Living Realms Rumor/Speculation thread? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-20-07, 09:42 AM I'll be the first to admit that after all the official 'no v4 announcements at Gencon2007' and 'no plans to retire LG after the current story arc' I was a bit blind-sided by what I learned at my first Gencon.

So now the cat's out of the bag, I'd like to start a thread on what LR is going to be. Let's be civil folks. :)

Some things I thought of:

AR/Cert model?
Regional by real-world geography or 'faction-based' like Xen'drik Expeditions?
Pay to join?
Pay to play? (other than the books of course).
Pay for better access?
Pay for 'special stuff?'
Rewards cards/benefits (yes/no/what kind?).
Will existing Triad members/volunteers be able to 'transfer?'
Transfer of existing characters? Any system can be converted into another system. For simplicity, LR could go with criteria based upon xp/wealth. For example "Your level 10 fighter with net worth of X gold coverts to a Rank Y/whatever with Z gold."
Duration of LR story arc?

08-21-07, 12:18 PM This will not be like 3.0 becomming 3.5 once 4.0 hit's everything that came before is considered null and void. Oh it will be D20 and that's all the two will have in common. I want to know if there will be new races a demon or two would be great.

08-22-07, 04:10 PM i can only guess why they haven't had a LFR forum yet. one of the reasons may be b/c there is no staff other than RPGA HQ that could answer questions and even then they may not be able to answer the questions posed. i wouldn't expect a forum until the staff is in place.

since there is no general forum under RPGA Campaigns.

08-22-07, 06:07 PM As this does specifically effect LG players and how LG policies and regions may adapt into the new FR, I'd ask that you consider letting us keep this thread here where LG folks might look for anf find it. At least until there are FR/RPGA pages.

08-23-07, 01:25 AM what i didn't like in their little demo video was when that one guy mentioned the Tome of Battle in a FAVORABLE WAY. LIKE it was a good book. That book was garbage. On the video you can hear like 5 people clap. I hope thats not what they're shooting for. Please God no :(

I keep hearing that it's being used to explain the changes with 4.0, that it is a ripple effect from something in the past, and that it involves Halaster somehow.

Anyone know?

Oh, and I heard the setting is being set 10 years from the current dates. The Grand History of the Realms book will cover a few years ahead of the current time line, but not all the way to the 10 year mark.
