To my knowledge, the only way to get pre-gen LG characters is within the Bright Sands story arc, and from what I have heard, they are underpowered. I would suggest either have the players make up characters before they show up, or make some pre-gen yourself. The Brights Sands pre-gens are available off of the LG intro page:

yea the bright desert pre generated characters are *eh* suboptimal, at least most of them, and they use non-core feats. if you plan to dm the first bright desert module, each of them can be switched into a way more fit character with some easy adjustments (i would only use them with original stat distribution and feats to get a second character in the bright desert region running).

just look at your regional flavour and create some characters that are not to faraway from PHB career.

the problem is that LG characters that aim for certain prestige classes or abilities have to be be custom build right from the start, and it is complicated to explain a newbie why a first level cleric chooses "quicken spell".

standard characters are dwarven barbarian with power attack, human fighter with spiked chain, combat expertise and improved trip, cleric with empower spell, rogue with dodge or skill focus [tumble] or point blank shot, druid with scribe scroll, wizard with empower spell, wood elven ranger with favoured enemy [human] and weapon focus [longbow]. don't use classes like bard, monk or paladin and classes from complete book with nebies.

I dunno, Warmages can be decent for new players. Especially if someone with a bit more experience helps them to build the character.

They're more than a little sub-optimal, especially at higher levels when other spellcasters have stuff that's far more effective than straight damage, but they get you around the typical spellcasters for newbies problem of selecting spells that are effective.

oh great

well there is no way I can generate any characters before then so maybe not be able to play. Thought there were pre-gens for people who have not played before, there are in all other living.

Shame greyhawk cant have a few. oh well

thanks

It honestly doesn't take too long to make up some first-level characters. Invite your group to come in a half-hour early and you can be done and ready to go within that time.

On the plus side, having the players create their own characters gives them a sense of ownership and fulfillment... on the minus side, they may get sad if they die. ;)

are they newbies to lg or are they newbies to d&d 3.5??

dig here for some of the more elaborated builds, or take just the concervative approaches. and present them to the players, make sure to take the builds that explain the WHY and not only the WHAT.

just ask every player in advance what he wants to have, and then ask here again, how to get there.

the problem is that some builds are fragile at the start and only come to shine around the mid levels, so they are not good choices for newbies to the campaign.

They are not nubies just busy people. One off then is busy away from D&D books till Sunday. He going to build his Xen'drik character in the car. Other one may not have time. It is a question of time and a busy life, not an inability to do it. I said I'd try and get some pre-gens as they said it would be unlikely they would get time. I am moving house at mo so no time for me either.
Oh well.

Thanks again

You might try my compilation link - they're not fully statted out, but they give you the race, stats, feats, and build to continue with.

At that point, it is just picking out equipment(just go with the standard class equipment in PHB if in a real hurry) and skills.

I created a few pregens for various PHB race/class combos some time ago.
They were originally intended to be released for the campaign, but for some reason I can't remember (time, rights, whatever) they decided not to.
I have the files, but they are in Word:

I put them up for download at :

http://sunndi.org/downloads/ (http://sunndi.org/downloads/)

You may need a certain font, but you can also download it there.
