I was thinking of running some core mods as online games, but I'm noticing that all the pdfs, while they allow you to select text for searches, don't allow for copy and pasting. Is there any way to fix this? It would be infinitely easier to c&p the spoken sections of the mods into an IM client than have to tedious scan and then ocr the scans into text, or worse... actually type all of this stuff out ahead of time.

Directly, no.

I know that there are some programs that can "crack" a PDF, and create a text document, so c-n-p is possible. I don't know the names of said programs, however.

solidconverter pdf is one I have. However, the files became so large when we did that it was much easier to select and convert small sections, which took almost as much time as typing.

I use a piece of software called "Advanced PDF Password Recovery Pro". It's shareware, but restricted when not registered. It's not crash hot at cracking PDFs; anything longer than 5 characters takes days to iterate through (that's 6 characters), although the dictionary attack is quite good.

If you know the password for a file, or you have a mod without a password, you can get it to decrypt the file. Then you can open it up with acrobat (full version), and go to page -> export pages, and tell it to export all pages to a new file. The file size usually decreases, as the digital signature is removed, as it the encryption stuff, and all restrictions on the file, so you can copy/paste. You may not need to have the full version of acrobat and do the export; I have to do this to bookmark the modules, which is counted as editing. Just decrypting might be enough to copy/paste.

I use this for running online, as well as for running off a laptop, as I can then bookmark the encounters and statblocks and so on.
