Mount Size? [Archive] - Wizards Community

I thought that a character could only ride a mount that was one size larger than himself, but I can't find any official word.

11-02-04, 10:09 PM I think the only limitations you have to getting a mount are its carrying capacity, your ability to control it, and its general availability in the LG campaign. The MM gives some guidance about non-standard mounts and how hard it is to train them in the animals' write-ups.

If I'm not mistaken, if the mount isn't listed in the PHB then you need documentation. I happen to know of one player with a Velociraptor mount and another with a Giant Eagle.
