Well, once again I received Player Reward Cards. I was expecting to get them from Set #2 still, but that didn't happen. Instead, I received cards from a brand new set that isn't even posted on the webpage yet. And once again, none of the cards could be useable in Living Greyhawk.

I know they started releasing cards for their new campaign in order to garner interest in Eberron, but it's having the opposite effect. I won't get into Eberron because the card sets are so unfriendly to people who play Living Greyhawk.
One of the new cards, Master's Luck, lets you spend the card to give your animal companion, familiar, or special mount an action point. Now, I don't know what exactly is the purpose of action points or action dice, nor do I wish to know, but would it be too hard for the Circle to say something like "Yes, you can use this card in LG, but instead it allows that animal to reroll once (or, instead, gives it a bonus)".

I know there are lots of ways to give familiars and special mounts long-term protection, but my animal companion is very succeptible to bad things. It took a long time to get intelligence for my companion, and I fear for his life in future modules. He can take the Soul of the North feat from CA, but I can't revive him with Last Breath, even though his soul hasn't even left his body yet. Does this seem wrong to anybody else? :)

Yes... it does seem wrong, mainly because I see nowhere in Last Breath anything saying that you can't use it on an animal companion or something similar. One PC I encountered prepares the spell specifically to keep his intelligent animal companion around.

I have no idea what the new set 3 cards or anything like that so a ruling from the circle won't be coming for a long while. (i haven't gotten any cards yet..)

that being said from what you describe i do not think we can allow that one b/c of the action point..

The Last Breath on an animal companion problem comes from the LGCS 4-2, pg 58:
"Q: What happens when my familiar, animal companion or paladin’s mount dies?
A: It is the circle’s ruling that paladin’s mounts and animal companions would not want to be raised from the dead and are therefore cannot be raised. When they die their soul departs to the relevant plane. This also applies if the PC wants to employ a resurrection or true resurrection spell. Reincarnation only works on PCs or their cohorts, if applicable."

I didn't see this post and I just posted a similar thread. Ooops.

I have to agree about the "opposite effect" theory. We too have forsaken Eberron due to the fact RPGA is sending us LG players rewards cards they know have no value to us beyond disposable coasters.

If I was designing these cards, I would have given a modest use for the loyal LG players, as well as an added incentive when used in Eberron, on EVERY card... but I may have more insight here than most in this area having just completed my master degree in business and being an LG player. I haven't secured employment yet, perhaps WotC could bring me on as an advisor (a shameless attempt at securing employment). ;)

Stephen Conforti has mentioned on the LG Yahoo! Group that the cards "Swift Response" and "Dol Arrah's Sacrifice" are the two cards from Set 3 that are legal in LG effective immediately.

Well, the one good thing about Swift Response... I can finally see a reason to scribe a scroll of Last Breath, now that I can retrieve it as a free action.
