I live in Connecticut (Sheldomar Valley) and will be moving to Minnesota in a few months (Iuz 's Border States).

The Wizards' website has year 6 scenarios for Sheldomar and no scenarios for Iuz.

How do I order these for home play? Do I contact the triad and they email them to me?

Are they even available?

Or have they been moved to the RPGA database?

Also, on a separate but related note, it seems the shield lands website is nonexistent. What do people in Minnesota and other shield lands do to get regional and metaregional adventures?

Thanks for any and all replies.

contact the triad POC for mods as below

you need to order them from the database in the normal way, then forward the mail you get with the scheduling codes to your POC..they will then email you the mods

Year 6 regional/metaregional mods are no longer available. It's only the year 6 core mods that have not retired.

There will be no Shield Lands website. The contract for the server expired shortly after the end of the campaign was announced, and no one felt it was necessary to renew it.

If you want to play adventures, keep your eye on the Source Game Day (recurring game day on Warhorn.net) as we will premier most of the new adventures at the monthly game days. We're probably going to have only 1 regional convention.

We still have a pretty solid player base, though a lot of the energy has dissipated in the wake of the 4e announcement. You're best off networking when you get to MN. Begin by shooting me a private message; that's probably your best option.

Thanks very much for your replies!

My group is essentially a "home group". Basically, we don't tend to go to conventions, but we love living greyhawk and a lot of the RPGA stuff (it works well with our busy schedules, since it is in ~4 hr blocks and has apls).

When I move to Minnesota, I plan on figuring out some way to play over the distance with them (internet, conference call, etc). While I'd also be interested in networking, for me D&D is more about getting together with friends I already have and don't get to see as often as I'd like rather than just getting to play the game...(although who doesn't want more friends? :) )

I know that year 6 scenarios are retired, and want to play 7 and 8. They just aren't up on wizards' website the way year 6 was. Are you guys saying that I just email the triad head and he/she will email me the actual modules? I can totally do that, I just want to make sure I'm not going to be expecting stuff that never comes and have to whip up a game last minute. (Uh....you fight an abishai, and then an arumvorax, and also an allip....now on to the "b's")...

Lomiat, are you the Minnesota triad head that I should contact for these once I move?

No, he's just their gopher. That way he gets to play the games he doesn't write ;-)

You gonna be around anytime soon, Lomiat? We're missing you! ;-)

Keep in mind that, if your friends are back in Sheldomar Valley, and you're in Iuz's Border States, you're going to be limited in what you can play online. The original rule was only Cores online, but I think you can now play Regionals and Metaregionals, if most (or maybe all, I'm not sure) of the players are actually currently located in the correct region.

From the LGCS:

Online Play
Note: Teleconferencing is considered ‘online’ play.
All adventures may be played online. Regionals and Metaregionals require both the GM and more than 50% of the players to be at one physical location within the region or metaregion, respectively. Your registered RPGA address must be within the region or metaregion, respectively, to play a Regional or Metaregional online.
The adventures must be ordered and reported just like any other RPGA event. The GM must mail or otherwise deliver the signed ARs to the participants. His signature must appear on the paperwork.

Thanks; I couldn't find the relevant quote.

So, this means that, if you have players who physically live (i.e., where their registered RPGA addresses say they live) in different regions or metaregions, they can't participate in a regional or metaregional together online.

If I understand this correctly, in Aberzanzorax's situation...if he were temporarily relocationg to Minnesota (say, for a school year), but is keeping his permanent address at his prior residence, and the rest of his group were still back in "Sheldomar Valley", they could play Sheldomar Valley metaregionals together online (and whatever region they live in, too). But, if Aberzanzorax is permanently moving to Minnesota (i.e., he's changing his RPGA registration to indicate that he's a Minnesota resident), then the only modules that he and his old group can play together online are Cores. And, regardless, they wouldn't be able to play Iuz's Border States metaregionals together online.

Nope. Assuming the second case, where the OP is moving and updating his RPGA address, they could play the Shield Lands' modules online if and only if at least 50% are in the same physical location at the time of play, and those 2-3 players are also in the region or metaregion of the module itself, in other words: at least half the players have to be in the Shield Lands, at the same location while playing.

Sort of strange rules, especially since it would tend to cause any non-Core online games to wind up being played at a CyberCafe, so everyone can fully participate. Either that, or you get a bunch of people holding a LAN party with laptops and a, hopefully, high-speed Internet connection...

I guess I don't read it that way. The sentence "Your registered RPGA address must be within the region or metaregion, respectively, to play a Regional or Metaregional online", to me, doesn't just apply to those 50% who are in one physical location, but to everybody participating.

But, hey, maybe I'm wrong.

Your registered RPGA address must be within the region or metaregion, respectively, to play a Regional or Metaregional online. If you do not 'live' somewhere, the only way to play a (meta)regional is to be in that (meta)region.

If you are temporarily way from home, you can join (meta)regionals remotely, but that is the only way that you can do it.

I should be ok. I'm moving with two players and the other two players live in Jersey, and then there's me the DM. I'll be moving "permanently" for a year, and then probably moving somewhere else again, but this will become my permanent address for that time period.

In any case, two players and myself will be at one location and the other two will be at another single location. Plus if they visit for a week we can do some megagaming...

This still leaves the question though, (sorry if I'm being dense):

Metaregional adventures used to be posted on WoTC's website. They don't appear to be there for either region. Where do I get them? Will the triad contact email them to me, or do they just provide the passwords as they have in the past and I need to download the actual adventure from somewhere else. Do I just need to be patient for WotC to update their website?

Also, who is the shield land's contact for the triad?

On your actual question, you should contact the POC to get regional/metaregional adventures. You have to contact the POC for the passwords anyway, so it's no extra step to get the modules from them. I do not know who that is, but it should be in the LGCS. Failing that, there'll be a yahoo group for the region - people on that list should be able to help.

In respect to the question you didn't ask about online play, your situation does not sound as if you will be able to play (meta)regionals with your existing group.

1) the GM and more than half of the players must be physically in the same place, in the (meta)region of the adventure. You can only run a (meta)region outside the (meta)region at an Open Fiesta. That is the only exception. If you have four players, only one can be not physically present. If you have five or six players, two can be not physically present.

2) Anyone not physically present must have an address within the (meta)region as their registered address in the RPGA database.

So if you do not change your address, you will still not be able to run Sheldomar adventures, and you will only be able to play them if someone physically within the (meta)region is running them for some local physically present people.

That sounds horribly convoluted, but it is the way the rules work, I'm afraid.

When you order adventures for regionals and metaregionals, you will follow the ordering process as normal. After ordering the adventures, you will get an event code. Contact the triad with this event code (or, if you want to clutter Paul's inbox like I do, just forward the email to him), and they will send you .pdf files of the modules you want to run.

The Shield Lands POC is Paul Kulbitski. With his former shieldlands.net POC email shut down, I only know his personal email address. There may be another address at which he can be contacted for official triad-ly duties, but I don't know it. I'll ask him and PM you with the results.

Pedr did a pretty job running it down, but specifically for your case:

I live in Connecticut (Sheldomar Valley) and will be moving to Minnesota in a few months (Iuz 's Border States).

You can never run SHE mods from MN. You can run IUZ mods from MN, but only for players who are either in IUZ, or who are temporarily away from IUZ, but are registered in IUZ.

If you are permanently moving to MN (changing your registered address), you can then run IUZ mods from MN for the two guys who are relocating with you, but your buddies back in NJ can't play them unless they come visit. You cannot run SHE mods from MN under any circumstance.

If you are temporarily moving to MN (keeping your registered address), you cannot run SHE mods from MN. In theory, you can't order IUZ mods in this case either. You could still play SHE mods if run by someone back home or elsewhere in SHE online; the SHE DM and 51+% of the players have to be in the same physical location in SHE.

Lunarfish, thanks very much! :) :) :)

Thanks to everyone for the clarifications on the rules. It's been a while since I looked at them.

Ugh.... It looks as though you are right about there needing to be more than 50%, not just 50%. That's a bummer, but if I can find someone in Minnesota to join us, we'd have enough people to allow the two of them to play.

As far as the players in Jersey teleconferencing in MN regionals, could they just make a new character with the shield lands as their home (or have an existing character move to the shield lands if they wanted)? I found this in the rules:

The default home region for your PC is determined by
where you live (see the table below). You may choose a
different home region for a PC, other than a Core region,
but the PC will suffer out-of-region penalties when you use
it in the game region assigned to where you live.

So does the player or the character need to have the address of the region/metaregion?

If it can't be done, I'll certainly accept that, but if I can find a reasonable and legal way to do it, I'd like to.:)

Sorry, but no. You have to read and re-read the wording of the rules clearly. They mean precisely what they say.

The home region of a character has no bearing on what modules it can play (and note that you can definitely play Cores, Core Specials and Adapted modules online). The only way in which people who live in Jersey can play MN regionals is to be in MN, sitting in the same room as someone running the adventure.

Thanks for the clarification. I think you're 100% right.

And your point is also helpful about cores and such...no need to stop playing...

I was looking forward to giving all my players the feel of a very different region, but cest la vie. Guess I can still do that if they want to spend spring break in Minnesota next year.

Thank you all for your help. :D
