I once heard that you could use Intimidate as a taunt much like the knight ability is that true , if so how and would it be legal in LG . It Would help me a lot as the only tank in our regular LG game in a team of 6 .:fight!:

I think this is one of those Neverwinter Nights cross over things... something that works in NWN, but isn't part of DnD. It might have been in 3.0. Regardless, there is no core rule for taunting in 3.5, AFAIK. An Intimidate check can be used to make an opponent Shaken.

You might look at the feat Goad if you are seeking for ways to be a magnet for the bad guys.

It's called demoralizing.
Demoralize Opponent

You can also use Intimidate to weaken an opponent’s resolve in combat. To do so, make an Intimidate check opposed by the target’s modified level check (1d20 + character level or Hit Dice + target’s Wisdom bonus [if any] + target’s modifiers on saves against fear). If you win, the target becomes shaken for 1 round. A shaken character takes a -2 penalty on attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws. You can intimidate only an opponent that you threaten in melee combat and that can see you.

Use is a standard action.

Demoralizing doesn't force a foe to attack you. You'll need to use either Goad or the Divine Prankster ability for that - though Divine Prankster is not exactly a great 'tank' class.

Goad can only affect a creature currently threatening you and only restricts its melee attacks - so doesn't work against casters or ranged attackers and doesn't prevent the target from moving away. It also runs off of Cha, making it best used only by the small subset of Cha-focused tanks (Paladin mutts, Holy Liberators, and Wildrunners, mostly.)

Look at the Goad feat in Complete Adventurer. I think that's what you're looking for.

Which brings in a second question, I remember a feat that allowed you to use Strength instead of Charisma for ability modifier for Intimidate. Can anyone remember the book?

No idea. Menacing Demeanour is a flat +4. If you really want high Intimidates, Menacing Brute is probably the way to go there.

Menacing Brute is a prestige class from Races of Destiny for half-orcs, that offers among other things a bonus to Intimidate based on class level.

I think you might mean "Might makes right" though that is from Forgotten Realms campaign book if I remember correctly and it also affected your leadership score.

There is regional feat "Raiders Spirit" which grants +4 to Intimidate checks if I recall correctly.
