my player wants a chain shirt and buckler made of mithril...we are playing in the dyvers region..is it available to him? or is there something special he will need to do?

the sooner this gets answered the less likely i kick him for bugging me :)

According to the LGCS, items made from special materials, besides Alchemal Silver, are not standard and access to them must be earned thru adventuring or meta-orgs. Having been a Dyversian before, I have seen mithral chain shirt on an AR and my daughter's character owns a set. I haven't seen any other mithral items, though.

check http://dyvers.living-greyhawk.com/metaorgs.html to see if any of the Dyvers meta-orgs offer access to it

ah very kool...i had assumed that it would take some work on their behalf ...i had mentioned to my group that there were quite a few groups to join also within dyvers and they should look into it..this will be a great help...

Not quite 100% true. You can also get weapons made out of Cold Iron the same as Alchemecial Silver.

Just something to point out.

So...anyone played a mod where they got access to a psudeodragon familiar?

Not 100% sure on this, but I dont think you need AR access for a psuedodragon familiar, the DMG says you have to be of the correct alignment and a 7th level caster. The LGCS allows access to the familiars in the DMG.....

Nope.

But there was one in Dyvers.

I know without playing because I was Dyvers Triad at the time it was sanctioned, which means it is already retired.

I REALLY hated the mod, but it was written by the only other member we had on our Triad a the time, and there was no time to replace it with anything that had a plot, or did more than showcase meta-orgs and offer two wizardly toys.

I'm curious how many of the "bad" regional modules out there were accepted because there was no time ot replace them with somehting that served the plotline better?

We've got that same kind of thing going on here in the shield lands. We've only got two people in our "Triad", and one just joined up. We were sitting with only one for a while. >=/

And you don't automatically get access to the Psudodragon just by nabbing improved familiar.

Quite a few. I can think of 4 off-hand in my region that should never have been released. Half of them were block text and the only plot decisions were "follow me or die" or which bad guy to kill next. Not to mention the TPKs or nearly automatic PC deaths due to not reading Core Rules when writing.

I'm pretty sure your triad will gladly take a look at your adventure summary, and gladly accept your offer to check their regionals for glaring errors against the core rules.

Of course, that would mean you'd have to get off the sideline, and actually do something, which most people aren't willing to do. They'd rather complain about the crap job their regions volunteers are doing, instead of putting their money where their mouth is and contributing something themselves.

Jeff beat me to the punch, or else I would mention the retired Year One Dyvers mod. I actually made a profit of 1gp in that one, which is more than I can say for the rest of the table.

For those of you outside of Dyvers or the VTF, beware of mods whose author's initals are "P.T.", because it usually stands for "pretty tiresome".

<rant> Don't forget that the Triads aren't the only ones responsible for bad mods. The Co6 has to review them. Just because you can release a certain amount of regional mods per year doesn't mean you have to if the quality isn't good. </rant>

And like they said before, you can always write one yourself.

Yeah, check the new version of the LGCS. Improved familiar is now a *core* feat but you have to meet the prereqs for it.

Without anyone quoting for me or posting a pg. reference, I found it myself. Even if you have the feat you still can only access standard PHB familiars without documentation.

To get a pseudodragon, I believe you must have access to the Improved Familiar feat, or access through and AR. I have played a mod that gives access to one through an AR.
