| Greyson09-11-07, 11:55 PM | That definitely is Denis's map from Living Greyhawk Journal #2. It just looks like the colors and contrast were tweaked a lot. It probably has an overlay on it to add colors, textures and other detail. The same thing was done for the map of Barge End in Mad God's Key. I doubt that a new map was commissioned for a few Core adventures. I am not opposed to the idea of a new map. But, I do think what we have here is Denis's map rendered with some more detail. And why not? It is the best map of Greyhawk City ever produced. |
| Maldin09-30-07, 06:30 PM | The City of Greyhawk map in the Sourcebook is... erm... sorta new. But it wasn't commissioned for the Sourcebook. Its actually the map of the CoG from the Expedition to Greyhawk Ruins product. Mike Schley drew it... or rather redrew it. Its a very VERY precise tracing of my original map published as the poster in Living Greyhawk Journal #2, and colored in. And when I say precise... Mike did an excellent job of tracing every building, shack, animal pen, and yes... even tree. I was quite relieved to see that my original design had been so accurately preserved, yet understandably disappointed that I received no credit in the book (ah, but thats what the publishing biz is like... I have no illusions). If you want to know where-is-what, though, your only game in town (if you don't have the LGJ2) is still to visit my website. The Ruins map only identifies the few locations important to the module. You'll have to check my java-labelled map at http://melkot.com/locations/cogh/cogh.html if you want to find out where the other 250+ published locations in the City of Greyhawk are. And of course, my unpublished map of the CoG's undercity on that same page remains the only one in existence. Denis, aka "Maldin" Maldin's Greyhawk http://melkot.com Your City of Greyhawk Homepage |
