I have played a wiz (necro) a cleric of pelor, and a rogue (headed US) and where i play is populated with BDFs and rangers/ ranged fighters

we have 2 total clerics at all in our store me and 1 other 6th level one and 2 new guys 1 might be a cleric (i actualy believe he is)

what does every one think is missing from my meta, i would like to avoid yet ANOTHER caster (as i play 2 in home games)

what else would be good in my store (we have like 20 people at the store, 8-10 are BDFs/ archers/ scout, 2-3 clerics, 2 wizards, and 2 rogues and 1 marshal, and 1 beguiler, and a few other smaller things at lower levels (those are the PCs at least 2nd level)

i dont have any idea really (i REALLY dont want a caster but i dont want another cookie cutter BDF/archer even if its only cookie cutter for the first year..)

The thing you're sorta missing from this question is: do you have a group you plan to be running in CGR with, or are you going to be doing pickup groups?

For pickup groups:
* Play a smart, fast fighter (Dungeon Crasher fighter or Trap killer barb)
* Play a small mounted combatant. Mounted combat tree is vastly different from the BDF build
* Paladins in Greyhawk City should be a challenge and a half, and there are some GREAT Greyhawk core mods to play with a paladin this year... if you like being challenged :D

i plan to pick up a random group but they probably will have fighters to play and that makes me a little sad because i really dont want to just be "another fighter" i might go with the halfling out rider build of like fighter 6/halfling outrider 3-4 ftr the rest of the way

Fighter/Ranger or Barb/Ranger trapfinder using the appropriate substitution levels seems like an unusual fighter build opportunity.

As you're seeing, random pickups for a fighter seem tough when you want to do something different.

That said, somebody needs to bring the fighter-type beats.

well i know at least 5 of the people that are going to play it are running fighters so about a 1/4th of the store IS running fighters so most likely theres 1-2 fighters in our group i dont mind playing the fighters but i would like to be durable and high damage, but not be a gneric fighter (we have 6 dwarven tank fighters and it gets borring to play one) i guess i need a better way of saying this, heres what i would like to not play

CASTERS (i dont count low spell paladins and hexblades as this and bard is borderline)
FROUNT LINERS
RANGED

i know thats alot but i have a ton of characters i would rather play a NON caster (i have so many wizards/clerics/dread necros/druids a few in home games that i am tired of casters) mostly because im tired of the massive book keeping that i do with them i would not mind a charger (even as a glass cannon) anything that is easyer to play but i would like something i could play as a first mod thing (i Dont Know if i could afford a mount... on mod 1)

Bard or marshall if everyone else is going to be a fighter. Might as well roll with it and be the party buffer and face.

You could try an AC Tank Paladin or a Dual-Wielding Ranger...

Despite their obvious combat attributes, they can also use "Wands of Cure Light Wounds" which make them superb support at low level, especially if you can't muster a decent cleric.
With a Ranger or Paladin you can definately be more than a traditional "Big-Dumb-Fighter".

A bard can fill the holes in a low-level "pick-up group" (especially with a Fighter-heavy group) with their bardic music buffs, healing (Cure Light Wounds) and face skills. You can always multi-class into Fighter or Barbarian if you want a little more punch.

Finally, a Druid (while another divine caster) is very different from a cleric. Their animal companion is usually the one of the best fighters in a low-level party (the usually have the highest AC and/or mutliple attacks, trip, rend etc.). While the Druid has healing, [spontanious] summoning and direct damage spells in its' repertoire.
The Druid itself can even enter melee in a pinch. With "Shillelagh" and [a potion of] "Enlarge Person" they can cause quite a mess.

I was gonna say sorc. Would be fun to be a kobold, but human or even Gnome would be fun also. Could be interesting and less bookwork than a wizard. With the right spells and feats you could be very effective.

i would like to use my kobold card for this if i can does any one know if kobolds will be allowed in? (i will take 20 on the disguise check if its needed)

i think ill be in the wizardy guild, use the metamagic specialist alt class feature and maby taking like spell focus evocation, then metamagic school focus at 3rd and 6th empower at 9th go for practical empower/ quicken

OR i can go for split ray and necro which would be better

stats on the line of

8 (4)
16 (6)
12 (6)
10 (2)
10 (2)
15 (8)

i would need help on spell selection AND need to know if i could get in without a disguise check

If you want to be different, try a halfling rogue/swashbuckler or gnome titan-fighter (+4 to AC vs. any medium and larger opponent?)! Paladins are also nice for a non-typical frontliner. They have the extra benefit of receiving tons of role-play opportunities (if you're into that kind of thing).

Also, and people have said this before, but I believe a bard would work wonders. If your entire party is made up of fighters then your group buffs will be all the more powerful. Take some illusory buff spells from the spell compendium, like the one that dazzles enemies when you swing at them, and join in the fracas! Plus you can heal and cast other spells in a pinch, but certainly nobody would be relying on you for solely casting spells like your previous characters.
