I was considering purchasing a +2 Int Ioun Stone for my Wizard, so that he could cast Alter Self or Polymorph and not lose his Intelligence Boost. But is this, really, how the item would work? I fear that since it isn't specifically stated as an item that doesn't transform in the LGCS, it could be ruled that it still melds into your form, becoming inactive. Curious about your opinions on this. Thanks. |

That said, IF it happened, here is an easy way to prevent it: Step 1: grab the ioun stone orbiting your head and put it on the ground Step 2: cast the spell Step 3: pick up the ioun stone and "launch" it again Problem solved! |

If you change size, only items in the following slots continue to function normally; cloak, amulet/brooch, and weapons. All other items either fall off or are absorbed into your new form (and cease to function).Since the ioun stone is not in one of the slots that is stated to function normally, he could say that it is absorbed. That being said, to do so, IMO, grossly violates the spirit of the rules :pbbbtt: |

That being said, to do so, IMO, grossly violates the spirit of the rules :pbbbtt: Doubly so - the Ioun Stone is slotless and can't even be termed "worn"; bringing this from the SRD: Ioun Stones: These crystalline stones always float in the air and must be within 3 feet of their owner to be of any use. When a character first acquires a stone, she must hold it and then release it, whereupon it takes up a circling orbit 1d3 feet from her head. Thereafter, a stone must be grasped or netted to separate it from its owner. The owner may voluntarily seize and stow a stone (to keep it safe while she is sleeping, for example), but she loses the benefits of the stone during that time. Ioun stones have AC 24, 10 hit points, and hardness 5. In other words: #1, there's no "slot" for it to take up: the LGCS specifically mentions slots. #2, no matter how big/small you get, it makes sense it could still orbit your head, as long as the form you took has a head. Might be a good thing to ask to have added into the new LGCS as a clarification, however! |
