I was looking around the internet...and I am deeply confused here. I'm reading Living Greyhawk Campaign info online, and they're talking about sub-races and I'm hearing metaorginizations left and right...and I'm just so confused. I just began my Living Greyhawk Career...I'm a Level 2 Fighter, and confused. Where is a list of Metaorginizations and Sub-Races? Where are they detailed? What about Living Greyhawk Feats?

And, secondly...I was wondering if someone could help me out on this regard. My Fighter, a human...I was wondering if I made the right decision here. I have Strength 16, Dexterity 10, Constitution 14, Intelligence 10, Wisdom 12, Charisma 12. I understand because of the low Dexterity, my AC took a hit that I might need in the future. But with the high attack: I usually take down opponents in one or two rounds anyways. I was hoping to multi-class as a Favored Soul of Bahamut...That being said, did I make the right decision? I eventually was hoping to get Charisma 14 by Level 12...But I don't know. Opinions? Suggestions? Thanks.

First of all, I'll suppose you downloaded the LG Campaign Sourcebook (596 CY). If you haven't, do so now.

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=lg/welcome
(upper right box, under Campaign Documents)

Second, some races have subraces in LG (and other settings). Take a look at the LGCS on page 10 (boxed text at the top of the page). This means that instead of playing a "generic" dwarf, elf, etc.. straight from PHB, you can play a subrace of that species.

Third, meta-organizations are a sort of regional guilds. Currently, I don't think there are any Core MO, so these are all "regional". A full explanation can be found in the LGCS on page 7 under the Metacampaign Groups heading.

To discover which MO you can join, visit the website (or Yahoo's group) of your region. They usually have them listed with full info.

Fourth, there are some classes/PrC/feats/spells from optional sourcebooks which you can use in LG. These are also listed in the appropriate sections of the LGCS. Please note that anything not listed falls automatically in the "Limited" category (thus you need to gain access, either through a MO or an AR)

Welcome to LG and good luck!

yea, welcome to the confusing universe of living greyhawk :)

metaorganizations are means for regional flavour and some are means for access to certain prestige classes or other goodies. depending on your home region (find out about it in the lgcs-596, p. 5) you should take a look at your regional lg homepage and the surrounding regions (when you have the intention and opportunity to play there too).

for the sub-races of humans and other playable races there is a lot of canon information in several lg sources way back to the famous "world of greyhawk boxed" set from 1983 and additional information in the lgcs and via regional material. a special matter is the "bright desert" story arc. for characters with home in the bright desert you need access to the "sandstorm" supplement.

living greyhawk sports some feats from two issues of dragon magazine, #315 and #319.

for your built: yea, fighters are "easy" characters, so this was a good choice to start with. the combination of fighter with favoured soul of bahamut (so you seem to have found the lgcs deities document already :) ) is very appealing and offeres some nice opportunities.
btw, with a stat bump point every 4 levels you should get to charisma 14 at level 8.

Sounds like you have a good handle on your character. Try Fighter2 Favored Soul 4 Fighter 2 then either a fun prestige class or fighter until you retire. If hexblade appeals to you take a few levels then take dragon disciple. Are you using Bahamut's favored weapon?

There is no 'right' or 'wrong' descision, other than cheating which is clearly wrong. As long as you having fun and adding to the fun of the group, your headed in the right direction. There is no such thing as a 'best' character; there is the character you enjoy playing and that's the important thing. Yes, you will encounter more 'tweaked' characters while adventuring in LG (be they meta magiced wizards, quick casting clerics, skill monkeys, or power attacking HP tanks). Decide what your character is about and let the rest work itself out. Fighter is good place to start; the only problem with favored soul is that you can't really change your spells once you've picked them so choose carefully with the long range picture in mind as far as your spells go. When I mix spellcasting classes I can't lay off practiced spellcaster, but that's my inner munchkin talking.

And above all else, have fun and make your own decisions about your character. don't let the 'old veterans' warp your sense of fun about this game or change your opinion about this being a game. Character death happens, but that's just the luck of the dice or bad planning.

But if you want help planning a course many of us are more than willing to put in our two cents. If you want suggestions for your spell list/feat selection just let us know and we'll help munchkin your guy; just be sure it doesn't become a pile of numbers and stays your guy with the background and personality you designed.

To a point, but folks need to remember that sitting down at a table means you're going to do your share for the party...This doesn't mean that you need to be min/maxed, but you better be able to contribute somehow. (This goes to the "fun of the group" idea)

Having fun playing a character with 8 con, 8 int, and 18 char, with a BAB of 0, 1 level of 7 classes, and all cross class skills based off your lowest attributes, isn't going to be fun for anyone else at the table :D

I've only seen 1 or 2 utterly useless characters in my time, but I've met folks who consistanltly tried to play down 2 apl tiers because their character was incapable of contributing anything...

Your info says you're from Michigan, which means you're a resident of Furyondy. Furyondy's website is www.furyondy.com. You can find a link there to download the guidebook which will give you more info on all the various meta-orgs in Furyondy. As a fighter, you might be interested in the Furyondy Infantry, Knights of the Hart, or Thunderheart Mercenary Guild.

Also, you might be interested in a con that's coming up soon called Pan Mayhem, at Pandemonium Games in Garden City, May 5-7. There should be more info about that on the Furyondy site, or at www.warhorn.net/pandemoniummayhem2006

I'm actually preparing for Mayhem as we speak =) Ordered my Player's Guide and some paperback called the Living Greyhawk Gazetter, which it might even help.
