| Gwumph10-21-06, 04:52 AM | Not asking for the actual mod. But has anyone seen Horseshoes of speed in either a legal core mod or a legal perrenland mod? (meaning year 5 and up) I want to know if they are ever available or should I start looking at alternatives. Gwumph |
| paigeoliver10-21-06, 09:15 AM | They are on my current buy list at the moment. |
| clannagh10-21-06, 08:49 PM | I have seen both speed and zephyr recently. Cant recall offhand if they were perrenland, Iuz meta or Core but they do exist :) |
| Swiftbrook10-22-06, 08:12 PM | Not sure I'm reading the LGCS correctly but it states regarding any animal brought along: "They can only use these sorts of magic items, unless otherwise specifically stated that it can be used by an animal, animal companion, mount, or familiar: A. One suit of barding B. One collar, necklace or other neck gear C. One cloak." [LGCS 596 CY page 40] No shoes on the list. Always wondered about this. -Swiftbrook |
| JJeff10-22-06, 08:54 PM | I can confirm a Horseshoes of the Zephyr in a Perrenland Mod. Personally have not seen the Speed one yet |
| Japangirl10-23-06, 03:38 PM | For a centaur, however, horseshoes are *amazing*. Not sure if the OP plays a centaur or not though. |

Horse shoes don't need to be on the list, they're in the first sentence: "...specifically stated that it can be used by an animal..." |

It seems like a centuar can actually wear boots or horseshoes but apparently not both at once. Horseshoes of the zephyr actually overcome a lot of the pragmatic issues involved in getting a centaur around in game ... " so i cant fit in the row boat huh ?? OK I walk out to the ship and leap onto the deck with a running start to my jump" |
| Gwumph10-23-06, 10:42 PM | Here is a part 2 to this question Do horseshoes work for all 4 legged mounted creatures? Do they work for riding dogs or a Dire Wolf or a Dire lizard? These are animals without hooves. So can they use everything a normal mount would use or are they just screwed? Gwumph |
| Arvagor10-23-06, 11:22 PM | Do horseshoes work for all 4 legged mounted creatures? Do they work for riding dogs or a Dire Wolf or a Dire lizard?Um, no... If the animal is not one that could normally wear horseshoes, then it cannot wear horseshoes of speed either... |
| Gwumph10-23-06, 11:47 PM | The "horse" part of horseshoes is misleading. Cows could easily use horseshoes as could other hooven animals. One must assume that these magical horseshoes change to fit the size of the animal (such as magical rings) so that the horseshoe could fit a heavy warhorse or a warpony. Also if a Dire wolf can't use magical horseshoes, what can u put on your dire wolfs feet?? |

But otherwise as a companian animal/mount you are limited to the standard LG cloak/amulet and barding. |

Cows could easily use horseshoes as could other hooven animals.Horsehoes are designed for animals with a hard uncloven hoof -- the shoe is nailed directly into the outer part of the hoof, all the way 'round. Perhaps someone more versed in the ways of zoology than I can elaborate, but I know of no other animals -- besides horses, donkeys, and mules -- that might wear shoes in the design we typically call "horseshoes". |

We need doggie-boots of zephyr! timerino |
