| astromist01-30-07, 10:52 AM | I just started playing LG, and only have a LV1 Chr atm. The adventure I want to play says APL2 for character 1-15. Does this mean I have to be level 2 to play in it? Sorry for such a newb question, i'm still reading the LGCS. |

The next-highest APL will be 4, then 6, etc. You often don't wind up playing at an APL that exactly matches your PC's level; odd-numbered levels are one issue, but so is having a mix of different levels at the table. Your rewards for playing are reduced (you only get half of the gold, and half of the XP) if the APL you play at is 3 or more above or below your PC level...in your case, if you played a module at APL 4, you'd only get half gold and half XP. "Playing up" is also often hazardous, but, in theory, you could play APL 14 with your 1st-level PC, though the odds of survival are likely slim. Most regions have Introductory modules, that are specifically written for 1st-level PCs (despite technically being APL 2). They are often a little "safer" for parties of 1st-level PCs, and are also a good way to get the feel for what your region is like. If you can't play Intros, for whatever reason, you do wind up being stuck playing "normal" modules at APL 2. In this case, it's highly recommended that your party not consist solely of 1st-level PCs; if you're all 1st level, then it's recommended that you either (a) make sure you have a full table of 6 PCs, or (b) buy some riding dogs to help you in combat (riding dogs tend to be better fighters than many 1st-level PCs :) ). |

| Britt01-30-07, 11:12 AM | I'll add a short section on APLs to the LGCS. I just realized there isn't one currently. |
