I am going to more than likely be playing COR6-02: Rallying Point for the Bright Sands this weekend. I have already played COR6-13 Tears for Bright Sands and now have the disfavor of a major character in the ARC (hey you have to play what you can at a midnight madness). How do we deal with these disfavors from a mod that sort of hasnt even happened yet ?

You already answered the question. It's does not happent yet.

So just don't tell the others what will happen on the next part. And enjoy the impression of deja vu.

I have no knowledge of Cor6-13, however, from what I know of Rallying Point it hould be able to be played with just about any disfavor. Just realize that there are choices to be made and pairing with PCs opposed to your ideas can get tense.

Don't most of those mods have a phase where the DM checks for all the AR disfavors and such. Presumably, the DM won't be checking for it. They were designed to run in a specific order so it is bascially going to be up to you as to whether you want to bring it up.

I know that Britt has said that even with the disfavour of Karystine, a PC can still play the rest of the series. I don't know who your disfavor is for (nor do I recall who you can get disfavors for in that mod), but I imagine that you can still play regardless.

Unfortunately, having both played and run Tears, I would think that it is a BIG problem. I'm not official, but I would say that it prevents you from playing for a certain side.

But having said that, Go ahead and play Rallying Point. Just remember what limitations you have and tell the DM that. I have run and played that one and I would say it poses no issue.

Sounds like I may have to subdue the level 2 centaur in the mod :) My poor Dwarf from Hardy. Doesnt help that the buckler and sowrd he carries make good aligned people feel uneasy. But nothing detects as evil thank the gods. He is so misunderstood. And yes it is the disfavor of LK.

Then yes, you can play it. Britt has specifically said that people with the disfavor of LK can play in the rest of the mods.

Karistyne: "Sigh...that schmuck again. Good help is *so* hard to find. But, the laws of the universe dictate I send 6 adventurers out, so I guess I'll take him."

The real reason why her disfavor doesn't matter in play is that you can work for any of the other three factions, not just her.

The only impact is that anything coming from her as a reward for service to her faction gets crossed off on your AR.

She'll let you work with her party of flunkies, she just won't reward you for it.

Please note there are 2 different Disfavours of LK, one more severe than the other... Don't get confused. In my opinion, Britt's statement about the Disfavour only applies to the less severe Disfavour, not the more severe one.

I think you should take the Disfavour word for word, and don't do what it says you cannot do.

Unless Britt has anything to say about it...

I can assure you that any DM word her salt can get around a disfavor with Karistyne - even a kill-on-sight - in Rallying Point. I don't know about other scenarios, but with Rallying Point, you should be safe.

My take on it when GMing the Bright Sands series was that Rally Point really SHOULD come in its correct sequence because events and insights in Rally Point can effect the way a character makes choices in later mods. If possible people should defer later mods and play the series in order. Unfortunately most of the local crew decided to grab the opportunity to do other mods first and this did have an effect on how the series developed. Basically Rally Point makes the characters think about the issues and if played too late in the series the PC's will already be confirmed in their affiliations and unlikely to change.

HOWEVER if someone ended up skipping Rally Point its not a huge issue to go back and do it later.

Unless you have an official document saying you can play it then you can't.

Rallying point most definitely starts in a way that you simply can't do with that character. It's arguable that the GM could bring you in after the introduction.

You cannot pretend that you haven't played it yet -you have the AR and it has it's full effect regardless of what you are playing. I haven't actually got my Tears AR and don't remember the precise wording but I'm pretty sure you could still play Dominion with the disfavour (which is the only module that comes after Tears).

You've probably already played it by this point, but I'll throw in my 2 cents anyway.

I've read both mods, and strictly applied, it seems the disfavor would preclude you participating in Rallying Point. That said, I don't think it'd be much of a stretch of the module in structure or spirit to accomodate you with your 'special' position. If the game hasn't yet gone off and your DM is head scratching, just PM me - I might have an idea or two.

Also note that while any particular disfavor may prevent you from directly working for a given person, I see nothing preventing you from acting in a manner consistant with that person's interests. Just don't expect that playing with that rationale to be easy.

Also, should you somehow gain her favor in this mod or another (it'd be difficult, but not impossible), it wouldn't be automatically cancelled by the disfavor, though it seems like a special case worth emailing the circle (Creighton Broadhurst).

It seemed that they could not play their characters in Rallying Point. I e-mailed Creighton, and he wrote that they could and explained why. I printed his e-mail on the back of their ARs just in case.

I got that Disfavor in "Mines Eye", and Karystine either didn't let my character into the castle (Thus meaning that my character met the party after the introduction) or snarked at me for being a failure. But I still got to play the BS mods.

There's at least one player/character in my area who had his Disfavor of Karystine negated after playing Rallying Point.

You can work with the party, and even accomplish a "Karystine" mission. If you successfully serve Karistine in Rallying point, your Disfavor will be negated by the Rallying Point favor.

The Disfavor of Karistine doesn't bar you from playing any bright sands modules because there are multiple benefactors who hire adventurers.

Rallying point is the paladin that hires you .... IMHO how I would handle it is one of the other 2 "Forces if you will" ALWAYS approach the PC .... most likely always the Archmage ... I would Jimmy the intro slightly so as to the entire party was hired by Karastine while this one PC Would be hired by the Archmage

as for Rallying point since the mission the paladin hires you for is actually "Secondary" to the mod ... and the info is already known to the Archmage ... I would have the party meet the PC after the intro and whatnot
