I see a lot of people on hear complaining about the authors of investigative mods but noone saying, "Thank you for the wonderful game." So I'd like to start a post where we thank a specific writer for their good work. I'll start.

I'd like to thank Matthew Crook for writting "Into the Scarlet Flames." A really good year 5 regional for the Yeomanry and my players loved it. Great work Matthew :)

Since I'm not from that region I haven't played it.

Thanks to all the authors who decide NOT to write an investigative mod.

Thanks to all the authors who decide NOT to write an investigative mod.

You obviously havn't played The Madhouse yet, by Britt Frey. By all accounts it was, hands down, the best and most fun module of last year (and I say this as an author) for the Iuz Border States region. Everyone I know had an absolutely blast playing it and the first question off everyone's lips was, "When's the next one coming out!?"..

Thanks, Puggle, but I don't know if Madhouse qualifies as an investigative mod. There's usually too much chaos going on to get any actual investigation done :)

HA! See Britt is a good author. He knows he would never want to be known as a "investigative mod writer". Such an association could send his career spiraling into inky blackness. Good move Britt.

Arent you the same person that said combat mods are too easy and too boring ?

Whoa watch your miss quoting mouth.

I said LG mods are too easy. :D

And I stand by those accusations. The most enjoyable mod I can remember was a Cor Special at Dragon Con. The mod was written that your supposed to go into the dungeon using 1 of 2 entrances and clear out 1/2. We took too long at the entry, all the monsters came up to us. We cleared out both sides at the same time!

(I'm also the person who advocates eliminating the limited list from LGCS for spells, feats and prestige classes. If something is too powerful ban it. If its not open it up so roleplayers can build their character. But lets not derail this thread please. Not everything is about me)

Thanks to Raj Shah, Jay Babcock, and Tanis O'Conner for writing BIS5-04 Uncovered Truths, which is the single best mod that I have ever played.

Thanks to Eric Menge and Diane Hazlett for writing the Song of Three Summonings (GEO4-03 Grace as Pure as Snow, GEO5-02 Love as Bright as Blood, and GEO5-08 Sorrow as Deep as Night) which is the best story arc that I've played. Its also the best treatment of Fey that I've run into in LG.

Although I've already given vocal support to Madhouse, personally even that module was overshadowed by one other module I played at SRDU- an Onwall module called Truth in Music. As everyone who travelled back with me will attest, I spent most of the journey home babbling about how much fun it was.

no that just makes him good at politcs :D Either way. The purpose of this thread isn't to thank the specific mod and writer I mentioned. Its to mention a mod and writer that you liked and say thanks.

I have to select only one? Hmm.
TSS5-03 The Medegian Job, by Luke Pitcher.
There's combat, investigation, intrigue, and a human element.
And thanks for the Zagygian librarian! Finally my PC met someone who thinks alike!

I want to thank JP Chapleau for all of his mods from Tusmit. 22 short stories, Daoud Where's my Cart (for actually having a use for Profession (sailor) that didn't require a boat), and many others.

Kudos to Creighton et.al. for the Blood on Bright Sands series. It's one of the best things that happened to LG recently.

I'd like to thank Jeff Dobberpuhl for both being a great triad and writing some very good mods, as well as everyone else who writes for the Sheild Lands!

Haven't run into a bad mod yet, well in our region at least. :)

Thanks to all the Ket writers, past and present. In particular, to Stephen Baker, who wrote 6 of the 8 rounds of Ket adventures in Year 6 (plus some interactives, and his work as the VTF Coordinator).

Even if his adventures left me on death's door more than once... a LOT more than once, actually :P

I want to put out thanks to ALL the authors in Furyondy, ESPECIALLY those who are currently writing mods and have worked with our recent "2 new Triad in 2 months" turnover. You people are amazing.

I also want to put out a special thanks to two authors who continually produce adventures for the region, and without which I don't think we'd be getting our 9th round each year. The first of these is Michelle Sharp, who was Triad for 5 years and filled in the holes in the adventure schedule by writing something to fill it (and I'm just learning now how daunting a task that is). The other is Andrew Nuxoll, who is coordinating one of the regional plotlines and, despite having no obligation to our region, eats almost half the regional mods each year by writing or advising on them.

I encourage those of you who aren't going to be in Michigan to sample Andy's writing (in collaboration with Andrew Lloyd, another excellent regional author) in COR6-19 Heir Aberrant. It's a fun time.

So I'd like to start a post where we thank a specific writer for their good work. I'll start.

Ah a positive thread. A happiness by itself. I am not sure I really know what an "investigative" mod is but I do think this one qualifies:

URC6-07 Connections by Nicole Johnson.

It really kept my interest, challenged me, and was fun. All that from a teenage author. My hat is off to her and I bow deeply.

Those lucky enough to play any Bruce Paris (he of Greyhawk Ruins and Time's Tide... fame) Perrenland regional scenario know the new 'hardest working man in showbiz' is a consistently excellent writer.

Similarly, Patrick Williamson's A Nation Mocked Perrenland plot arc is dark, twisted, complex and everything you could want in the campaign. If you are out of region and see scenarios by these two available - run and sign up. I recommend;

PER6-06 March of the Hollows
PER6-04 Death's Fury
