Well, if that is what you want then more power to you, but there is an actual forum where you might get more responses: http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=339 S.H, the guy from Naerie |

Well, if that is what you want then more power to you, but there is an actual forum where you might get more responses: http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=339 S.H, the guy from Naerie I agree. However, some have commented in the past that contributers to CO boards sometimes ignore the various constraints of LG (illegal classes, unwarranted assumptions about access... I do not visit CO often, so this is hearsay). Entirely reasonable practice for a straight CO board, of course, but capable of leading one astray if one tries to apply the dicta willy-nilly to LG. Hence the room for LG CO. I concur that this stuff is perhaps peripheral to the board's main role and may be fostering the notion that it has a more limited focus than it does. On the other hand a) a build topic is clear from the title b) no one is forcing me to read it c) build discussions often segue into debates on how certain combos play out in different Regions (problems with necromancy in some places, the interdiction on lethal damage, and so on), which are certainly appropriate to this board d) build discussions their own interest. |
| NiTessine04-26-06, 08:02 AM | Agreed. Perhaps a new forum should be created to accommodate Living Greyhawk character builders, or the character building posts should be just forcibly migrated over to the Character Optimisation forum. Enough LG content over there, perhaps with a sticky explaining what's allowed in LG and what isn't, and they'll adapt soon enough. After that, perhaps, this forum might be interesting again. |

I dunno, I got some good tips, and I added a spinner to the shield boss of my fighter, and little tassels from the ends of his horn. I added a nice paintjob to his armor, and now across his belly there is an airbrushed mural of some people going off to work. I had his weapons chromed, and we added new platform boots. Too bad he looked at that bodak the wrong way. At least we all spun his shield one last time before emtombing him. |
| GreatSiron04-26-06, 10:58 PM | I for one don't mind all the build posts. (I have actually posted a few myself). I don't post in the CO board because they might suggest something that isn't LG legal, and I am not very good at telling what is legal and what isn't. Also, there is the access problem. As for a seperate board for LG character builds, I'd welcome it whole-heartedly. In fact, I wish they would. |

Post is here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=628463) I actually posted that in direct response to this thread. It really isn't that hard to get a good response for it from either the lgchardiscussion group or the CO board. You just need to scare off the people who might respond without knowing the ground rules - they're just trying to be helpful, but as you noted, they're not. If I see the post and I see something illegal or hard to get on the CO board, I'll generally try to comment on it as will several other people. |
| clik_ml04-27-06, 02:52 AM | Heh, tis more like "pimp my bladesinger." That being said, I'll still attempt to help people who ask for help over here. I'm kind of burnt out on the bladesingers though. We're on thread 3 for those in just the last couple weeks. Oy. |
| Dasher2k04-27-06, 04:19 AM | Is there a search function for the forums? I can't seem to find one. I must have missed that bladesinger post...guess I'll go look for it. |
| clik_ml04-27-06, 09:23 AM | They're actually still on the front page. Bladesinger build (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=625725) And the very closely related thread dealing with eldritch knights (who are much more superior to bladesingers mechanically) Newbie questions on a character build (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=626731) My synopsis being 1) It is critical that your character have decent strength and constitution (i.e. able to deal and take damage, as that is a melee character's job). Adding Int to damage is not worthwhile if you aren't also adding a decent strength to damage (and attack, natch). 2) Bladesinger is a class for a fighter who just wants a couple levels of utility spells. If you want any real casting at all (i.e. entering the class with more than 2 wizard levels), then bladesinger is a huge waste compared to its sister classes Eldritch Knight and a dip in Spellsword. As for the search function for the boards, I think they are shutting down the boards for a bit at the start of May, and afterward the search function will hopefully work. |
