| DoveArrow01-29-06, 05:46 PM | For about a year now, I've been running modules for the Mark of Heroes Campaign at a local game store. Unfortunately, my regular players have run through all of the modules available online and it doesn't look like they're going to put up anything new for February. So now I'm looking at other options, and Living Greyhawk looks like a good place to start. Unfortunately, I don't really know where to start. The Living Greyhawk Intro Adventure, for example, looks like a good way to get introduced to the game. However, I'm not sure what to make of the adventure description: This is a placeholder for a Living Greyhawk campaign regional intro adventure. If you are running an interactive. You must contact your regional triad to get the actual introductory adventure. :thinks: What the heck is a regional triad? How do I contact them? This may all be explained in the Campaign Standards, but considering how large that thing is, and considering how I'm trying to get this thing set up for the second to last Sunday in February, I figured I'd start here and see if anybody had any answers. Let me know. Thanks. |

There are "core" Living Greyhawk adventures, and "regional" adventures. Core adventures are set in parts of Greyhawk that aren't assigned to a specific region (such as the City of Greyhawk), and anyone can play them anywhere. Regional adventures can only be played in the real-life area that's assigned to that region. For example, Illinois and Indiana are in the Verbobonc region; if you want to play a Verbobonc regional adventure, you need to be in those states to play it. Each LG region has a group of three volunteers (the Triad) who administers the campaign for that region. I think that every Triad has a Yahoo Group set up for their region; most also have web pages for their region. In either case, there'll be some sort of direction there for how to obtain regional modules. When you order a LG module from the RPGA, if it's a Core adventure, you just download it from the RPGA system, the same way you've been downloading the Mark of Heroes adventures. Regional LG adventures work a little differently...you "order" the event (and get an event code) from the central RPGA system, but you then have to get the actual module files from your region's triad. Each region has several "introductory" adventures, specifically written for first-level PCs. Typically (but not always), an Introductory module is written to take about 2 hours to play (i.e., it fits into half of a normal four-hour con slot), though some are longer. You should contact the Triad for your region to see what Introductory modules they have available. Oh, and because that "Living Greyhawk Introductory Adventure" placeholder in the event ordering system is just a placeholder, representing literally dozens of different Intro modules, players can play that "placeholder" repeatedly, as long as each instance represents playing a different actual Intro adventure. So, the other question for you is: where do you live? (This is the downside to you not filling in the "Location" field on your WotC message boards profile...I can't tell where you're from; if I knew, I could point you in the direction of your local region.) |

We play in Pomona. It's a city in the Los Angeles County, in Southern California. I usually don't fill in the Location field, because honestly, you never know who might be looking at that kind of thing. |

Nyrond's Triad web site is at: http://www.nyrond.org/turbine/page/nyr/ And, the Nyrond Yahoo Group is at: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Nyrond-lw/ Looking at the Nyrond web page, looks like your Point of Contact (POC) is a guy named Tom Kee. Hope this helps. |

Setting up your own game of Living Greyhawk is of course an option but as you are noticing it is very complex. An alternate option for that weekend (or just that day) is to go to the local convention. It is called OrcCon and is being held at the LAX Westin. Check out the website (http://www.strategicon.net) for the convention. If you have never been to this convention before they offer a pass for one day free. There are many options for Living Greyhawk at the convention and 4 scheduled for Sunday night at 8 pm. This will help you get comfortable with the Living Greyhawk world and the idiosyncrasies of playing the campaign. |
