So you need to have an 8th level PC to start playing the (very cool) 3.5 edition Ruins of Greyhawk scenarios. And those scenarios will come out in 2008 or so.

So start your PC now, make all kinds of choices based on all your currently available products. Maybe you'll make 8th level by, say May 2008.

And then....

I wonder if anyone knew about this? If so, I guess there's a plan?;)

Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk is the "mega-adventure" you want to be character level 8 to play... It's already released as a 3.5 book.

The CGR adventure series starting off with Ruins of Discovery (CGR7-01 and CGR7-02, according to the information that's been presented in prior chats, but that's subject to change) premieres this week.

Not sure what you're getting at beyond the potential for the Ruins of Greyhawk to be the swan song of LG... and that's something which is a bit of premature speculation, don't you think?

My issue is that if we all have to switch to 4.0 in mid 2008, I think it highly unlikely I'd have my Ruins PC to 8th level and have time to play though the Ruins book before the switch.

So I'm hoping the switch won't be til 2009.

Core three books (last is either DMG or MM), not out until July. Minimum turn around time for adventure writers for LG to switch to the new stat block format (AGAIN!?) and new encounter maths they implied in the presentations GamerZer0 posted on youtube ... and have it reviewed by their editors...

I can't foresee the first release of 4E LG content until at least October or November 2008, more likely beginning of 2009...

We'll see, eh?

Even if the switch is in 2009, it'll be hard to play a new character through the CGR mods AND the ADP in the same year, even playing "Ruins of Discovery" in CY 597.

At this point I'm likely to just play it with our dwarves who are now 7th level once it comes out. There is no way our baby chars will get there. I'd much rather play the 2-8 cores with my level 4 and 7 characters that have developed strong personalities over several years of play (as alts, they only used half to a third of their TU's each year)

I'm also strongly considering not starting new PC's but just playing some local (and fun) intro mods and doing the early GH ruins mods with those chars.

Not really sure what you mean be premature speculation, it's already been announced that LG ends next year.
