I know the PHB says that Barbarians who become lawful can no-longer use Rage. My question is, if they once again cease to be lawful, do they regain their Rage ability?

I think an ex-barbarian who loses the ability to rage by turning lawful, who later shifts back to neutral or chaotic, would have to gain another level of barbarian to regain their rage ability.

Thanks. That's kinda what I thought, but I wasn't sure (and I don't know that I'm even going to have that char return to being neutral anyway) but I thought I'd double-check.

One more question that I think I can hazzard a guess about answer to but want to make sure: do prestige classes that say they add to the number of spells per day (and spells known) also add to caster level for spells that have variables (duration, damage, area, etc.) dependant upon the character's caster level?

I think an ex-barbarian who loses the ability to rage by turning lawful, who later shifts back to neutral or chaotic, would have to gain another level of barbarian to regain their rage ability.

Why?

A Cleric who loses Wisdom points loses the ability to cast higher level spells, but AS SOON AS HE MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS AGAIN, he regains access.

A Fighter who loses the required Str score loses access to Power Attack (even if he already took it), but as soon as his Str is 13+ again, he can use it, again. Doesn't matter if the score is temporary to due to Bull's Strength or whatever.

The inherent rule seems to be that is something has a specific requirement (non-lawful alignment for Barabarian unique abilities), that you lose those abilities when you fail to meet the requirement, and you regain them once you meet it again.

Just a different opinion.

Yeah, once your mind resumes it's way of chaos you can again fall into the rage that those silly barbarian can fall into.

As for the second question, no!

If a PrC gives you bonus spells, like the Dragon Diciple for example, you only are gaining extra slots to memorize or spontaniously cast spells. This is why you should never go straight Sorcerer/Dragon Diciple. You'll be a moderately strong low hitpoint guy with crappy weapon proficiencies and spells that will have stopped being useful ages ago.

The PrC has to specifically give you +1 caster level for it to count towards anything.
