Later this summer I'll have some friends over for a week and so I decided to run some LG mods for them. I've been looking around at the documentation but I just wanted to clarify some things so I don't screw up my own playing and my fiance's playing, as we both play together.

It's perfectly understandable that once I order a mod that I won't be able to play it as a player. Because of that I was thinking of ordering some mods that I have already played with my character so I'm not restricting what I can play with my normal LG sessions.

However one thing I was wondering is whether my fiance could play mods that she as a player has played before, but with a different character? When my friends come to stay for the week would she be able to play the mod again if she made a new character? She's a good sport and would make sure she didn't spoil things, more just be there for the ride and see how it unfolds with a new group.

So I guess my first question is whether a player can play a mod several times with different characters?

Second question is in regard to the mods you can order. Are all the ones currently listed for order still active? I understand that mods eventually retire, but are they still available for ordering? I just don't want to order a retired mod.

No, and why would you want to? You already know the adventure, so what is the fun in playing it again?

If it is still in the system you can order it. In case of regional adventures you might want to check (a) if there even is an adventure with that number and (b) if it premiered already, because regionals are not always up-to-date.

Thanks for the quick reply. Another question...

Where does one get the registration cards for the RPGA, the mail in postcard with the member card attached? Are those sent to you when you first order mods or is there a Living Greyhawk DM starter kit?

They used to automatically send you a stack of the cards when you ordered an event, but I'm not sure that they do that anymore.

Once you order your event (and, thus, have an "event code" from the RPGA system), send an e-mail to rpgasanctioning@wizards.com, with that event code, and your own RPGA number and snail-mail address, and ask them to send you a stack of cards.

Madfox already answered this...the system specifically won't allow a particular player to play the same adventure more than once.

Second question is in regard to the mods you can order. Are all the ones currently listed for order still active? I understand that mods eventually retire, but are they still available for ordering? I just don't want to order a retired mod.

For LG, all the "Year 5" modules are active, as are the "Year 6" modules that have been released so far. LG retires modules an entire year at a time, at the end of the calendar year...so, on 12/31/05, all the Year 5 modules will retire all at once.

For Core modules, retirement vs. ordering is never an issue...if the system will let you order it for a particular date, then it's legal to play on that date. For Regionals, as Madfox notes, you should talk to your Triad to make sure that the module that's on the system as "orderable" has actually been released.
