Well I was looking at my sorcerer, and I was thinking that he might just be a little too dry just going the straight 15-16 levels in sorcerer, what's a good prestiege class for him. I'm already taking the Draconic Heritage feats, and was curious about this Dragon Devotee class I've been hearing about, what book is it out of?

fate spinner (CM) is always a good choice for an arcanist, only some few ranks in profession [gambler] and some nice features.

Dragon Devotee is a more martial class, similar to a 5 level dragon disciple, from the book "Races of the Dragon".

Over five levels, you gain two levels of sorcerer spellcasting, EITHER 2d6 Sneak Attack, Two fighter bonus feats, or one fighter bonus feat and 1d6 sneak attack. And finally, the draconic template over five levels, (boosts to con/cha/str, claws, some natural armor, bonuses against sleep and paralysis, darkvision/lowlight vision and +2 to intimidate/spot checks. Oh, and the ability to learn Magic Fang and Greater Magic Fang as sorcerer spells.) The bonus Sneak Attack can also be applied to skirmish/sudden strike.

Entry requirements are +5 BAB, 1 rank knowledge arcana and the Language "Draconic".

It's a great lead in for a late blooming rogue/dragon devotee/unseen seer (or Arcane Trickster). AND Dragon Devotee offers the possibility to take Fighter bonus feats instead of sneak attack dice, which offers options to non rogues.

But the short story is: Dragon Devotee is not good for a pure sorcerer. It is a martial class, designed for more martial or roguish characters who love dragons.

As for other options for your sorcerer:

Fatespinner is good. Very good. It's popular for a reason. 4 or five levels cost little, and gain a good deal for a sorcerer. And you lose no spellcasting if you skip taking level 5 of fatespinner.

Heck, I have a sorcerer that will be a fatespinner.

Don't even consider that 5th level though.

Don't even consider that 5th level though.

So you'd rather have the extra level of spellcasting over the ability to hit an enemy or friend with a -10 or +10 (respectively) to one saving throw?

Makes me think that the Fatespinner should lose a level of spellcasting at level one instead of level five.

Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil is another possibility. They get remarkably difficult to touch at the final levels of the class.

Yeah it should.
The problem is that the -10 only applies to enemies with fewer HD...against whom you don't need it (didn't think there was a +10 option)

Yeah. If Seal Fate wasn't tied to hit dice, you might get the occasional person taking the caster level hit. With it, bleah.

All PRC's that give good abilities probably should cost a caster level. What puzzles me is some of the best don't, and most that DO cost one or more caster levels don't give anywhere near enough class abilities to make up for it.

Full caster PRC's that give minor abilities should cost suboptimal feats, pretty much.

But nobody consulted me when designing the PRC's :) So we have a bunch nobody takes unless they're not primary casters, and a bunch that lots and lots of primary casters take or dip into because the cost is less than the benefit.

When Fatespinner came out, I was actually annoyed at how good it was and how cheap to get into. The flavor fit my character really well (she was a gambler from an early age, long before the PRC came out, and many of the effects of the class mechanically can be seen as low grade TK effects) but I knew that when I took it, I'd be seen as yet another opportunist.

I took it anyway - because it fit from a mechanical and flavor standpoint. But I still get annoyed when every second APL10+ arcanist has fatespinner levels. I'll feel better once I hit 15 and have control weather (done with telekenetic "butterfly effect" stuff, mixing fine manipulation with the probability stuff I learned as a fatespinner)....
