| funnymanmike11-23-06, 05:52 PM | If I am a wood elf, and I have the race traitor ability given to me, can I still take a prestige class that is elf only? |
| Arvagor11-23-06, 09:33 PM | Never heard of it; what's a "race traitor"? |
| funnymanmike11-23-06, 09:42 PM | apparently when you kill one of your own race. i was told most of the humans in ket have it already. i got it because an elf did something i told them not to do, if they hadn't done what i told em not to do, then i wouldn't have done what i did. :P |
| Reska11-23-06, 09:46 PM | It sounds like to me that's a role-playing problem, not an access problem. Duchy of Geoff had something similar, "Kinslayer". Only affected elves. All it really meant was they were nearly hostile toward the Kinslayer, and they weren't allowed to play specific modules with that character. Nothing to do with Prestige Class access. Unless it specifically says "no access to any class dealing with elves." |
| RedKnightofKet11-23-06, 09:49 PM | Ummm... I've played every active Ket mod (well, not all the intros, but a good chunk), and I have never encountered this "race traitor" thing. Unless it's some sort of curse (don't see a benefit to it) that's only from an intro I haven't played, I'm guessing this may just be an RP thing. And most humans in Ket probably haven't killed one of their own race. At least, not a fellow Ket citizen; that leads to stock time. Is this certed on your AR? If it is, the implications of it regarding prestige classes, circumstance penalties, etc, should be clearly spelt out. If it doesn't say anything about it, then I would infer that it doesn't impact it. And if it's not on the AR, it may just be an RP thing. Have fun with it (killing elves is hardly a bad thing), and incorporate it into your character. apparently when you kill one of your own race. i was told most of the humans in ket have it already. i got it because an elf did something i told them not to do, if they hadn't done what i told em not to do, then i wouldn't have done what i did. :P |
| funnymanmike11-23-06, 11:15 PM | it was added in pen after the game, just says "Race Traitor !" i agree thought the rules in ket are to much. |
| RedKnightofKet11-23-06, 11:50 PM | I never said the laws in Ket are too much. I like them. All I said was that killing elves isn't a big deal. And the law says about the same thing - don't you dare kill a man's horse, though: that has value! As for the "race traitor" thing, it sounds like play notes that really shouldn't have a significant impact on PrC's. Just try to keep it in that character. You must have had your game run by someone who plays an elf.... |
| Potmos11-24-06, 05:19 PM | it was added in pen after the game, just says "Race Traitor !" i agree thought the rules in ket are to much. Sounds like you played the Ket intro "On the Road Again", lovingly referred to by our gaming group as "Elf Hunt". Playing an elf of any kind in Ket is tricky, since the general populace has a great distrust towards elves. (after all, it was elves who stole the Cup and Talisman of Al'Akbar). So the humans will view you with mistrust because you are a wood elf, and the elves native to Ket (mostly-xenophobic wood elves and totally xenophobic wild elves) will also view you with mistrust for cavorting with humans. That being said, there are many elven PCs in Ket, who range from the "more Ketite than the Ketites" type through neutral parties all the way up to "I'm here to work against the government in secret." Some Ketite elven PCs have left the lands of Ket to further elven causes elsewhere on Oerth. Some have joined the military and help defend Ket against her allies/enemies (both are the same thing to us). So play the character any way you want, just don't break the laws (or don't get caught...) and everything will be fine. Otherwise, it's stock and/or mine time for you! And if you think playing an elf in Ket is hard, trying playing a paladin of the Exalted Faith of Al'Akbar. Now that makes for some interesting role-playing party conflict. Michael aka: Bahadur i-Taronish, Exalted One of the High Cleric who travels the Baklunish lands with his faithful cohort Farzan al'Qadi in their attempts to bring the True Faith and the Exalted Faith back together again. |
