| Alpha_Nerd01-18-07, 02:23 PM | I don't know about you guys, but sometimes due to a list of contributing factors the party at the table just loses it to compelte silliness on the player's part. My favorite example of this was at a home game where we ended up staying up until like four in the morning for a reason I don't remember, but in the mod there was something like a sphere of annihilation, and then one of the other guys mentioned playing soccer with a sphere of annihilation. I'm not sure if we were delusional from sleep deprevation, but the next fifteen to twenty minutes were just pure laughter with the occasional newly thought up rule for "Sphere of Annihilation Soccer" Such as each player only gets 2 kicks, which was a redundant rule since after two kicks the players legs are gone. Another time was in Red Scales, Blue Secrets I think, sorry if it's another mod but if it is the spoiler isn't that big. ** SPOILERS ** We were playing midnight madness and had an very poor APL 12 table going with only 4 people so one of the other guys's friends brought his 7th level sorcereress so we were a good 5 person APL 10. The part where Morginstaler takes a character on a "romantic evening" caused us to explode in terrible innuendo and poking fun at the poor 18 Charisma under-APL sorceress who was thoroughly violated, interrupting the mod for a good ten to fifteen minutes. This died down for the rest of the mod, but when we got the AR and saw the poor girl had to take time off for maternity leave (I know it doesn't say maternity leave but come on) it stopped AR-filling-out for another good five minutes. ** END SPOILERS** So, I guess post not necessarily the most fun you've had playing LG, but the most ridiculous mod-stooping events that have occured due to some kind of delusion or just a very weird sense of humor. EDIT: Now the spoiler is in a black box, because apparently mentioning that it is a spoiler in the previous paragraph and putting a big ** SPOILERS ** above and below the block of text isn't enough for some people. |
| clannagh01-18-07, 05:12 PM | one of the more amusing combats we had was against some flying fey who refused to play fair and come down and fight it out at ground level The party included _m_'s green star adept Dacron cohort (basically an ape) and our high level druid with a rhino companion. So with "fly" cast on the rhino for mid air double damge charges and the Dacron swinging through the tree's swinging some random weapon with one hand the party got to sit back and watch an aerial dogfight in the treetops between a green ape, a rhino and a couple of almost invisible fey. |
| CrystalBlue01-18-07, 05:20 PM | Way back when, in The Moonlight Arrives, my character played that as his second mod. When you get transported to a fey realm with bodies twitching on trees, little old ladies that turn into were-rats, and have to snap a little dogs neck to get out. O.O Oh boy...fun times. In that mod, the last battle, I somehow miss-read the clues for the battle we were going into. So it turned into a fight with subduel damage. At one point, we had to ask what the damage on a bedroll was. Finally, the barbarian had enough. He pulled out a flask of oil from his pack, 5-foot stepped up to a sorcerer boy, and said "This is how I have fun!" He then proceeded to rage, call-shot a grapple to the boy's no-no parts, critical for the touch and Str checks, and roll max damage. After that, we started to use leathal damage. :D |

| frupton01-18-07, 10:13 PM | This is from a currently running mod, so I'll have to be a bit circumspect. We're playing a mod at one of the cons. In the mod, our party, including my bard, is at a social gathering where a female NPC bard is present. I'm trying to gather information from her and not getting very much, but I do find out that she's planning to give a performance later. And her skill is in perform (wind). So in all sincerity I ask her if she'd care to check out my masterwork flute and see if perhaps she'd like to perform on it. The table broke down in laughter for at least five minutes. It's also the only time I've ever had a judge audit my ARs to prove that I'd actually purchased a masterwork flute. |
| _metz_01-18-07, 11:18 PM | Actually I hit it for 30 Damage, I got my sneak on... But yeah bit of overkill... |
| magebeast01-18-07, 11:33 PM | Several years ago at Gencon, I played a classic where all of the pre-gens were half Dragons for some reason - which meant we all had some ridiculous strength scores. We were playing extremely cautiously, and managed to determine that there was a 12-or-so-headed Hydra a room ahead of us. I and another guy were playing the melee fighters, so he and I delayed for the wizard, and then the Wizard D-doored us right next to the Hydra. The other fighter went before me and he two-hand power attacked for full with a Heavy Pick. He crit. The Hydra exploded into a fine spray - somehow. |
| LGMoses01-18-07, 11:43 PM | Ooo hydras are tuff. How do you kill hydras w/o improved sunder? When you provoke from a hydra. Do all the heads get to attack when you provoke or does each head get its own separate Ao? |
| gomeztoo01-19-07, 09:14 AM | This died down for the rest of the mod, but when we got the AR and saw the poor girl had to take time off for maternity leave (I know it doesn't say maternity leave but come on) it stopped AR-filling-out for another good five minutes. Hmm. I still haven't heared of the mother, my char is to adopt the kid... and she is pregant of a half-dragon baby herself. Anyway, we had a few silly encounters but they often don't hold up the table that long: - Voa (my waste druidess) turning up at an offical banquet with the Despotrix of Hardby, in a Poison Ivy dress. - Nesalia, after beating the crap out of a thug in a street fight, being invited - and accepting - by the same bunch of thugs minutes to a party where there was a lot of booze and bodily contact of quite another kind. Returning to do the same thing in a later mod, except this time we wracked the inn and she woke up in bed with her best friend, a half orc. - The bathing scene in an Ekbir mod, where the gods showed they were merciful by clouding the Great Greaser in a cloud of inpenetrable steam. - Red tide, where people were endlessly debating how to defeat the Darkon sorcerer, until Nesalia titre dof it,w alked into the arena and cast... cause fear. She won. - The recurring scene in a Dullstrand mod where a bouncer ordered Nes, who was living on the wild, to take a bath in a rain barrel every time she wanted to enter the inn. That same module also had a fish fight (now THAT was fun!). Stuff like that. Things that really take time are often more serious debates, conflicts on what to do in a scenario when PCs have different opinions. |
| RedKnightofKet01-19-07, 09:37 AM | I had one little adventure where a door was opened, a plant-creature grabbed me and pulled me in, and the gnomes behind me shut the door! I survived, but man did that freak me out. The DM and I were laughing, and the gnomes seemed to have no idea what they had done... guess they weren't paying attention. |
| LachlarlanIII01-19-07, 09:55 AM | Ooo hydras are tuff. How do you kill hydras w/o improved sunder? When you provoke from a hydra. Do all the heads get to attack when you provoke or does each head get its own separate Ao? You have to do enough damage each round to overcome Fast Healing. They have Fast Healing 16 or something rediculous, but Fast Healing stops at 0 Hp. I'm guessing his critical pick hit did well over the hydra's HP and killed it in one hit. The second is tougher, but since a hydra is a single creature, I would rule that only one head got the AoO. |
| CrystalBlue01-19-07, 10:32 AM | Killing hydra's are easy. You DON'T want to sunder their heads, cause two heads pop out after you do that. Just attack the body. My wizard with a 10 con and 10 HP took a full attack from a 6 headed hydra...and lived! :D |
| rockondon01-20-07, 11:34 PM | In my RHoD party I play a female cleric of kelanen that likes to flirt with the tank in the party (played by my buddy, steve. No, we're not gay), a 7th level male human fighter. Every time I buff him, heal him, cast fly on him, or any other spell requiring a touch I...well lets just say the required touch is in a rather...strategic...spot. His char has pretty low standards, considering my 8 charisma *shudder*. Too many days adventuring leads to desperation I guess. our characters had sex once. It didn't really get out of hand until I casted bear's endurance on each of us. Best 6 minutes EVAR!!! |

| Bob_the_Theurge01-22-07, 06:06 PM | Someone needs to spoiler-hide or delete a section from the first post in this thread, that mod is VERY MUCH STILL AVAILABLE FOR PLAY. |
| DuctShuiTengu01-23-07, 10:47 AM | One mod I was playing in, in order to get a dragon out of its lair and into a terrain that suited our party better (as frequently seems to be the case here, we were heavy on ranged combat, not so much with the melee range that going in would have put us at), the party bard decided the best way to do this was to stand outside the opening and sing this little ditty (http://cfcl.com/vlb/Cuute/f/dragon.song.txt) at it. And of course, the player of said bard had to sing (and threatened to follow up with "Do Virgins Taste Better" if that wasn't enough). The rest of us cracked up. |

| pimeister01-24-07, 12:16 AM | the encounter that had us dying of laughter was a hitsquad of halfling rogue/fighters with small long-axes. It was pretty late, so when they started doing reach with the axes and we realized what they were carrying, it took us 10 minutes to recover from the small long axe idea. |
| gbuchold01-26-07, 06:01 PM | One of the guys I play with commonly has earned himself access to a monkey familiar. He named it Minky... and bought it a fez... and an organ grinder. He's also taught it how to mock people, and it carries around a holy symbol of Pholtus for the various NMR mods in which you fight the Valorous League. (Seriously, could we fight something else one of these days? My Paladin is getting tired of having to pull out the ol' sap and braining a bunch of Pholtans.) Whenever he plays that character, everything takes forever, because it's impossible to have a monkey do something that is not funny. |

Whenever he plays that character, everything takes forever, because it's impossible to have a monkey do something that is not funny. our guys monkey familiar went down in a blaze of player damaging goodness. the player in question (also the familiars master) was being grappeled by some big con sucking thingy, so he had his monkey figure that if it poured alchemist fire on them both, the thing might let go. long story short, the party fighter swung past a round or 2 later and blated the thing, then ran off to hit some of the others, leaving the poor master burning and bleeding on the ground. Monkey now figures he has to save his master, tries to get a potion in him, incures an aoo from a nearby mob, and dies *grin*. so basically... it set its master on fire and then died. usefull monkey, huh ;) |
| RedKnightofKet01-29-07, 06:29 PM | Just this past weekend, we were in a mod with a barrage of fear effects. The first guy goes around the corner, then comes running back past us. So we trip him. Then the next guy does the same thing - he gets tripped too. Later, even with people running past other scared PCs got tripped - the logic was "I don't have to outrun the bad guy, I have to outrun YOU. Good times... And of course there was Madhouse. That's all I need to say about that one. ;) |
