| Samo07-13-06, 07:54 AM | Hey guys, I was flipping through the complete warrior and complete arcane last night admiring all the cool prestige classes in them, and it got me thinking that i want to become a Hunter of the Dead. Can someone tell me the best way to go about getting this prestige class. For example should I be a paladin 5/ fighter 3 before I take the prestige class? What feats would help the most? Unless you have an Idea for a better prestige class. Right now I'm a elven paladin 2: str 14 dex 14 con 12 int 10 (only 2 skill points per level) wis 12 cha 14 concentration 1 diplomacy 2 heal 4 knowledge religion 1 knowledge nobility 1 Feat: WF War Hammer |

It is no better than taking a level of an NPC class. Hunter of the Dead really doesn't offer much at all over being a single-classed paladin or a single-classed cleric. Either one is still better at dealing with undead, and un-undead even moreso. I'd avoid the class entirely- just get an undead bane weapon and consider the job done. Decent classes for your current build may be dips in the form of: 1 Exotic Wpn Master 2 Champion of Corellon 2 WildRunner X Pious Templar X Divine Crusader 15 paladin This is achievable by taking a couple (not 3!) fighter levels and possibly ranger or cleric levels to rack up bonus feats. |

It is particularly bad for your guy as it has a d8 for hit points and the only way for you to access a lot of its abilities is to boost Wisdom. The only way to do that is pretty much at the expense of Con - which would destroy your frontliner status at high level. If your Deity's primary weapon is a Warhammer, Pious Templar is a very strong prestige class. Another interesting option might be: Paladin 6/Divine Crusader 3/Warpriest 6(both of these are in Complete Divine) (whoops, that should be something along the lines of: Paladin 4/Fighter 4/Divine Crusader 3/Warpriest 4 - forgot DC had a BAB prereq...) |
