Now that the Blight arc is here, I have a question...

Quoting something from Fiend Folio:
A kaorti resin suit protects a creature on the Material Plane from the effects of the environment. So what level of protection does it give to heat and cold? I don't believe anyone has specified, and I have asked the question both here and elsewhere before.

Well, I didn't think this was a hard question, but in almost a month, nobody has been able to answer it. I'm hoping the delay is because it is being discussed... :)

I'm going to take a quote from an expired regional Ket module. It should be valid because the module itself likely took it from an appropriate source.

*********
Material Vulnerability (Ex): The Material Plane is painful to an unprotected kaorti. An unprotected kaorti must make a Fortitude save each hour (DC 15, +1 per previous check) or take 1d6 points of non-lethal damage and become fatigued. The fatigued condition persists until the kaorti recovers all the non-lethal damage it took from its exposure to the Material Plane. If a kaorti is rendered unconscious through the accumulation of non-lethal damage (from this ability or from any other source), the Material Plane begins to deal normal damage at the same rate. A kaorti wearing a resin suit, or a kaorti inside a cyst is protected from the effects of the Material Plane.

That is to say, the level of protection from heat or cold is nonexistent. Protection from the effects of the environment only deal with Kaorti who can't normally survive on the Material Plane.

Hope that helps,
