Post there and let it be known what LG means to you. Also, give the thread a 5 stars rating. We deserve it.

I think that the dropping of Greyhawk as the core setting is a little deeper than most think. I think that there might be some behind the scenes stuff going on with WOTC and another party. Just my speculation of course.

After reading the above posted forum I have seen people pitching their support for Greyhawk there. But doesnt anyone find it odd/funny/weird that WOTC announces that FR and Eberron settings books will be published but not a Greyhawk one ? Especially knowing how the LG people would respond to their living campaign getting the axe, there was no mention anywhere about the Greyhawk realm. With the success of the LG campaign doesnt it seem that there would be a desire to support that realm as well ?

Plus if you look further at that forum there is a thread for Forgotten Realms and Eberron and then the other settings. They are avoiding Greyhawk for a reason it seems.

Just speculation on my part as an attempt to confirm my previous speculation :raincloud :raincloud

I dont look at it as a fix. I look at it as in they may have done it to cut out the originator of the realms. Realize that Gygax still received royalties and this may have been their way of cutting ties. But as I said its just speculation.

A business move is a business move. Has nothing to do with a fix. Sorry I am not a doomsayer like other posters have been. Hopefully the "I wont play D&D once LG is gone" and the "I wont buy 4th edition etc etc" crowds wont stick around on the boards once LG is finally gone next year. But I have a feeling that that is just dreaming

Now, see, I feel exactly the opposite. The doomsayers are speaking their mind just as you. That's like someone telling you to go f' off because they don't agree with you. I do feel the fix is in. Wizards has apparently decided to sabotage Greyhawk at every turn. The problem was that it was too successful to give it the hatchet job they wanted. Now they think they've figured out a way to do it and keep around some of the base. I'm thinking it won't work and they'll be eating their hats, you seem to disagree. At no time should either of us be "not around".

I will add that if all the "The Realms sucks, WoTC sucks, the RPGA sucks for killing LG and I'm leaving!" crowd is still here next year on the boards saying the same things, then the only logical reply is "Play or leave!"

That doesn't seem logical to me either. If they have an issue with something, let them stay. There is always the ignore feature....

I'm just pointing out that if one's only reason to be on this board at this time next year is to say "nya nya nya, you're playing 4e, I'm not and I'm smarter than you for not playing 4e" then what's the point of spending all that effort to tell us we're dunderheads?

When 4e comes around and the RPGA starts LFR, we'll either dig it and play or not and leave. To stick around next year and offer an opinion that the new system and campaign are crap and one hasn't played it, isn't playing it and won't play it because of how LG was ended and their opinion that 4e is a poor quality product to those who ARE playing LFR in 4e and have decided already to stay in LFR based on their play experience seems futile to me. Much like the definition of insane. To do the same thing over and over and expect different results. At that point, the only logical solution is to kindly and quietly show those poor souls the door. I expect such folks will be railing about saving LG and how 4e will be nothing but d20 rules for a MMO as they exit.

I would agree with your statements, but I disagree that most people here that are dissenting are doing it just to irritate people. Most of the posts I see have people that are genuinely disgruntled and want their opinions to be known.

No people today have a legitimate gripe. Their not happy that LG was ended, and definitely not happy about the circumstances. I feel (feelings only, no hard facts to speak of) there is more to the story than the big, bad people at WoTC/Hasbro have always had it in for Greyhawk. It seems there is way more behind the scenes we'll never know about if we're not some lawyer on retainer for certain parties.

On the 4e front, I can only say "we'll see what we'll see." To say now the product WILL be good or bad based on this or that past precedent is, while a good predictor, ultimately an uncertain way of going about things. I'm just happy WoTC announced playtesting will take place by groups outside of WoTC (mostly RPGA groups IIRC).

The game just has to be fun. For people to make this big of a deal over it is, quite frankly, petty. Yeah, I was there when they announced all this and I was ******. Same as, I'm sure, thousands of others at the con. And that Sunday, we whined, griped, groaned, ranted, and raved to whoever was in earshot.

Life happens. Novel concept. As much as I'm sure there will be stubborn people that won't want to switch systems (much the same as I saw people that didn't want to touch 3.0/3.5 when it came out), people will move on. We'll buy the books, we'll play the game, and we'll have fun. I don't want to put much stock in how people are talking right now...though I've heard the occasional personal attack lately, I'm chalking that up to rage and anger.
