| falcore5106-30-07, 03:38 PM | I have tried playing in a few senarios around my area but my characters seem to end up dying because I am 2-3 levels below everyone else. There has not been enough interest to run the level 1 senario to level up some characters. So I was wondering if someone would be willing to run an online one. |

Note that you can't play Regional Intro modules online, unless all of the players, and the Judge, are from the same region. I believe that the Adapted modules can be played online, however, and there's at least one of those that is for 1st level PCs. |
| solbergb07-02-07, 01:19 PM | A number of the APL2 core mods (which can be played online) can go ok for a L1 character if the whole party isn't L1 characters. You do have to recognize that you are fragile relative to the challenges though, and act accordingly. (the average L2 character has nearly twice the hitpoints of a L1 character and much better equipment) Many conventions devote slots to intro mods for new characters, but I don't know if you're near anywhere that conventions happen. |
| Timlagor07-05-07, 06:36 PM | Ask for Scourge of the Howling Horde. I think there are at least a couple of people on LGD who still want it. |
| ithardin07-05-07, 06:43 PM | Consider taking advantage of the retraining rules as well. An extra feat for being human at 1st level could be the 3 hit points (toughness) that keep you alive and then are retrained at level 2 or 3 that makes you more in line with your character concept. A human wizard for instance could get 6 extra hit points with a toad familiar and toughness at first level. Just looking out for you :) Ian |
| falcore5107-11-07, 11:19 AM | This Time I am going to run a 1st level cleric with a con of 16 with the toughness feat. I hope 14 hitpoints will be enough. The biggest problem I think I was running around with all Level 2 and 3 characters and just was unlucky. |

The biggest problem I think I was running around with all Level 2 and 3 characters and just was unlucky. what a waste of a feat  i know that first level characters are really squishy and are susceptible to instant kills BUT the "toughness" feat is a no-go. two examples: just imagine you would take "augmented healing" or "divine ward" with the feat slot. "augmented healing" (the choice for for a low charisma cleric) will basically give the option to grant TWO characters two more hit points at level one and it increases with your cleric leveling. "divine ward" (the choice for a high charisma cleric or one with "extra turning") will allow your cleric to stay OUT OF DANGER and help against some of the nastiest effects in the game, just yesterday a "confused" team member - iconic heavy hitter dwarf - nearly killed a fellow adventurer. the ability to cast a "resurgence" from some distance is just too good (we hadn't that option, but my cleric was lucky with a "dispel magic"). ciao martin m. ps: if you plan to retrain the "toughness" asap . . . fine, but even then, your build would be more versatile at level one with some other feats. |
| solbergb07-11-07, 08:53 PM | Retraining toughness out at level 2 isn't so bad. it's like paying 100gp for +3 hitpoints for 3 adventures that last the whole day. Ditto with toad familiars, now that retraining is MUCH faster than the year long wait we used to have to do. |
| clannagh07-11-07, 09:31 PM | Ditto with toad familiars, now that retraining is MUCH faster than the year long wait we used to have to do. Retraining lets you change the CHOICE of a familiar but I fail to see how it avoids the 12 month wait for a new one once you dismiss the old choice. Has this been dispell confusioned or something ??? |
| solbergb07-12-07, 12:02 PM | changing the choice means you never dismiss it. Thus no wait. The old mechanic was "dismiss, wait one calendar year, pay 100gp" the new, alternate mechanic is "pay 100gpxlevel+4TU when leveling and retroactively change your class feature, takes effect right now" |
