| Casebier03-25-05, 12:49 PM | I was thinking about the Marshal class when I remembered their level 4 ability, Grand Move Action(Ex). It grants his allies an extra move action, which they take immediately, in order by initiative. Then I read about Flat-Footed under Initiative in the Combat section of the PHB. It says: "At the start of battle, before you have had a chance to act (specifically, before your first regular turn in the initiative order), you are flat-footed. You can't use your Dexterity bonus to AC while flat-footed." Q: So what happens if the Marshal goes first in battle, and uses the Grant Move Action ability? As it reads now, those allies within 30 ft get to take a move action, but they are still flat-footed (since they haven't had their first regular turn yet). Since they are still flat-footed, they are denied their Dex bonus, even though they are moving about. If they provoke an AoO from a rogue with Combat Reflexes, the rogue would get to deal sneak attack damage. Concern Player AND Judge, John Rogers, Jr. |
