Has Dust of a Dead World been Errata'ed? [Archive] - Wizards Community

A GM recently ran me and a few other players through Dust of a Dead World. While the requirements on the mod are stated, he claimed he had seen an errata put out by the Circle that it would now only require that ONE person in the group fulfill the mod requirements because the items required to meet it were almost completely unavailable now.

Is this correct, and if not what do we need to do to correct our characters?

I have not seen anything to that effect.

While you may not have seen it, I am still searching. The problem I'm encountering is there is no central listing of Circle rulings, and the Circle rather than keeping one available on their own has taken to posting rulings in things like replies to Yahoogroups posts.

Thus I'm in a bit of a bind. When I played it, I had to take the DM's word it had been errata'ed, and have played another module since.

Well, have you tried emailing your local Circle rep for an official answer?

I can't.

Chris Tulach's contact email isn't listed (IUZ Border States).

... there is no central listing of Circle rulings, and the Circle rather than keeping one available on their own has taken to posting rulings in things like replies to Yahoogroups posts. Great point, Moryath. The Circle should make better use of its Web site: http://living-greyhawk.com/

The last news item posted to the site was from Oct 2003 - over a year ago. If not the above site, perhaps the RPGA's LG Web site can be put to better use to get important information out. Even this forum is a great place for them to use. While, articles on Mysterious Places are cool, it is more pressing to provide a one-stop location for salient issues like scenario and Adventure Record corrections.

The multitude of Yahoo Groups are too parochial and there are too freaking many to follow, comb through and otherwise search for to get answers to questions.

Actually, the Theocracy of the Pale has taken it upon themselves to compile a list of Circle rulings. The url is here:

http://www.theocracyofthepale.com/gamerules/circle_rulings.html

Didn't see anything for Dust in there, but didn't look too hard.

I'm sure your Triad could point you in the right direction, or if not, I suspect one of the other Triad members could help with email.

Sorry to say, Theocracy's list isn't nearly as definitive as I'd like :( At least they are trying, though.

You can't find anything, because it hasn't been changed. Every PC must meet the requirements.

Every PC must meet the requirements.

but what about cohorts?

I recently aquired a quite spiffy cohort and would like to take him along with me to the Dust of the Dead world. I meet the pre-reqs for the mod, but the cohort doesn't. Am I able to bring him along?

A cohort counts as a PC in all cases except specifically noted in the LGCS, so yes, he'd have to meet the requirements as well. It's as if there was a mod in which only wizards could participate -- if your cohort was a single-classed paladin, he's out of luck.

No it is not correct, you still have to meet the requirements.
I would suggest contacting your local triad about correcting your characters (of course, if it was the last mod played this should be easy, if it wasn't it could get very complicated).

If someone claims to have seen errata it is usually irrelevant unless they can show that errata as proof(unless of course they are the author of the errata, are a circle member or have direct word from a circle member) - even if they are the DM. Otherwise you are obliged to run everything as printed.

(The direct word bit I put in as I have seen a Circle member give direct verbal instructions to a DM on more than one occasion).

The problems are twofold:

#1 - we played a mod afterwards in which the gold from this one was used.

#2 - my other friend in the same boat is now very incensed because she will not EVER be able to play this mod, even if she were to get one of the other qualifying items first.

This mod is very unbalanced for APL 6 I strongly think if you can just skip this mod... not worth it... but hey dont let me stop you... enjoy....

This does sound like a Triad problem to me, and I'd suggest you ask them to help you out. Mistakes happen, probems occur, and they are empowered to deal with it.
