| wagnert02-22-07, 01:38 PM | What is this "Memento Magicka" being talked about. I have access to purchase a 1st level "Memento Magicka" but don't know where it is from or what it does? Could someone clue me in on what it is and how it is useful? |
| Britt02-22-07, 01:42 PM | Races of the Dragon. Pearls of Power for spontaneous casters that cost 150% of the PoP price. |
| Munkwunk02-22-07, 01:43 PM | It's like a Pearl of Power for spontaneous casters. I believe it's from Races of the Dragon (but dont' quote me on that). I do know that it's 150% the cost of a Pearl. Edit: Too slow. |
| wagnert02-22-07, 02:16 PM | Races of the Dragon. Pearls of Power for spontaneous casters that cost 150% of the PoP price. Thanks. It's useless for my cleric/enchantress/mystic theurge then. However, for my warmage, it could be very useful. I'll have to checkout that book "Races of the Dragon" to see what else is in there that can be used in LG. |
| KarmaInferno02-22-07, 02:48 PM | So far I've only seen them in ONE mod I've played, in the mass of ARs I have sitting here. I just thanks the gods I happened to play my warmage in that one. I would have cried if I'd ended up playing my barbarian or cleric or whatever. -karma |
| Jay_Ibero_91102-22-07, 03:10 PM | Figures I get Memento's with my prep casters and pearls with my spontaneous ones...Wonder what the pre-reqs are though...would be fun for my druid to craft a bunch of the memento's he has access too if he can... |
| Timlagor02-22-07, 03:33 PM | Don't Warmages get enough slots already? |
| trollbill02-22-07, 03:59 PM | I play a Sorcerer and have gotten access to Momento Magikas twice. I haven't bought any. I haven't run out of low level spells slots since 4th-level. |

I'll have to checkout that book "Races of the Dragon" to see what else is in there that can be used in LG. Open items from the book are limited to the Dragonic Heritage feat and most of the feats that require that feat (four out of six feats). That's it. On the other hand, nothing is Closed either. |

I haven't run out of low level spells slots since 4th-level. *sigh* Yeah. I don't actually like the item, because it takes up precious AR space: if authors are looking for cool access to give sorcerers, I'd much prefer metamagic rods or Limited spells, or some of the cool rings from Complete Arcane / Complete Mage, rather than an item that gives me MORE low-level spell slots that I'll never use. They do seem very nice for bards, though. |
| Japangirl02-22-07, 07:07 PM | Good for bards, sorc dips (my rogue has one), full sorcerors (I know you *can* run out of spells), sorceror theurges if there are any . . . not great for a lot of characters, but still nice to be out there. |

Favored Souls too...unless the item specifies spontaneous ARCANE casters.... |
| Japangirl02-22-07, 11:29 PM | It does not. It's great for Favored Souls and Warmages. Yes I know Warmages are Arcane casters, I just forgot to mention them earlier. |
| KarmaInferno02-23-07, 02:12 PM | Don't Warmages get enough slots already? YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY SPELL SLOTS. Because you're a warmage, some day you'll inevitably want to blow up the world, and you'll need all the slots you can get for that. :D -karma |
| trollbill02-23-07, 02:35 PM | Well, I'd say its definitely useful to Favored Souls. You can never have too many cures. |
| sibyl02-23-07, 04:15 PM | My Druid got one. Useless to her, but she hands them out to spontaneous casters she sits down with. Since they're still fairly rare, its always been welcome. By the time we go to the end fight at APL 8, our 9th level Sorcerer ran out of everything but 0 level spells. Getting a spell slot back, even a low level one, was quite welcome at that point. We were all pretty exausted by the end of that fight... |

We were all pretty exausted by the end of that fight... Wow. I want to play that module ;) The last time my sorc ran out of non-cantrip spell slots was L5, I think. She's occasionally come close to running out of top-tier slots, but only when she does silly stuff like burning all her L5 slots on teleports and all her L3 slots on phantom steeds for all the PCs and NPCs. Even keeping up Friendly Face and See Invisibility all day doesn't deplete her L1-2 slots. If I was going to spend 10-15k on a magic item, I would MUCH rather have, say, a full rod of energy substitution / extend spell / enlarge spell, or the ring from CM that lets you reroll caster level checks, rather than a L3 memento magica. I'm not saying that they're entirely useless for sorcerers, just that neither of my sorcerers would ever contemplate buying one. |

Not so much fun, after all. :) I agree its not for everyone, but it can come in handy. |
