I've been painting miniatures for about 7-8 years now and I've started to put some of cut off bit and pieces into good use. Mainly I started to assemble figures of creatures that have been blown into fractions, hacked into sloppy joes, a grateful dead painted skeleton, Spell effect like lighting bolt and my favorite, those affected by spells. The figure that seems to go over best is the Incinerated victim where only the boots remind and the smoke. The best part is I give away these figures! I find that such novelties really brighten up people's day and makes the game play more pleasurable.

Now My question to you guys and gals is; do you do anything to improve the game day? For instance, buy a round of mountain dews for the table if they do a great job on a combat or allow for some divine assistance in puzzle portions (call a friend or family member who hasn't played the game for advice) . I ask this because I'm trying to expand the gaming club I'm apart of and I'm looking for some great ways to keep the attendance rising.

At one convention, I used candy as tokens to represent the bad guys and players got to eat what they killed. The overactive fireballing sorcerer at one table was on a sugar rush an hour into the mod.

Honestly though, I don't think you need swag or anything to attract players. Just adertise the games, provide good judges, and players will come. Just make sure to indicate that it's Dungeons and Dragons in any advertisement though...one fellow told me that he's seen the RPGA section at a local con for years, but never realised it was for playing D&D.

Maybe have a monthly event where people are encouraged to bring newbies to D&D/RPGA and have a special character creation session followed by an intro mod.
