I will be running INT7-01 Ambition's Folly at a retail event soon, and it states that it is an "Introductory Adventure" set in the City of Greyhawk, and that PCs can choose the City of Greyhawk as their home region, and can select any of the affiliations mentioned in the Greyhawk Ruins Sourcebook. Doesn't that mean that it is part of the "Greyhawk Ruins" adventure?

When is this mod released? If its possible for a Greyhawk Ruins character to play this first, with no loss of benefits for a Greyhawk character, it would be great to get this in before GenCon.

Released earlier this month, must play at a retail, it's in the D&D Minis / D&D Campaigns retailer kit. I've seen a copy or two up on eBay as well.

I've got a copy of it and I'm going to take advantage of it right fast. Rawr.

Honestly I would love to see lots of Greyhawk modules, seeing as that one city has so much history.

I can answer this one since i wrote the thing. ya your Greyhawk character can play this one and it is 1 TU for ya. Says in the Time units section i believe that all characters belonging to the region of greyhawk it costs 1 Tu and for the rest 2 TUs.

we made it so that yes you could play this adventure with a new character (which is its intent) then go play greyhawk ruins. however if you get to 2nd level before playing greyhawk ruins then you can't play it with that character. its just how it works out.

you can safely play the one thats out now and the one that comes out in september and still be 1st level though just so you can plan. thats not giving anything away.

hope you like it. if you have comments (i know of one that i may get..let me know)

Tim,
I don't want to sound like I want to cheese the system, but I've got more than one Ruins PC concept and I'd really like to try them both out.

Let's say I play Ambition's Folly tomorrow and make a new PC setting him up as a resident of Greyhawk (as I think someone mentioned was an option listed in the Amb'sFolly mod). If he makes it to 2nd level before entering the ruins, you've made it clear that he cannot enter them.

But if that were to happen, would his residency also automatically revert to my region of residence? Or can he remain a resident of Greyhawk City without entering the ruins?

Thanks for the assistance!

I believe the options allowed in the Greyhawk Ruins book are only for characters that get the first AR in their stack before level 2. INT7-01 does not open any of those options. So, while you may be able to get residency, there isn't anything else that would make a build in Greyhawk different than a build from some other region.

At least, that's my best guess, not having read the Intro mod. So I really don't think there is much to cheese out of that system anyway.

Personally, I'd rather wait til September when INT7-01 is released for general play. It's an APL2-4 mod, so you can wait to play it at a higher APL after getting in all your intro mods rather than using it to start yet another character.

I already have a slew of 1s, 2s and 3s. With a new Greyhawk Ruins character and a potential Kobold, there's pleny of low level options already available for me.

I am pretty sure it is APL2 only (for character levels 1-4).

You're right.

I saw level 1-4 and thought APL2-4.
