| the truthseeker12-24-04, 06:21 AM | Without going into spoiler details, several rewards were offered that are only listed as in the "Fiend Folio". How does one get a printout of said items if the Judge did not have them? |
| SteveMND12-24-04, 09:08 AM | Well, without knowing the specifics of the mod in question, here's the general rule on non-Core books: if you have access to something from a non-Core book (such as FF, or MM3, or Complete Divine, etc.), then you have to have a copy of the book with you at the table in order to use it (yours, another player's, the judge's, whatever). If the item/creature/reward is really that cool, you may need to go out and get a copy of the book (or borrow a friend's copy, which happens more often than not). Technically, you're supposed to have a copy of the book, but most judges I've met wouldn't begrudge a person with a clear photocopy of the page in question. Just don't count on it all the time, though, as there is the occasional stickler judge out there. |
| oroborous12-24-04, 07:34 PM | What I have done, when a player is given an non-standard reward, is to print out that portion of the module with the explaination of the reward. Usually this is in the appendix marked "New Rules", but some are also written out on the AR. So, if you can, ask the judge to print out the pages for you. It shouldn't be much of a hastle for him, unless he deleted the mod. |
| Mythrasus01-17-05, 10:03 AM | The items your talking about are described in the appendix of the module, if your GM is nice and doesnt need them again, they might be kind enough to let you have a copy. Andrew Onnwal Triad |

Andrew Onnwal Triad True, but: 1. The DM is long gone 2. I'm referring to a specific creature, also. And that for potential support reasoning, I'd need its stat block. Thus the FF issue. Josh |

| the truthseeker01-18-05, 08:57 PM | Once again, see 1. If I can't get the module (unless running it), and the beasties are not posted somewhere on a website (and I've looked), then if I get access post game, then I am forced to buy the book, get a copy of the monster stat from the module, made an upapproved copy from the FF, or be forced without it. Anyway, I've already made a point that 2 items offered in this book should not make you buy a non player book in LG's yahoo discussion group. If it were a player book, I'd not be as upset that the author did not include a handout or AR listing. <<Quote: Originally Posted by the truthseeker True, but: 1. The DM is long gone 2. "Forced" to not have an special thing that most folks don't have...Boo hoo...No one is forcing you to do anything, if the beasties are important enough to you, you'll get the materials you need somehow...And was the DM not there when you got the ARs and saw you required a book you did not have? You're claiming that you don't like a reward from a non-core book...Plenty of people (the majority I would expect) are actually excited to see those every once and a while...Even if it means going through a little trouble to get the info they need (and of course the info isn't on the net, it's copyrighted)... Here's a solution: Take the Herald DM test, order the module for a game and run the module for you friends (if the game gets canceled for your friends failing to show, oh well)...then you have the module... Alternatively, check on the various regional Yahoo groups and see if you can find the module...Someone is likely to have it and could send it to you...It's a current module, anyone can get it... |
| CruelDM01-20-05, 07:13 AM | It seems that you are unwilling to buy the book. Thats fine, but dont down an author for giving access to the item/creature, he didnt have to do that. If you are unwilling to buy the book then you are apparently unwilling to access the feat/spell/item/creature you were granted access to. Alternately, you could take the access to the mentioned item/creature, buy it in game (without owning the book), and only use it when the book you needed was at a table you played on. You have more choices than buying the book, and certainly arent being forced to do anything. Forced assumes absense of choice. You might not like your choices, but thats a different argument. |
| Casebier01-20-05, 01:03 PM | Since FF is 3.0, I've been looking for some erratas, but haven't found any yet for one of the items... I'm trying to be as vague as possible while still saying enough to help those who know what I'm talking about. 1. Allergic reactions (ie- rash, hives, etc) are caused by something nonliving reacting with your system, so it would be considered a poison? 2. How are you supposed to breath/see/hear if you use it? 3. What does it consider as an effect? Does it mean everything in that section of the DMG? 4. What should the toughness/hit points of it be, and what would it be resistant to? If responding to this message on the board would give too much away, contact me off-list (I think I have contact info). John Rogers, Jr |
