| ShinAkuma206-22-05, 01:57 PM | Hey, my first post. Go me. >_> Anyway, I was just wondering if the Ocean tattoo would allow a TMonk to bypass paying Lifestyle costs. Ocean states that the character doesn't need to eat, drink, or sleep. Does Lifestyle provide something other than those commidities, or can I use the tattoo like a survival check that always works? While we're on the subject, since a TMonk with Wasp can haste himself, I was wondering if you use Flurry of Blows and/or haste, AND you use Two-Weapon Fighting for off-hand attacks, if either effect would grant extra off-hand attacks, or if you're stuck with the one unless you have the enhancement feats/high enough BAB. ...Is that even a legitimate sentence? <_< Anyway, yesh. |

Lifestyle costs include things such as replacing expended ammunition, repairs to clothing, inn fees, and resting up in between adventures. Any character can bypass such costs, but it gives you penalties to social modifiers, doesn't allow you to replace ammo, or allow you to heal at the end of adventures. Many of these disadvantages can be avoided if you character can make a DC 20 survival check. Ocean tattoo doesn't really help with that. Avoiding sleep is useful in LG, since being attacked at night when many party members are asleep and out of armour is not unheard of. Avoiding eating and drinking is less so, although there have been some modules where you risk run out of water.. As far as I know, you can combine haste, flurry and two weapon fighting. However, both flurry and haste only give one extra attack each, not one for your main attack and one for your off hand as well. Thus a first level flurrying hasted two-weapon fighting monk would have 4 attacks. See the PHB FAQ for more details, downloadable from the WOTC website. |

I think that this attack could be with either your dominant hand or your off-hand, although I could easily be wrong on this, as I do not have the book to hand (so to speak). Moreover, most people in that situation would choose the dominant hand since they probably do more damage with it. |

A good reason to use the off-hand side is because it is a different damage type or has a different enchantment. It should be possible to take a longstaff, an exotic double weapon from CV, and use it with the monk flurry (it is a monk special weapon), the EWM flurry and the two weapon fighting feats. Of course, you'd be getting a lot of little penalties to each attack. |
