| Necrochaos04-16-07, 06:41 PM | My cleric is not so good. I was going Lord of Tides, but I haven't seen access and I don't think it's a great prestiage class anyway. I'm level 5 and should be 6 soon. I'm getting ready to play Red Hand of Doom. Anywho, here are my stats: Dwarf (Bright Sands) Deity Geshati Domains Travel and Thirst Str 12, Dex 12 Con 16, Int 12, Wis 19, Cha 6 Feats are Priest of the Waste and Scorpions Resolve At 6, I was going to take Augment Healing and retraining Scorpions Resolve to Maximize Spell. I'd like to focus on spellcasting. I also thought maybe I'd take divine oracle. If I did that, I'd retrain SR to SF Religion. This would boost my will save, give me another domain, trap sense, uncanny dodge and keep my spellcasting up. Or do I stay straight cleric and work myself towards Hierophant? I'm never going to be a turner. I'd like to be a decent healer and be able to cast some great spells. Any help would be awesome |

You have the Travel domain which is my first choice for any cleric who wants to focus on spellcasting. If you can pick up the Extra Turning feat and a Cloak of Charisma, Domain Spontaneity (Travel) is an amazing feat that will probably do more for you than Maximize Spell. Divine Oracle is an excellent prestige class, but with your reflex saves, how often will you be able to make use of evasion? You should think about Combat Medic if you want to improve your healing, although that is a NONC class so you'll need AR access. Also, there is nothing wrong with going straight cleric. Finally, I want to say that while your build may not be optimized, its definitely better than "not so good." Any cleric with full spellcasting progression and the Travel domain is all right in my book. |

If you retrain I would suggest Enpower instead of Maximize because enpower is only 2 slots higher instead of the 3 slots higher of the max, and in many cases an empowered spell will do as much or more then a Max'd spell. Domain spont is also nice since you can cast Fly now, and D-Door soon enough. Of course if you do pick a PrC that will likely have a big impact on your feat choices. |

I'd still try to focus on buffing and healing (Augment Healing is nice for this), but having one or two offensive spells with high DC's is fine too -- unfortunately there's not a whole lot of options until 9th level caster...normally. Thirst Domain picks up the slack there -- you should be casting Dessicate and Parching Touch alot. Tormenting Thirst is pretty interesting too. |

With your Wisdom I would also pick up the Periapt (+2 Wis buff item) and prepare an offensive spell or two. Blindness comes to mind. |
