Looking for a spell [Archive] - Wizards Community

If I remember correctly, there was a spell in the Book of Vile Darkness called mindrape, but I don't know if you can cast that upon yourself. Basically steals knowledge...but my memory is a little fuzzy. Haven't had a need to look at that book in quite some time...either way, it's impossible to cast in LG. Both because of the fact that it's in the BoVD and I think it's a 9th-level spell.

05-24-07, 07:53 PM Modify Memory - a 4th level Bard spell. It's target is "one living creature" so presumably you could cast it upon yourself, but I can easily see a DM questioning that use. It can only affect about 5 minutes of memory in rather limited ways (no negating a geas/charm/suggestion/etc).

05-25-07, 01:02 PM There is a mage spell in the spell compendium - memory crystal? or something like that? It allows you to 'store' your memory in a bottle or crystal. Although the main use appears to be to 'save game' and thus not lose xp from dying when about to be doing something dangerous, it had a backup use of storing a memory which would then be removed from your actual memory, and kept in the crystal instead.

I'm probably misremembering horribly of course - don't have the book with me.

05-25-07, 03:57 PM You could probably meta-magic a modify memory spell to good effect.

Certain types of mind control could work too: I suggest you forget, etc.
