| Nightmare Beast08-07-06, 12:55 PM | Does anybody know if there is access to a limited spell favor in any year 5 or 6 Core? Don't tell me which mod., or such but a yes or no would suffice. I have played a lot of mods.(~100) in the past 2 years and found access in only 1 mod. (non Core) Giving out access to limited spells is very hard to find, which seems odd since about 80% of the spells in the Spell Compendium are limited. I just thought they would throw a bone out a bit more. Thanks. |

There are favors that give you specific limited spells, but I assume you're asking about open ended favors that let you pick the spells you want. Actually, it is probably worse than that for you - they probably errata'd the mod which gave you that favor. |

Since the Limited list is no longer a printed list, the general access favors have been removed. I was even told to change a very restricted general access favor (any one X-level limited X Class spell from the Spell Compendium) in a mod I wrote, and was told that if I wanted to grant access to those spells, I would have to list them all. Also, I've played all but two year 5 Cores and five of the twelve currently available year 6 cores, and I don't recall seeing access to any Limited spells in those adventures. I playtested a core mod that had a couple IIRC, but I've heard that the AR has changed significantly since the playtest, so they may not be there anymore (if they were even there to begin with). |

The biggest reason is indeed the removal of the limited list - which was removed to provide the Triads with quicker access to new material. As for access to limited spells, I know of at least one recent core that provides access to a few limited spells and one older, and I have approved several in my metaregion. Pieter Sleijpen RPGA Living Greyhawk Circle Member The Splintered Suns I was hoping you could answer a question for me about just what exactly is 'limited' these days. The LGCS says it's only from material from books listed therein (and they provide a list at the begining of the section) but Circle members have said (as you did above) that the reasoning was to include new books. Which is it? I'm not seeing how this gives the freedom you are saying (but I obviously don't understand it so that's probably not surprising). Thank you and my appologies if I'm being obtuse here, James |
