Just because there is a forum to discuss Greyhawk in 4e doesn't mean that WotC is producing products for that campaign. There is also a Dragonlance forum and in the Other Campaigns, Planescape is listed.

I think they are just listing every campaign that they have ever supported and letting players talk about how they would convert existing material to 4e.

Random Joe Blow posters are starting threads to particular settings in the Other Campaigns forum. That does not count as Every setting getting its own forum. Only four rated their own forum, Greyhawk was one of them. It is worth noting.

Greyhawk might not die after 4.0, but LG will die. At least for the first 1-2 years while they work at LFR.

Yes it is they have already said Greyhawk, Ebberon, and there respective worlds are over in 16 months. Xen'drik Expidition expires in less than a year with LG expiring as of 12/31/08. WOTC has stated 4E is a clean slate and nothing from 3.5 will continue. Living Forgotten Realms mabye the only exception and who know that mabye a 4E revamp as well.

I wonder if they'll give Greyhawk the campaign model with a 2 year life span and auto level mechanics? It'll be interesting to see if LG is popular enough to overcome most people's reluctance to play in that type of campaign model.

Ummm...Greyhawk is a region of Oerth, and 4.0 will still be based on Oerth, so....NO DUH!!! Living Greyhawk is retiring, but the regions are permanent.

Xen'drik Expedition adventures retire at the same time LG adventures do: 12/31/08.

I have heard nowhere that 4e will have a default setting. I have heard over and over again that 4e will be setting neutral but will have some basic "assumptions" of a setting summarized as "Points of Light". Nothing about Oerth, Greyhawk, or Flanaess . . . beyond reusing some of the names of Greyhawk NPCs in spell names.

Same here, can we get a link to where it's stated that Oerth will be the default world?

Well, Oerth was the default world for all of 3.0 and 3.5, and Oerth is the D&D equivalent of Earth, it just stands to reason that it would be default. Forgotten Realms is going to be the first alternate scenario campaign converted to 4.0, it's likely not going to be the PHB standard locale. This isn't known fact, merely supposition based on logic.

Oerth is the Greyhawk equivalent to Earth, not the D&D equivalent. Now, whenever D&D uses Greyhawk, it becomes the default, but that's not necessarily the case. If FR were the default campaign world, Toril would be the equivalent of Earth. For 4.0, WotC has hinted that the original PH will be setting neutral, though I'm not quite sure how that can be accomplished, since the human gods tend to be campaign specific and you have to list gods in the PH, I would think. We'll see in a few months, though.

I wouldn't assume that at all, you're making quite a leap of faith, though I'd certainly be ok if it turned out that way....

Well, Oerth was the default world for all of 3.0 and 3.5, and Oerth is the D&D equivalent of Earth, it just stands to reason that it would be default. But that reason has to overcome public statements like those made at the 4e Q&A seminar at GenCon where it was said (http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=204434),"Greyhawk will not be default setting in core. We want to leverage the assets of the assumed parts of a D&D world – Mordenkainen, Bigby, Vecna, Llolth, Tiamat, Asmodeus, etc. However, we also want to call upon the great mythology that is more commonly known such as Thor, etc."

Mark4E will not be based on Oerth. Greyhawk will not, in any way, shape, or form, be the default setting for 4E. That's a fact. There will not be a default setting for 4E as we think of it. What there will be is more of a default theme. Its called "points of light in a sea of darkness."

The point of this thread is that 4E is the first D&D edition launching since OD&D with no publicly stated support for Greyhawk that will appear in print form.

You might want to smack your forehead again.

Well a quick perusal of those boards reveals the greyhawk forum is lagging well behind every other campaign in popularity. The only forum Greyhawk is beating is the one for discussion of Dragonlance books.

That could be because there are three other forums for Greyhawk already, namely the LG forums. There's not much to discuss in a 4E Greyhawk forum, other than asking repetitively for Greyhawk to be supported. Most other Greyhawk related threads would be here.

Most other Greyhawk related threads would be here. Also, before these 4E forums were created, there were threads for 4E Eberron, 4E FR, and 4E Other Campaigns. Those three threads were moved into their current forums where they already had an enormous number of posts. If you look past those three threads, Greyhawk is holding its own.

My current thought and/or hope is that Wizards is just holding off on Greyhawk for now. Honestly, while they can easily publish a Forgotten Realms setting book for 4th edition and they can publish one for Eberron for 4th edition with no real bumps in the process, I doubt they could do the same with Greyhawk right now.

I've heard that there might be some legal difficulties involving the wording that was used for Greyhawk scenarios. Even if you ignore that issue, however, I don't personally see how Wizards could ever hope to publish a 4th edition Greyhawk setting manual right now. They don't know what's going to happen. The campaign has evolved in countless ways since LG took course, and they have allow the campaign to finish before they could hope to publish a Greyhawk setting manual. Even after the final results are in there will likely be a significant period of allowing the Triads and Circles to compile the results for all of their regions so they can hand over some sort of 'This is Greyhawk' document to Wizards.

Only then could Wizards even publish a Greyhawk setting manual...if they have any intention to do so. Maybe they don't even care to know what we did with Greyhawk over the years. Maybe there's no effort being made by Wizards to solidify what we've done with Greyhawk. I don't know. It will be a while, I think, before they can even tell what we've done with it and make decisions from there though.

Most of us who participated in LG would like to see that carry over to the next Greyhawk campaign book. If such a book were rushed out soon, there would never be enough time to cover the legal bases. I imagine that a rushed Greyhawk book would have to leave out LG developments.
