| Ygor Morais01-27-05, 12:39 PM | Ok, I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As you can see there is no triad here and also no one to ask about my doubts. I readed somewhere I would have to choose a region but i'd not count as a member of that region, in fact i'd be treated as 'regionless', meaning i'd only play core adventures. It sucks! I am not guilty that there is no triad here and no plans to expand, there is D&D in portuguese and i'm sure there are more than a few players here! But this is not the point, sorry, I just had to complain about it. I don't know how to 'sign up' at any of the metaregions and it is not an intuitive process since i've been surfing around for ages and had not found a way to do that being from a place without a triad. Also I saw the adventure ordering page and it is also confusing. We don't have sponsored conventions here, in fact we hardly have conventions in Rio at all since the end of the 90's. I want to order games for home use, how do I do that? the last time I thought had ordered an adventure but none shown up and I had no contact about it. Do I have to pay for something? do I get it by e-mail or some eletronic way? or is it a hardcopy sent to me? The RPGA is very user UNfriendly about adventure ordering... A good long explanation about how things work and who (and how) I must contact would be VERY welcome! Thanks in advance! Y |

This does not matter much since you are only playing core modules. You cannot 'sign-up' for any meta-regions. Play numbers are viewed each year and if they become high enough, adding a country to an existing region is considered. Circle has said they are debating of ways to allow regionless players more opportunities but this will most likely have to wait until next LGCS update or even longer. Also I saw the adventure ordering page and it is also confusing. We don't have sponsored conventions here, in fact we hardly have conventions in Rio at all since the end of the 90's. Log on (if you are RPGA member, which you can do by taking the Herald test) and on the ordering form you mark 'homegame'. Set the adventure filter to 'living greyhawk' and choose a core module (like COR4-01 Shedding scales) Do I have to pay for something? do I get it by e-mail or some eletronic way? or is it a hardcopy sent to me? The RPGA is very user UNfriendly about adventure ordering... You don't have to pay anything. Once you order a core module you download it from RPGA page. Then you either print it out or run it with your laptop by reading the .pdf file. Only thing you really need to print out are the Adventure Records supplied in the same file so you can give them to your players. Hope this helps. S.H, Ahlissa (Naerie) webslave |

Not entirely true, though it may be effectively true for you. You can *play* adventures from *any* region, regardless of where you live. The issue is that you have to be currently *in* a region to play an adventure for that region. Thus, if you found yourself in Chicago (which is in Verbobonc), you could play Verbobonc regional adventures. If you play adventures from outside of your region, you pay more TUs for it. However, if you're looking at what you can order for play in your home area, then yes, you're effectively limited to playing Cores, because Brazil isn't assigned to an active region. I don't know how to 'sign up' at any of the metaregions and it is not an intuitive process since i've been surfing around for ages and had not found a way to do that being from a place without a triad. I may be wrong (and I welcome correction if I am), but I don't think you can sign up for a metaregion. You belong to a metaregion by virtue of belonging to a region that comprises part of that metaregion. In other words, if you live in Chicago (and are thus part of the Verbobonc region), you'd also belong to the Velverdyva Trade Route metaregion (because Verbobonc is part of that metaregion). Since you're regionless, you're metaregionless, too, unfortunately. :( Also I saw the adventure ordering page and it is also confusing. We don't have sponsored conventions here, in fact we hardly have conventions in Rio at all since the end of the 90's. I want to order games for home use, how do I do that? the last time I thought had ordered an adventure but none shown up and I had no contact about it. This is actually pretty easy. - Go to the RPGA page (http://www.wizards.com/rpga/) - In the upper-right-hand corner of that page, there's an orange button labeled "Member sign on" - click on that - Log yourself in, using your RPGA # and password - On the next page, click on the first hyperlink - "Request Scenarios for a Gathering" - On the following page, where you supply the details of your "gathering", you select "Home" in the "Type of Play" pull-down menu - You have to supply other info, too, such as the dates and location of your event. - Once you do this, you're allowed to select which adventures you want to order for your event. (Note: when I just did this, and filtered on "Living Greyhawk", it showed every LG adventure that's currently available, including *all* the regionals and metaregionals. I'm not sure if that's a glitch, or if the system "catches" illegal orders later on, but since you have to get the Adventure Records for regionals and metas from the local Triad, you still can't effectively run "illegal" regionals, anyway.) (BTW, at the moment, I found 17 Core modules available for play.) - After selecting your adventures (and, IIRC, confirming all that), you go back to your "Member Home Page" (the one that had the "Request Scenarios for a Gathering" link before) -- there'll be a "Download Scenarios" hyperlink for the event you just set up. Click on that link, and you'll get a link to download the PDFs for whatever adventures you ordered. Do I have to pay for something? do I get it by e-mail or some eletronic way? or is it a hardcopy sent to me? The RPGA is very user UNfriendly about adventure ordering... No, you don't have to pay anything...the RPGA is totally free now. :D See above for how you get it. Yes, they really do need a guide for how to do all this. Hope this helps. Mike Mistele |
| Ygor Morais01-27-05, 04:37 PM | You two helped me a lot! I think i'll be able to actually start playing now! My last doubt is about what do i do after I finish the adventure? It looks like there is a need to report back to the RPGA, I didn't understand if this is just for events or if it applies to home games too. And i'd like to know if the characters are sent/registered/stored somewhere, when i finish playing the module I have to send the characters as they stand after the adventure? Thanks for the swift and very eye opening answers! Y |
| King Kashue01-27-05, 05:28 PM | With Living Greyhawk, the only reporting that needs to be done is to report the RPGA#s of the Judge (DM) and the players...It's done through the exact same screen that you order through... As for the progression of the players, that is not tracked through the RPGA, but by the players themselves...At the end of each module, they will receive an 'Adventure Record' (also known as an 'AR')...They will record the various outcome information on that sheet (XP gained, GP gained, any consequences both good and bad, etc.)...They keep each AR for their characters, so that every item they have, every favor with an NPC, etc is recorded there. |
| kenobi6501-27-05, 05:29 PM | (KK beat me to some of this by a minute. Bastadge! :D ) My last doubt is about what do i do after I finish the adventure? It looks like there is a need to report back to the RPGA, I didn't understand if this is just for events or if it applies to home games too. After the adventure, you go back to that same Member page that you used for ordering; after the date that you'd put in for your event when you registered it, that page will contain a hyperlink that says "Report Results" or some such. All you do then is fill in some spaces with the RPGA #s of the DM and players for each session you ran, and you're all set. And, yes, you need to do this, even if you're doing a "home play" event. it's still an official RPGA event, and you still need to follow the procedures. And i'd like to know if the characters are sent/registered/stored somewhere, when i finish playing the module I have to send the characters as they stand after the adventure? For campaigns like Living Greyhawk, the individual players are responsible for maintaining / updating their PCs. There's no official registration / storage / whatever. For each adventure the PCs play, they receive an "Adventure Record", a sheet of paper that details what they received on that adventure (XP, gold, etc.) Each player is responsible for maintaing all of the paperwork for his PC, and having it available for the Judge to inspect if need be (for instance, if the Judge wants proof of how the PC came to have a particular item.) Other Living campaigns do it a little differently, but most have some sort of paperwork / logsheets that the players are responsible for filling out. (Just FYI, the D&D Campaigns, Legacy of the Green Regent and Mark of Heroes, maintain the PCs online, so registering the results of games in those campaigns is a little more complex.) Thanks for the swift and very eye opening answers! You're welcome! Mike |

It looks like there is a need to report back to the RPGA, I didn't understand if this is just for events or if it applies to home games too. - to RPGA an event is either a convention, or a game day, or a home game. A convention is a planned event probably having 25 or more "tables", whereas a game day can be up to 5 modules, with one or more tables for each module actually played. You can order up to 5 different adventures for a game play, but actually play only one or more. A home game has at most two adventures. You choose the event date and after that date you sign on to your RPGA # and report your actual tables. For each table, you need to report the name of the adventure (from a pull down list), the RPGA# of the judge(GM/DM) and the RPGA# of the 4-6 players who participated in that table. A session is a table. If you run one table of one adventure, you only have one session to report. If you run two tables of one adventure, you will have two sessions to report. If there are not enough available tables, you may add a session. Then select that session number and enter the information noted above. When done entering all sessons, click on "Validate all Tables" and your event is reported! And i'd like to know if the characters are sent/registered/stored somewhere, when i finish playing the module I have to send the characters as they stand after the adventure? - The only records of the characters are what each player keeps with them, including an up to date character sheet, Master Item List(MIL), Item Creation Sheets (for magic items created), each Adventure Record(AR) from each game played, and any miscellaneous sheets gained (usually meta-org sheets or special sheets from an adventure). - In the D&D Campaigns, such as Legend of the Green Regent, or Mark of Heroes, the character names and initial class are noted, and a couple addition fields are reported along with the player's RPGA#, but this is ONLY for the two D&D Campaigns noted above, not Living Greyhawk. |

A clarification for you: "Conventions" and "game days" are considered to be "open events" by the RPGA -- these types of events show up on the RPGA event calendar, and there's an expectation that the public is welcome to attend and play (assuming that there's room). On the other hand, "Home" events don't show up on the event calendar, and the RPGA assumes that they're private events. Also...if you register your event as "home" play, you (the person registering the event and downloading the modules) are no longer eligible to play those modules, though you can still Judge them. |
