does anyone know if there are any plans for a new "living greyhawk gazateer"? i recently started playing living greyhawk and am planning on buying the gazateer but it's been out for a while and i'm afraid it'll soon be outdated. like when i bought the three 3rd edition core rulebooks and found out the next month that 3.5 was to come out. which i also bought. anyway, if there is a new version due out soon i would like to know so i don't have to waste money on the old one.

I know what you mean, I spent alot of time putting together my third edition book collection, so the arival of 3.5 in the form of entire new rulebooks certainly irked me. I actually just purchased the Gazatteer and though an update in the greyhawk world would be welcome and I really would not like to pay another 50$ for a new one.

You mean you actually payed 50$ for the Gazetteer :mymy: ? Around here it's always been something like 25e (30$) and from Amazon you can get it for 18$....

WotC repeatedly stated recently that NO accessory for WoG was scheduled. Dungeon Mag. will be the only "official" source of hawkness for quite some time yet (thanks Erik Mona!)

Moreover, the GH Gazetteer doesn't really contain any info tied to 3.0 or 3.5 but rather to 3.X. When you say Prince Somesuch is Fighter 16, the edition doesn't matter if that's the only info available.

So, go ahead. No new edition for now.

That said, IF you're using E-Tool and don't want to blow too much money, you should be aware CMP has released a GH Gazetteer toolset for less than 5$ that contains the whole text of the original accessory (minus the maps and the pics). So that option would certainly be cheaper.

The LGG is worth reading, but not very usefull. I have been trying to gather background for writing new LG mods and home adventures, but find the info is interesting, but not very helpful. The only useful item for me was the map and just some basic stats on town sizes. There are specific details on the LG gods and deities, so check out Amazon or ebay and get a nice used copy with the maps of course for 10 bucks and enjoy!

I have found lots of bits and pieces of LG info on Keoland which is my region, but there are loads of stories and plots in the mods that I can't get which would help me fill in the gaps. Since there are a few years of mods retired and soon to be retired, I would also hope that WotC released them or published them as a history for the regions.

In the case of Keoland at least, the LGG is just a starting point. the Keoland article in LGJ expanded greatly on the material. That article can be found here as well: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=lg/articles/20030515keoland

There's also the Keoland Triad website, http://keoland.living-greyhawk.com/ that keeps records of most of the goings on, and their discussion list, which can be found on the website, where you can collaborate with most of the active Keolanders on development.
