| LGMoses01-18-07, 01:27 AM | I recently had a player design a swashbuckler Jack Sparrow rip. What other characters out of popular culture have u seen ripped off. Go. |
| Morgen01-18-07, 02:12 AM | I know a few people who litterally play characters from different Sci-Fi Television series. Very well, and they're fun and awesome to play with too. I wish people worked so hard on thier original characters to make them so much fun to play! :-D |
| RanielK01-18-07, 04:26 AM | My current character's personality and background are meant to be modeled after the Doctor. He's alien (aasimar from the Planes should be alieny enough), not big on solving things with anything more than his wits and a few simple gadgets (still no sonic screwdriver though) and is of the opinion he is more intelligent and "dialed in" to what is going on in the Multiverse. Only problem is, while he is intelligent (12 Int) and educated (the Well Read feat with SP's spent on a number of Knowledge skills), he's not the Doctor intelligent (INT in the high 20's or 30's?). He is however very charismatic and good at talking his way out of situations (yea for Bluff as a class skill for Sorcerers!). Too bad Polyglot is an Epic feat. No speaking every language for me :( |
| gomeztoo01-18-07, 08:42 AM | The Doctor doesn't work so well within LG. Most Pcs want to bash things, not bluff the creature in revealing the one means to destroy them... As to stats, he neeld have high mental stats (Int/Wis), average Cha (though David Tennant is quite jummy), pretty good Con (you shoudl after 10 regenerations). Basically a rogue/bard, maybe beguiler. My own pop-culture rip off? Clover, my shopping-crazy, fashion aware, boy-hunting, blond-haired, and too pretty to live bard... Gomez |
| RedKnightofKet01-18-07, 09:43 AM | A buddy of mine has made an extreme wrestler, by the name of Heyman (for Paul Heyman, from ECW). He always goes for the grapple, and he likes to throw the baddies THROUGH a table when the opportunity comes. At 6th level, he picked up Leadership, so he got himself a "manager" I've been trying to get some people to join me in making up the "A Team", but no such luck... |
| Bogjob01-18-07, 09:45 AM | I recently had a player design a swashbuckler Jack Sparrow rip. What other characters out of popular culture have u seen ripped off. Go. In our LG campaign one of the guys we game with has had a rogue for about 4 years and Jack Sparrow is a rip off of him :) |
| LGMoses01-18-07, 10:09 AM | In our LG campaign one of the guys we game with has had a rogue for about 4 years and Jack Sparrow is a rip off of him :) that sounds pretty funny |
| LachlarlanIII01-18-07, 10:12 AM | I've never actually seen any pop-culture rips being played by people in this area, but I've always wanted to play one. Basically, Half-Orc Sorc. 14+ Cha, 6 Int. Has Raven familiar named George. Dah, which way did he go George. I want to hug him, and pet him, and call him my own! (aka, the Loveable Moron) He's modeled after the Loony Tunes Abominable Snowman. |
| darrell_uk01-18-07, 10:24 AM | Which is, in turn, based on Lenny from Steinbeck's (sp?) Of Mice and Men. |
| Bob_the_Theurge01-18-07, 10:39 AM | There's a mod somewhere where you meet a singing group called "Mithral Balloon." They have a half-orc drummer. That was about as crazy as it gets. |
| kenobi6501-18-07, 11:12 AM | A friend of mine has a character in Living Arcanis, a high-charisma noble/sorcerer, a petite blonde with a bubbly (if slightly annoying) personality named Galinda. She's a direct lift of the Galinda/Glinda character from the book and musical "Wicked", but I'm not sure that a lot of folks are familiar with it. Myself, I will often use a character from a book or movie as the starting point for a PC, but then modify it from there. My LG primary, a paladin of Heironeous, is very loosely based on "Van Helsing." |
| bhale18701-18-07, 11:29 AM | I've been thinking of making a 'Groo' in the form of a half-orc barbarian. I think he'd be a great time in roleplaying the insanely strong raging idiot with zero couth and a complete lack of any awareness of his surroundings until it is time to fight. |
| gomeztoo01-18-07, 11:31 AM | My friends and I are still debating whether it will be with it freaking out DMs by turning up with a party named the order of the Stick... |
| RanielK01-18-07, 11:40 AM | My friends and I are still debating whether it will be with it freaking out DMs by turning up with a party named the order of the Stick... As long as you stay away from the level/level/level gag, any DM should only groan loudly on getting it instead of running screaming in agony from the pain inflicted by that pun. Though anyone who imitates Elan too closely would need to be beaten with a stick. :gah: |
| kenobi6501-18-07, 11:55 AM | My friends and I are still debating whether it will be with it freaking out DMs by turning up with a party named the order of the Stick... I play an ambiguously-gendered gray elf warmage. Can I join? :D |
| RanielK01-18-07, 11:57 AM | The Doctor doesn't work so well within LG. Gomez I'm going more for the "I know something you don't know" kind of guy, vice the "Oh, oh, that is brilliant. What a plan! But did you stop to think, if I did *this* then it all falls apart. I win!" Of course, the Ninth Doctor's defeat of the Slitheen from inside a locked room was sheer brilliance! He's more fun to play in investigative mods (not that he's got all the skills to be up on a real investigator character). This mostly because I come up with solutions from out in left field and this character would let me rp that. COR5-03 Atonement is a good example. Fortunately, the character I played in that was highly intelligent (Gray Elf wizzy) and crazy (so good for rp the off the wall solutions). To give you an idea of what I mean by "out in left field solutions." In a home game, I convinced a hill giant into becoming the protector for a small village that had recently lost their hometown adventuring group to drow. All role playing, no roll playing. I had a sudden stroke of genius (or just stroke according to the rest of the party) when the druid mentioned seeing a hill giant in the forest nearby and took off. About five steps from the party, one of the members put two and two togather and tried to bull rush/grapple/pin me to stop this "rash action." The rest of the part looked at him like he was crazy until they all figured it out. Then they helped him. I won the grapple and just walked away oblivious, telling them I'd be right back. My arguement to the giant? It's almost winter. The local town could feed you during the lean times and keep you comfy. You fight off all other monsters (giants, tuskers, drow) so none of them get "your rightful food/comfort." He went for it and so did the town. Everybody was happy. :w00t: :ayyyy!: |
| rockondon01-18-07, 12:26 PM | I recently played a mod where one of the NPCs was named Lee Jenkins :D (for those not in the know) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkCNJRfSZBU) |
| LachlarlanIII01-18-07, 12:31 PM | I recently played a mod where one of the NPCs was named Lee Jenkins :D (for those not in the know) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkCNJRfSZBU) Was he a paladin? |
| bhale18701-18-07, 12:42 PM | Disregard........ |
| amnuxoll01-18-07, 02:21 PM | We have a hexblade named Jack Burton in our region whose horse is named The Porkchop Express. |
| Jay Ibero01-18-07, 03:05 PM | A buddy of mine has made an extreme wrestler, by the name of Heyman (for Paul Heyman, from ECW). He always goes for the grapple, and he likes to throw the baddies THROUGH a table when the opportunity comes. At 6th level, he picked up Leadership, so he got himself a "manager" I've been trying to get some people to join me in making up the "A Team", but no such luck... I'd love to help you build an A Team...but what would the classes be? Hannibal might be a Marshal, and Face might be a Bard, but then their jobs overlap somewhat...B.A. would Obviously be a fighter/barbarian with high intimidate...but what the heck would Murdock be? I don't think there's a class for random crazy pilot...In any event Murdock would definately have the lowest wisdom possible. Hannibal would definately need the Leadership feat too... |
| kenobi6501-18-07, 03:08 PM | We have a hexblade named Jack Burton in our region whose horse is named The Porkchop Express. You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this? Ol' Jack always says, "what the hell..." |
| solbergb01-18-07, 03:35 PM | My wife figured out how to roleplay a 6 int 8 wisdom 6 cha (and dropping with each curse) dwarf stonelord by watching an Anime character. I forget the name of the show, but she wasn't precisely dumb or ugly or anything...just totally spaced out and living in her own little world, which means she would say things that would just freak out her friends. that was the seed of Saka's personality, and also where the kind of singsong voice she uses came from. Saka really only cares about rocks, so while she may actually be more intelligent than she appears, and is probably very socially desirable to other rocks (they WILL eventually talk to her after all) she's got problems interacting with normal people. It is a rare game with her that Saka doesn't say something completely strange, based on her own warped view of the world and lack of comprehension that anyone else would find it strange. My character has some seeds from the same anime - one character had a little brother who could just terrify people with very understated intimidation and bluff. He didn't actually turn out very much like that character, but he's got a trick or two that was inspired by how the kids in the Anime reacted to that boy. |
| solbergb01-18-07, 03:37 PM | .. |
| solbergb01-18-07, 03:38 PM | but what the heck would Murdock be? I don't think there's a class for random crazy pilot...In any event Murdock would definately have the lowest wisdom possible. . Sure there is. They're cavalry. Halfling with dire bat animal companion covers most bases. Fighter/druid or ranger or something. Probably ranger, due to desire for low wisdom. |
| chesspiece01-18-07, 03:45 PM | but what the heck would Murdock be? I don't think there's a class for random crazy pilot...In any event Murdock would definately have the lowest wisdom possible. Arcane / Wildmage. Pick up mobility spells (levitate, fly, teleport). Try to get access to the Slide & Transposition spells. IIRC, he was pretty handy with firearms & demolitions (boom spells?) too. Argue with B.A. before casting mobility spells on him. :) Alienist might be another option, but I don't remember Murdock having "minions" unless they were imaginary... |
| Britt01-18-07, 03:49 PM | "I ain't gettin' on no dragon, fool!" "Here, BA, drink this nice tall mug of ale." |
| gomeztoo01-18-07, 03:58 PM | Though anyone who imitates Elan too closely would need to be beaten with a stick. :gah: Yeah, but he's gonna get Haley... Anyway, I'd be going either for V or the Belkster... |
| gomeztoo01-18-07, 03:58 PM | I play an ambiguously-gendered gray elf warmage. Can I join? :D Is your hair purple? |
| LGMoses01-18-07, 04:00 PM | Thog is the greatest barb/fighter ever. |
| gomeztoo01-18-07, 04:13 PM | He also makes a good leprechaun. |
| jstorrie01-18-07, 04:23 PM | Green Star Adept Justiciar = Robocop. |
| kenobi6501-18-07, 04:42 PM | Is your hair purple? It can be. |

| RedKnightofKet01-18-07, 06:22 PM | I figure that they'd each need some rogue levels.. they ARE rogues, after all... but for Murdock, I like the idea of the Dire Bat flying druid, but I'd try to get into Alienist too - nothing says out of this world like Alienist ;) I'd love to help you build an A Team...but what would the classes be? Hannibal might be a Marshal, and Face might be a Bard, but then their jobs overlap somewhat...B.A. would Obviously be a fighter/barbarian with high intimidate...but what the heck would Murdock be? | NiTessine01-18-07, 07:18 PM | I recently played a mod where one of the NPCs was named Lee Jenkins :D (for those not in the know) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkCNJRfSZBU) I have a barbarian character named Leeroy Darmen... With the Celestial Scion feat. :embarrass I only use him for intro modules, though, for the time being. Also, I once played a Sunndi regional table with a Suel bard named Britni Spear. The player used a Blood Bowl cheerleader miniature for her. |
| _m_01-18-07, 07:34 PM | Thog is the greatest barb/fighter ever. we actually have a half orc barbarian named thogg in our area. |
| clannagh01-18-07, 08:25 PM | we actually have a half orc barbarian named thogg in our area. you almost built river kinda by accident |
| _m_01-18-07, 08:33 PM | you almost built river kinda by accident yeah, she's one of my favourite characters. she still exists actually. |
| RanielK01-19-07, 03:59 PM | After watching waaaay tooo many episodes back to back, I really want to make a Samuri Jack knock off. I figure Monk/Fighter, Monk/Paladin or even worse Monk/Fighter/Paladin. Running around with no armor, and beating down baddies with fists, staff, stuff on hand. Must have Exotic Weapon Prof Bastard Sword with a Masterwork Bastard Sword (essentially what a katana is) to run around with his "magic sword." Not too original, but just fun. :plotting: :evillaugh :monk: |
| cycloptic_squirrel01-20-07, 12:01 AM | Only a few mods under our belts, but a friend and I have a pair called Kay and Quiet Chuck. Very cliché, but a heck of a lot of fun. |
| Frumpkis01-21-07, 03:47 AM | I have a half-orc frontliner PC, Hafez, with 8 Intelligence (which isn't actually all that bad, for a half-orc), whose home region is the Sultanate of Zeif. His dream is to someday get a respectable job working for the Sultan in some government administration post. However, he realizes that he probably doesn't have the brain smarts to land such a job. But wait! Hafez has heard of this great wizard (Mord-ken, or something like that....Hafez tends to have trouble with multi-syllabic words) who's been known to appear in the 'Grey City', and can do all sorts of powerful magic. So Hafez is on a great quest to go "off to see the wizard, to ask him for a brain!" Of course, just like a certain character from a certain book/movie, Hafez will discover over time that he's actually reasonably intelligent already (at least as far as half-orcs go....hence the 8 Int), and doesn't need any magical enhancement of his intellect. |
| Southernskies01-22-07, 07:38 AM | The local group has two characters called Jake and Elroy on a mission from the gods... |
| paigeoliver01-22-07, 08:26 AM | John Plunk in Verbobonc has been playing "Groo" for a few years now. He is a half-orc barbarian and he is even named Groo. "Now Groo does what Groo does best." In the last module I played with Groo he power attacked the plot device kobolds the second they appeared and then cleaved into the second one. They never even got a chance to speak. I've been thinking of making a 'Groo' in the form of a half-orc barbarian. | Bob_the_Theurge01-22-07, 02:37 PM | We've got a female elven monk who keeps getting grappled by tentacled beings for some reason... |
| mlund01-23-07, 07:06 PM | I've got a LG Favored Soul of Tsolandril whose Spiked Chain happens to be wielded as a chain whip with a morning star head at the end. It'll eventually get upgraded to Flaming. I may need to get into Fighter at some point for proficiency with Battle Axes and pick up Throw Anything just to make Simon Richter a little more authentic. Holy Water and Daggers aren't enough. - Marty Lund |
| KarmaInferno01-23-07, 07:13 PM | Back in LC I played a character that had an alternate name of "Captain Thunder". Ran around beating foes silly with nothing but his gloved fists most of the time, and yes, he did have a shield he could throw and have it return. He took the "thunder" riff due to having a few lightning-based abilities from various sources. A few other players I knew ran around as superheroes as well. When we got a whole table together, well, all I have to say is I apologize to the DMs again, you were all good sports about it. If a little baffled and disturbed. -karma |

Imagine the confussion until someone realized Solomon Kane, Arsene Lupin, Sir Percy Blakeney, Lord Peter Wimsey, et. al. are meant to be family! Only someone with a love of pulp fiction and Philip Jose Farmer would ever really get it. |
| clannagh01-24-07, 05:18 PM | i might consider a half orc bard based on ozzie osborne |
| Alpha_Nerd01-25-07, 09:58 PM | I think I have a pretty good thing going for my new character. His name is Eligh (pronounced E-lie) Fanning. He's a Bard/Fighter/Warchanter/Dragon Disciple that worships Bahamut. Now, his older brother Payten Fanning and his father Archee Fanning were both Paladins of Bahamut. Thus, Eligh was pushed into being a Paladin from birth. He tried really hard, but Eligh was different. He was mischevious, and unable to follow the code of a paladin. He was very Pious, praying alongside his Brother and Father, but had to find some other way of expressing his dragon blood. This caused Payten to be the favorite son, and Eligh soon developed an inferiority complex. So, he set off to become a famous adventurer to impress his father. Hint: Eli and Peyton Manning |
| kenobi6501-26-07, 05:52 PM | I think I have a pretty good thing going for my new character. His name is Eligh (pronounced E-lie) Fanning. Does he hang around with Giants in Keoland? ;) |
| gbuchold01-26-07, 06:37 PM | I have a red-haired Wood Elf Ranger working toward Wild Plains Outrider who will, by the end of his build, have Favored Enemy (Giant), have the feat Giantsbane (DC 10 to climb onto a Huge or larger creature), and have absurculous Climb check bonuses. If you don't already have the 'slaying theme' playing in your head, you need to go out and play Shadow of the Colossus. |
| Loremistress02-21-07, 03:10 PM | My first character in LG was a Baklunish bard named Scherazade. I had such a terrible experience in my first LG mod I decided to give up on LG, but a friend talked me into giving it one more chance. But since I didn't really care at that point, I decided to create a shtick character and thus Qi Lo Ni, practitioner of the ancient tradition of Tae Kwon Leap, was born. Her favourite attack form is, of course, Boot to the Head. Funny though, for a basically "throwaway" character she's become one of my favourites to play. Lisa aka Qi Lo Ni, Monk 8/Drunken Master 2 |
| Bosstone02-21-07, 03:37 PM | My current plan for a Ranger/Fighter quarterstaffer is based off Marcus Cole of Babylon 5. Right down to studying with the elves. :D I played in a local mod a couple weeks ago with a Warmage who was, quite literally, named "Megaman". The character tent had a picture of the Capcom character and everything. Frequently after casting an attack spell, the player would raise his arm up and make "pew pew" noises to demonstrate. I make no judgment, only  |

A ripoff is one thing, but that's a straight-up transplant of a robot character into a D&D game. Non-Eberron, even. Our GM rolled with it, though, and even provided a blue plastic mini for him to use. |

| ZX67002-21-07, 04:05 PM | We have a hexblade named Jack Burton in our region whose horse is named The Porkchop Express. That's awesome! The better quote was the other one, though: "You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?" "Who?!?" "Jack Burton....ME!" And up to two pages and no one's mentioned a Drizzt ripoff. Wow! In my region, I haven't really seen too many rips of chars from pop culture. There's been some similar names, but nothing like the original. |

Lisa aka Qi Lo Ni, Monk 8/Drunken Master 2 Please tell me that you've taken the feats Roundabout Kick and Flying Kick. And stunning fist. She must have stunning fist. As for me? I'm playing a Rogue/Wizard (Originally going for arcane trickster, now going for Spellwarp Sniper/AT.) who has seriously considered taking the "Ranged Pin" feat just so he can do this: http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_584.php I only have doubts about how often I'll be able to use the feat. And only so many extra feats in the build. (I'll be going for "Ranged Recall") But, I didn't name the character Abel. I have another character who is often introduced as "A pale white suel with pale white hair". If he ever gets/rides a horse in a mod, he'll complian that he always gets a pale white horse and odd looks. |

| Akhamshyy02-22-07, 12:51 AM | If it weren't for the expensive adamanine weapon I already have, I'd retrain to focus on greatsword and have my dervish/fighter emulate a certain anime/game character who can make standing leaps of amazing height while fighting with his over-sized blade. |
| nobodez02-22-07, 01:38 AM | Well, I don't play him, but here in the County of Urnst there's actually a character (Mank 13, Tattooed Monk 1) that's named Ed Gruberman. Fun guy to play with, really deadly. |
| ithardin02-22-07, 10:12 AM | I've been thinking of making a 'Groo' in the form of a half-orc barbarian. I think he'd be a great time in roleplaying the insanely strong raging idiot with zero couth and a complete lack of any awareness of his surroundings until it is time to fight. Of course I love to remind that player (and you!) that Groo is a human :) Ian |
| Loremistress02-22-07, 02:18 PM | Please tell me that you've taken the feats Roundabout Kick and Flying Kick. And stunning fist. She must have stunning fist. I have stunning fist, but not the other two - time to look at the retraining rules, I think :D |
| Loremistress02-22-07, 02:22 PM | Well, I don't play him, but here in the County of Urnst there's actually a character (Mank 13, Tattooed Monk 1) that's named Ed Gruberman. Fun guy to play with, really deadly. Hmmmm. Maybe time for a roadtrip (unfortunately very unlikely, since CoU is quite a bit west of me...). |
| Hariman02-24-07, 12:20 AM | I forgot that there's a guy in my area that plays a monk named: Bruce Lee. I'd have chosen Jake Long myself. |
| Anguus02-24-07, 06:41 PM | My wife and I are playing a paired set of characters she has a sorceress named Ariel and I have a barbarian named Thundarr , we are currently seeking an Ookla though :) |
| Loignar02-24-07, 07:23 PM | My wife and I are playing a paired set of characters she has a sorceress named Ariel and I have a barbarian named Thundarr , we are currently seeking an Ookla though :) Too bad Sasquatch is not an option on the sorceress familiar list. |
| MeepoTheMighty02-26-07, 08:01 PM | I've played with a flamboyant, spikes-and-buckles sorcerer named Hennet. |
| Vorlonkosh02-26-07, 08:11 PM | You really need a collapsible quarterstaff, that you can open and close repeatedly and drive the other PCs nuts with. SHICK! SHUCK! SHICK! SHUCK! :) GIven that its actual function is, in fact, a collapsible quarterstaff, this idea actually seems like more of a ripoff of the DenBok Minbari Fighting Pike from Babylon 5...... it really DOES go shick-shuck shick-shuck... and as such is intentionally used to bug the crap out of one character in an episode....LMAO :w00t: :D |

| Vorlonkosh02-27-07, 10:43 AM | Oh cool.. Glad to know someone else saw the endless humor in that. :D I though you were somehow talking about a Jedi repeatedly turning on his lightsaber and playing with it... OMG that is NOT supposed to be an adult joke, I promise! :censored: :hides: |
| LachlarlanIII02-27-07, 10:52 AM | I'd have chosen Jake Long myself. Now I have an inkling to build a monk/dragon disciple... |
| Hariman02-27-07, 10:53 PM | Now I have an inkling to build a monk/dragon disciple... Just remember, unarmed strikes are considered light weapons. So no power attacking dragon disciple monks allowed. Barbarian/Dragon Disciple makes more sense. Sure makes low strength high dex weapon finesse monks make sense. Waitaminute. Wrong character! I thought jake long was cool! I forgot he was that american dragon... person. I take it back. I'd choose Rock Lee instead of Jake Long any day. If osteomancer (dragon magazine) were allowed, I'd choose Kimimalo. |
| Arvagor02-27-07, 11:56 PM | Just remember, unarmed strikes are considered light weapons. So no power attacking dragon disciple monks allowed. Barbarian/Dragon Disciple makes more sense.Re-read the Power Attack feat -- unarmed strikes are a specific exception to the "no power-attacking with light weapons" rule. |
| Hariman02-28-07, 01:09 AM | Re-read the Power Attack feat -- unarmed strikes are a specific exception to the "no power-attacking with light weapons" rule. Barbarian/monk/dragon disciple then. What? It's doable. Although I recommend Fighter, Hexblade, or Paladin/Sorcerer or Bard. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned a smartarse gnome named Issun with a white riding dog named Ammy. |

| Timlagor02-28-07, 01:25 PM | I really dislike running into these things. |
| NotMousse02-28-07, 01:51 PM | i might consider a half orc bard based on ozzie osborne Well if you're gonna go based on Ozzie then I have to switch to being a drummer, or go Scott and get bagpipes. |
| Hariman02-28-07, 10:38 PM | Nolzur's Marvelous Pigments? Plus a Necklace of Fireballs. |
| Jedi_Alec_Swann03-01-07, 09:50 PM | We have a hexblade named Jack Burton in our region whose horse is named The Porkchop Express. I was at a Table of Jack Burton during Bashcon this past weekend. Jack Burton only has Power Attack ON or Power Attack OFF. I am going to make a Domain of Greyhawk wizard named Egg Shen for the Ruins of Greyhawk. My other Rip off is a Monk Occult Slayer based on Buffy. |
| clannagh03-05-07, 02:03 AM | Well if you're gonna go based on Ozzie then I have to switch to being a drummer, or go Scott and get bagpipes. a half orc rendition of "long way to the top" on bagpipes is not a bad thing |
| Jon_the_Cynic03-14-07, 04:15 PM | I'm sure this has been done before, but I have a character (level 5 atm) that is yet another reference to a dumb Bugs Bunny character: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Baba_Bunny Half-Orc BDF/Occult Slayer named Hassan. Stats: 20/12/15/6/8/6 :D Wields (and focuses in) a Falchion, and each attack roll is accompanied by "Hassan chop!" For home games I have a wav file from the cartoon on the DM's laptop. My favorite roleplaying moment was when a charismatic aristocrat type NPC needing bodyguards asked my party what our names and specialties were. After everyone else went, I replied simply "Me Hassan. Hassan specialize in chopping." |
| ithardin03-15-07, 01:08 PM | I am looking forward to seeing everyone's LG take on the Spartans from "300." I know I have been working on my "spartan" build, though I don't expect him to live very long:D |
| kenobi6503-15-07, 01:19 PM | I am looking forward to seeing everyone's LG take on the Spartans from "300." Go over to the Living Arcanis "LA-Talk" list...they're already going nuts over it... |
| LGMoses03-15-07, 03:30 PM | o yeah, there is going to be a LOT of Spartan ripoffs. |
| ithardin03-15-07, 05:01 PM | The first "300" rip-off who: 1. is a 1/2 orc; OR 2. has a barbarian level is going to get kicked square in the butt by yours truly:D |
| LachlarlanIII03-15-07, 06:22 PM | The first "300" rip-off who: 1. is a 1/2 orc; OR 2. has a barbarian level is going to get kicked square in the butt by yours truly:D Indeed. Spartans are very lawful. They allowed their newborns to be taken, and if found unworthy, to be left in the woods to die without so much as a word because it was for the greater good of the country. |

Lawful Human Fighter 15 FTW! With all the combat focus feats! Or maybe the Tactical Soldier PrC... |
| RanielK03-17-07, 04:52 AM | Lawful Human Fighter 15 FTW! With all the combat focus feats! Or maybe the Tactical Soldier PrC... Yes, but you can't forget the Phalanx Fighting feat. You'ld also need a short sword (xiphos), longspear (doru), and either a tower shield ("come back with it or on it, big guy!") or heavy shield (aspis). Their favored tactic is formation fighting with spear and shield, charging into the enemy and hoping to overrun/bullrush/flank them. First side to break looses, especially considering most generals led from the front and so would fall when the front rank collapsed. Since your probably going out on your own, you'll need Leadership. After all, your probably the leader of your barracks, which is why you're able to go off on your own. Oh, and remember both the graphic novel and the movie have their guys running around in no armor (leather 'speedos' for the movie to avoid a big ole NC-17, else nothing but your weapon harness, backpack and shield). Though, in truth, Spartan hoplites wore some form of medium armor. |
| LGMoses03-17-07, 08:04 PM | someone should make a bard drummer copy of Animal from sesame street |
| Shieldhart9103-20-07, 02:27 AM | Jack Burton. Good times, haha. |
| ithardin03-20-07, 01:02 PM | We joked about making a female human bard named "Fergie" whose bardic music would be her "spell-singing" RB style. Think Elan from Order of the Stick, but spelling :D *to the beat of "Fergalicious"* "I, to the N, to the S-P-I-R-E to the C, to the O, to the U-R-A-G-E!" |
| solbergb03-20-07, 01:07 PM | I'm thinking of doing Lt Armstrong from Full Metal Alchemist as a sorcerer or maybe GISH Suel. He would just be a fun character to play - he's moderately competent but with personality flaws and ah er, distinctive approach to magic, probably involving a lot of transmutation spells and physical enhancement spells. The trick is giving enough breadth to the character to contribute without losing the flavor. |
| AOSOL03-22-07, 12:09 PM | There's a mod somewhere where you meet a singing group called "Mithral Balloon." They have a half-orc drummer. That was about as crazy as it gets. I remember that! i think it was a year 3 Principality of Ulek game. I tried to steal the drums. :D |
| LachlarlanIII03-22-07, 05:04 PM | I think I may name my gnome fighter Fraggle Rockheim. |
| Joethesmita03-27-07, 08:02 PM | Shakafataw, the Asherati Sand Pirate....... |
| Hariman03-27-07, 10:49 PM | One of the regulars in my group has an Elf Paladin Archer named: Orlando Bloom. I have a Hexblade Archer named Talos, but I just liked the name. I didn't realize that it was so Mythical. |
| clannagh03-27-07, 10:54 PM | someone should make a bard drummer copy of Animal from sesame street Animal seems to have been roughly modelled on Keith Moon the drummer from the Who ... famous for driving Rolls Royces into swimming pool's and demolishing hotel rooms. |
| LachlarlanIII03-28-07, 09:48 AM | someone should make a bard drummer copy of Animal from sesame street Or someone could make a bard lute/mandolin player named El Kabong. |
