So is there a way to add on to the session if we are to go into over time on this one adventure?

Or do I have to report the adventure saying we did not complete it and just go to the next eventure?

And when I searched for Living Greyhawk I found allot of games but do I need to search for home games instead of living greyhawk?

Thank you again for your time.

Will the ever wondering ever cease.

Actually, as I read this, you have more than one....but that's OK.

I picked Mad God's Key a living greyhawk game. It is level one so it will be great to start with.

OK, there's a problem right there.

Indeed, Mad God's Key is (or at least *was*) a Living Greyhawk module, even though it originally appeared in Dragon Magazine. However, it was "retired" as an active Living Greyhawk module at the end of last December. In other words, you can still play it as an unofficial home game, but you can't play it as an official Living Greyhawk game anymore. (That is, LG characters can't gain XP, gold, etc. through playing it.)

Problem- How do I keep the game going with different adventures. I will have to have as an average of 13 encounters per level which takes about 3 twelve hour games to level.

Not sure I understand this question. Mad God's Key is an outlier as far as LG adventures go -- it's much longer than a typical LG module. Most LG modules are "one-round" adventures -- that is, they're written to fit within a standard four-hour round at a convention.

How you keep it going? Well, you run a series of modules for your players. I'd anticipate it taking 3 or so "standard" modules for LG PCs to advance from 1st to 2nd level, for example.

Or do I have to report the adventure saying we did not complete it and just go to the next eventure?

With a home game, you're not as bound to the four-hour slot as you would be at a convention. So, if it takes you 6 hours to finish the module, as long as your players are fine with that, that's not a problem.

And when I searched for Living Greyhawk I found allot of games but do I need to search for home games instead of living greyhawk?

You select "Home" as the event type, on the page you go to to actually order events. The page you bookmarked in your prior post doesn't actually get you to the ordering page; it just gets you to a listing of the available modules.

You can play pretty much any RPGA adventure as "home play"; it's not a separate category of modules. For Living Greyhawk, you can play Core adventures, as well as adventures from your region and metaregion.

(Also, many of the LG regions have special Introductory modules, specifically written for 1st level PCs. Where do you live? We may be able to point you in the direction of your local Triad, who may be able to help, too.)

Does that help?

Atlanta, Georgia USA (well about 25 miles away from there but you get the Idea.)

I want to say thank you again for the help. I guess me and my party is really too new at the rpga thing.

That means your home region is Gran March: http://granmarch.living-greyhawk.com/

Contact Triad and i'm sure they help you out.

I would post a message here:

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/GranMarch/

From what I understand there is an active RPGA community in Atlanta. DragonCon is one of the largest RPGA events in the SE as well. Its normaly over Labor Day weekend. The players there should be able to hook you up to games in your area. I find it helpful to play a little before DMing. That way you can get a handle on modules and the Adventure Record paperwork.

That is a Good Idea Mr. Qstor but I am unable to play as a player without hurting my players by not letting them play. My time with my job is severly limiting.

Right now the best I can do is a quick on the job training. But if I do run into a game locally I will at least go to the DM there so they can explain to me in person.

Thanks for the idea. Mr. Qstor.

This is a placeholder for a Living Greyhawk Year 4 regional adventure. You will not receive the adventure when your event is sanctioned. The file you’ll receive contains directions on how to get the adventure from the Living Greyhawk campaign staff, and the RPGA session tracking needed to report play of the adventure at your event.

Allot of the modules have this on them. I am kind of nervious on getting one of these because of unknown problems.

I am making sure I have the right region (Region 1 Grand March area).

Can I choose one of these games for a Home game? and If I can, am I bothering someone from the Living Greyhawk campaign staff?

You can relax. That's the way LG Regionals are done. Yes, you can choose a Regional adventure for a home game (assuming that your home is in that region, of course :) ). If you're in Georgia, yes, you're in the Gran March region.

Your Triad (the LG staff for your region) has to supply some of the files to you, but you're not "bothering someone" -- that's their job. IIRC, when you order the event, you're given instructions on how to obtain the files from your Triad.

Looking at this (http://granmarch.living-greyhawk.com/triad.htm), it looks like a guy named John Freeman is the Gran March Point of Contact (PoC) -- he'd be the guy who'd be getting those files to you. If you've got more questions, you might want to drop him an e-mail directly

Just keep in mind that it may take them a little while to get the files to you. So, don't order a module that you're hoping to run that evening.

Hope this helps!

That'd be because that's what that link / page is for. It's not the link to be used for scenario downloads.

When i login to the RPGA page and click the request scenarios link

Works just fine for me. Might be a browser compatibility issue -- what browser are you using?

Go to www.rpga.com. Near the top right of the screen is a link that says "Member Sign On." Click that and log in using your username/password. The link you want once you enter your Member Page is "Request Scenario and set up a RPGA event" (forgive them the grammar mistake . . .). This gives you access to creating your event (game day/convetion/home game) and ordering the adventures you want to play at your event.

Good luck!

thanks shawn..thats exactly what i'm doing..when i click the request scenario link i get the 500 error..i am using XP (sp1) & ie 6.0.26...i installed firefox 1.0 but that bombs with a different error. I also tried on a laptop with XP & ie6 and get the same 500 error

when i read that most people know there rpga number by heart..i didnt realise it's cause they (like me) have typed it 100's of times in the vain attempt to get it working :)

Guess i'll just have to look for a GM in the UK who can fit me into his/her group instead
