| EberronMoses10-24-06, 01:29 AM | Yeomanry 4 Life dawg! Just messin with ya. What region r u from and what do u like about it? I like the Yeomanry cuz it reminds me of the Confederate South with its democracy. We also have really cool enemies what with the giants in the Joten Mountains. I've also heard that the old mod "Vault of the Drow" takes place here. I'm not sure if thats true but if it is its really cool that we may see some Drow. I don't think its common to see Drow in Living Greyhawk. Does your regions ever seen any Drow? |
| Japangirl10-24-06, 01:49 AM | Bandit Kingdoms, where everyone detects as evil and evil acts are a necessary part of survival. Where else are paladins looked down upon as endangering the party by their very existence? Where else is disguise practically a required skill and hats of disguise highly prized as a simple survival tool? And where else can a slightly crazy halfling rogue coup de'grace the captured assassins without any fear of retribution? A chaotic evil region is fun simply because you can be slightly evil without worrying about the consequences nearly as much. Hail Iuz! |
| DuctShuiTengu10-24-06, 02:28 AM | Gran March. Military capital of the world. Basic membershit in the military: 3 years service. :( Standard anual service with your unit: 2 TUs. :( Time committed to military-related missions: 39 TUs. :( Scoffing at your allies after you had to save their country yet again: priceless. :P |
| _m_10-24-06, 02:39 AM | Hail Iuz! BAH. heresy. perenland (though they just changed us to ratik). where the dead are alive, and they alive are only very fractionaly more alive than the dead, where the good guys are evil, the evil guys are evil, and the neutrals... are neutral evil... is anyone else seeing a pattern? as for ratik, ive only been there once, and i got imprisoned for 8 TU's... so.... im staying in perenland! where the dead are al.... oh you get the idea. |
| Lupo10-24-06, 03:35 AM | Main homeland: Adri/Innspa (United Kingdom of Ahlissa) Principality of Innspa, where our beloved and gracefull princess Karasin guides the affairs of her small fiefdom in the United Kingdom of Ahlissa. Don't talk bad about her, you never know who is listening and she is said to be a powerfull necr. . . eh arcanist. Half of the guards are Hextorites, the other half is just corrupt and cruel on their own behalf. The city is filled with an uncountable number of temples and shrines, so plots from one belief to decrease the esteem of another one are common. Also plots inside a temple's hierarchy are happening from time to time. And you always can run into or be run over by a latest gnomish invention, with more or less fatal results. The Adri forest has proofen to resist any attempt of the Kingdom of Ahlissa to control it, so far. The woodsfolk just don't want to become loyal citizens of it:). The forest is filled with powerfull druids, with a good number of them being evil or insane or both, picky, b****y elves and dangerous flora and fauna, lately enriched by a score of devils and undead. And don't ignore the usual threads as bandits, humanoids, slavers and natural hazards. Second character base: Sunndi Sunndi, welcome to the land of freedom, sunshine, and mutant-berserk-frogs! Really, THE place for individualists, you can get away with nearly everything, as long as you aren't a Wastrian, a bullywug or a Scarlet Brotherhood agent dumb enough to be caught. Rigth now, it is a little more organized, with lots of battles against the invaders. The damned frogs hold control over at least a quarter of the Sunndian heartlands and are still pushing on. So, if you are planning a career in the army, come to Sunndi, fast promotion guaranteed, if you survive. Further character homelands: Naerie (Ahlissa), Ekbir, Bright Desert ciao Martin M. |
| RedKnightofKet10-24-06, 07:26 PM | The Great Nation of Ket! I know a lot of people don't like our "nonsense" about stock time for even assault offences, but in a lot of ways it makes sense - real people need some protection from those crazy adventurers roaming around. And +1 merciful saps are handy in almost any adventure. And the xenophobia against elves adds some great flavour to our region - I play a wood elf ranger/barbarian (favoured enemy - human) who no longer goes to Ket - with Intelligence 6, he's at least THAT smart... The one problem I do have has more to do with LG rules than Ket itself... but recently, Hextor was re-instituted as a legal religion in Ket (but not in LG, obviously). Now, I would love to play a fighter who worships Hextor, but the best I can do is one who has a "healthy respect" for the way his church conducts itself. |
| _m_10-24-06, 07:43 PM | hextor worship... reminds me of nerull. everyone i know seems to have multiple favours from the old crank, and probably most pc's over lvl 6 have met his hand from time to time. evil, it seems, is the new good. |
| retro10-24-06, 08:17 PM | Hey, would you sooner have Nerull on our side, or against us? Ah, Perrenland. Where most of the undead are hostile, sunlight vulnerability means nothing, and no-one bothers to prepare divination spells. How can you not love a country where Nerull is one of the state religions? But I'm looking forward to seeing more of Ratik. Living in a region that isn't being invaded by armies of demons and undead should be a nice change. |
| Cynric10-24-06, 08:38 PM | Ah, Perrenland. Where most of the undead are hostile, sunlight vulnerability means nothing, and no-one bothers to prepare divination spells. How can you not lovew a country where Nerull is one of the state religions? But I'm looking forward to seeing more of Ratik. Living in a region that is'nt being invaded by armies of demons and undead should be a nice change. True, but it means my druid gets less of a chance to beautify (reforest) Iuz's capital. It would be amusing to see the look on some Boneheatrs face when the plant life suddenly returns and starts taking out their armies. |
| NiTessine10-24-06, 08:51 PM | The Ahlissan Principality of Naerie! Where Hextor is the second-largest church and the standing army is the largest employer in the land! Where Trithereonites are deported, Knights of the Chase executed, and freedom fighters have no legal protection! Where the iron fist of Ahlissan rule is welcomed, because the iron fist of Scarlet Brotherhood was worse! Where we have no "evil acts", just Survival skill checks! Naerie is the land of the grey areas, the morally suspect decisions and realpolitik. We don't get undead threats, merely Scarlet Brotherhood remnants and double agents, and the main conflict is between the Ahlissan rulers and the Idee Volunteers, our local guerilla freedom fighters. We also get a Brotherhood Soldier metaorg. I like it here. The action tends to be very small in scale, which keeps it more credible. It's also probably a necessity dictated by the fact that our highest-level local character is 11th-level, and the guys after that are two 9th-level guys. You don't get very epic when you're only capable of mustering a single APL 10 party in the entire country, and most of them will be playing it up. |

| ShinAkuma210-24-06, 11:04 PM | Keoland: There's no undead, and heaven forbid you even suggest the notion of such a thing. We're also famous for the phrase, "Welcome to Keoland. Roll for initiative." |
| Samwise10-24-06, 11:40 PM | You are from Keoland and you said the "u" word! /me makes a report to the Darkwatch And let's keep it in perspective. The real problem with Keoland is that it is against the law to know what is against the law. Don't do it. Don't think about doing it. Don't think about asking about what you shouldn't be doing. |
| JohnduBois10-24-06, 11:49 PM | I'm from Furyondy - possibly the opposite of Keoland. Instead of "there are no undead in Keoland", we hear, "Did you bring a Radiant Servant? Good, then you have a chance of turning the undead in the capitol!" |
| Lomiat10-24-06, 11:51 PM | The Restored Holy Realm of the Faithful of the Shield Lands: We've been fighting against Iuz *spit!!!* for years, fertilizing the soil with the blood of our warriors, waging war against orcs and undead and demons and Bonehearts for every inch of Reclaimed Territories. After a massive Iuzian army launched assaults on several major strongholds (destroying Gensal, which was recaptured, then destroyed again, then reclaimed again) and was repelled by the joint strengths of the Standing Army and many bands of adventurers, the land was recently beset by a plague that swept not only across its borders but into Dyvers as well--until adventurers scoured the Oerth for the cure. Currently, the Standing Army oversees the reoccupation efforts on Scragholme Island and at Amundfort, and all seems to be going well--for the moment--but there are many who suspect something foul is brewing among the Council of Lords. There are rumors of treachery... Even alliances with the Old One... |
| ezreal200110-25-06, 01:14 AM | Gran March. Military capital of the world. Funny I thought the correct spelling was Perrenland:) Newly exiled to Ratik. To paraphrase Crazy Earl "Those were great days we lived in the Iuz Border States. Team Pig on a Spit were jolly green giants, stealing anything in sight that wasn't nailed down. Those things we wasted were the finest creatures we ever knew. After I got back to the world, I missed not having anything around that was worth killing." |

| Prochytes10-25-06, 08:20 AM | Welcome to Onnwal! Land of opportunity, moral ambiguity, and scree slopes! Those propped up by cheesy baubles or access need not apply. In Onnwal, men are real men, women are real women, monks are real target-practice, and if the Szek tells you to walk straight into the occupied capital without any magical trinkets and kill anything that gets in your way with your teeth, you had better $%*&(£ well do it. Onnwal is a realm of impossible choices and Pyrrhic victories. Having dispensed with the foul occupying forces of the Scarlet Brotherhood, Onnwalons have renewed the unending struggle against their ancestral enemy – each other. The Flan are at the throats of the Dwur; the Dwur are at the, er, belts of the Flan; nobles and peasantry are doing the insurrection tango. Meanwhile, beneath the Headlands, an evil is stirring so ancient that in comparison Vecna is a toddler and the Old One is a foetus. Join it without delay, and get your very own funky scary template! It is grim; it is angsty; and maybe no one will care if you “win”. And my PCs would not have it any other way. |
| gomeztoo10-25-06, 09:16 AM | And the xenophobia against elves adds some great flavour to our region Heh. We had our DM roleplay that all through a certain Ket-based Core... Anyway, my PCs: Verbobonc: Xenophoboc elves, powerhungry nobles, bloodthirsty weres and manic half-dragons. Plots thicker than something really thick that's thicky. Despite never having played a regional, or metaregional, I managed to get my PC involved with some plots. I may have one of the few PCs who actually got arrested and send to prison on an IC mailinglist... my advise: don'argue with dwarves... I plan to finally play some metaregionals next week... Sunndi: Well, the dwarven empire of Glorvardum in the Glorioles. We are an openminded people, which means we don't bash your head in before we ask questions. We look at the striugglign huamsn in the lows with soem suprise and bemusement. It's a wonder that rabble even kept the bullwyugs into the swamp till now. Ah well, at least they didn't blow up their own capitol, like SOME countries I could mention... The Bright Sands: The desert is my home. The wilds, the sands, the winds, the heat... survival, That's where it's all about. Evade city live whenever you can. It can't be healthy. |

| Gelth10-25-06, 01:07 PM | Ket, obviously. The law says that killing citizens is illegal and will get you sent to the mines, so that's what happens. What, they attacked you first? So sorry, that doesn't make your actions legal, we hate vigilantes here. Ket, where every other region is merely a province of Ket that doesn't know it yet. Our army hasn't been beaten since... hmm. Since we threw out the Keoish Occupation, I suppose, a very very long time ago. Ket, where Hextorites are welcomed as long as they behave themselves, but Quadis or Elves or Trithereonites or Holy Liberators are watched like hawks, because they are probably planning on breaking the law. Ket, Gateway to the West. Our neighbours live in fear, because we've invaded most of them, and recently. --Penn, Ket Triad |

| EberronMoses10-25-06, 02:18 PM | wow, this thread has gotten good response, good. Anyone else from the Yeomanry on this forum though? There aren't enough people wanting to play RPGA in our area so we haven't got anybody really wanting to run Living Greyhawk. It also looks like our home site is a touch old but I'm new to LG so it may just be usual. But come on! I wanna hear from some people from the Yeo! |
| Snappa10-25-06, 06:57 PM | Principality of Ulek, where you can't relax in a tavern in any major city without some dwarven army commander recruiting you to retrieve some gem from deep beneath the earth, just so the prince can have another bauble attached to his axe. A deific tart hurling an axe at you is not the basis for a system of government. True executive power can only be derived by a mandate from the masses, and judging by our character-base, the shorties are not long in power. Oh yes, West Celene, I do believe I like the sound of that. Just got to get rid of that pesky Mak and his piggy friends. Of course, my elven druid may just be a little biased. |

| SgtHulka10-25-06, 11:06 PM | "Messy business, that, democracy. Most men and women of taste, distinction and culture agree...better to rule the mob than be ruled by it. Of course, in the more rural and backward lands one may find there to be no person of distinction capable to lead, and therefore democracy may be a necessary evil. Of course one finds cannibalism, too, in backward lands, and few people extoll its virtues." "As for my own homeland...yes, yes it is true I was born, even I was a babe once I did not spring forth whole-cloth...what was I saying? Oh yes, in my own homeland we are governed by that most advanced of civic institutions the benevelant dictatorship. Though I must confess even His August Supremacy, Champion of Heironeous, King Lynwerd Lehron, in all his divinely inspired wisdom, could hardly put pen to paper on even the simplest decree were it not for the army of thoroughly-professional and well-qualified bureaucrats that advise him. Those such as myself...what was that? Oh, yes, I don't mean to boast but it is true I have advised that government on more than one occasion. I do not enjoy the business of politics but when called upon by civic duty one can hardly refuse. I am, after all, a public figure well-known in that land for my prodigious intelligence." "But enough talk about Nyrond...I prefer to think of the world as my stage. And politics is so boring. I can tell you agree...you, my friend, are a man of action! Looking for a little excitement, are you? A little wager, perhaps? You happen to be in luck...no, no, no need to signal the barkeep I have a pair of dice right here. Is dice not your game? How about cards? No, I must insist, we shall use my deck. Taverns always mark their cards in favor of the house. Better to trust our own, don't you think? Yes, yes, I shall cut them myself, no need to overly exert yourself. How about a nice platinum crown to start?" --Ray-Pierre Whit |

I know paladin girl is a 15, and her household staff are mixed 12/13's. Meanwhile, im curious as to what rary actually is, given he kinda trounced tenser and otiluke at the same time. Tenser is listed as a LG male human WIZ 22. There was actually a pretty interesting article about him on the RPGA, recently: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=lg/lgmp/20061017 However, as much as I suspect Rary's at that level or higher, it's entirely unnecessary to be higher level than two archmages in order to be able to defeat them, especially if you have the advantage of some degree of surprise (even if it's slight). Combat between such powerful mages should turn on preparations made days, weeks or months in advance. Rary's coup proved so devastating largely because he had taken the precautions necessary to destroy clones and isolate his opponents from their allies. While a lesser mage can't necessarily do as much in combat in the course of a given day as a greater mage, the lesser mage might be able to enter a situation with all the appropriate measures taken to focus on a greater mage (or two). Just think about what a wizard could do in a single combat if every spell he had available to him was prepared specifically for that combat (and he didn't feel it necessary to worry about other combats). That's the situation Rary was in at the time... Whether or not he was more powerful, individually, than Tenser or Otiluke, he was far better prepared. |
| _m_11-02-06, 10:25 PM | Tenser is listed as a LG male human WIZ 22. Personaly, my money would actually be on otiluke over tenser. I wonder if, when i finish utterly destroying rary (hey, its gonna be in a mod sooner or later... death to the traitor and all that), il find otiluke... but yeah, i guess even tenser, if caught unprepared, is killable. |
| Piuro11-03-06, 03:31 PM | The Duchy of "White Power" Urnst, reporting for duty. (Is a half-baklunish Kettite... :( ) |
| BrotherCadfael11-04-06, 01:36 AM | I'm also in the Yeomanry, where the easiest path to citizenship is to serve 3 years in the militia. And while we might the most democratic system of government on Oerth, the half-orcs are not all satisfied with the fact that they are still denied citizenship due to their race. |
| WotC_Tulach11-04-06, 11:14 PM | I love all my regions in my metaregion equally. |
| RedKnightofKet11-04-06, 11:28 PM | I love all my regions in my metaregion equally. Shouldn't you now say that like all of the regions in Greyhawk, Mr. Content Manager? :P |
| JohnduBois11-04-06, 11:33 PM | Shouldn't you now say that like all of the regions in Greyhawk, Mr. Content Manager? :P I think where Chris is at is the position where you know you have the promotion, but still have to tie up loose ends at the current job. At least, I hope he's tying up loose ends... otherwise, I have no idea who's Circle-editing my Furyondy mod that's premiering in two weeks... :P |
| Britt11-14-06, 02:49 AM | Ah, Perrenland...no-one bothers to prepare divination spells. Yeah, that was a shock and pain in the rear for me when I played in the interactive at SRDU and I was trying to find diviners. Everyone just looked at me like I was crazy. Divination spells? What are those? |
| opa11-14-06, 04:26 AM | Bissel here, and if you are looking for all keolands undead they pipe them into Bissel through the sewers... |
| LGMoses11-14-06, 07:35 AM | y does noone prepare divination spells in Perrenland? |
| Cynric11-15-06, 05:00 PM | y does noone prepare divination spells in Perrenland? Mainly because the evil witch queen Iggwilv and Joramy (volcano Diety) have unfortunately helped each other out in the fact that most of them do not work. Admittedly, Joramy was not trying to help Iggwilv, more of Iggwilv taking advantage of the situation. |
| _m_11-15-06, 05:12 PM | because they dont work. ... at all... ... not even a little... yeah that interactive was funny. we needed divination, and the best we could come up with was a warpriest with 1 scry on like a scroll, and a bunch of 'i think i could take it tommorow's'. meanwhile, i still thing we shud have gone with the trojan wooden badger idea. |
| Calinon11-20-06, 10:59 PM | Duchy of Urnst, for all my characters, despite an unwelcome shifting of the region I reside in to Zeif. |
| _m_11-20-06, 11:02 PM | Duchy of Urnst, for all my characters, despite an unwelcome shifting of the region I reside in to Zeif. yeah, i was kind of anoyed when my perenlander whom i loved so very, very much suddenly became a ratiken... |
| Cynric11-21-06, 03:48 AM | Perrenland, where not only is your war our business, but we even bring our zoo along. Careful kiddies, it is most definately not the petting type of zoo:D |
| _m_11-21-06, 06:09 PM | Perrenland, where not only is your war our business, but we even bring our zoo along. Careful kiddies, it is most definately not the petting type of zoo:D i beg to differ. all you crazy druids have CUTE CUDDLY little pets. im surprised anyone could resist hugging them. they're just so... pat-able. :D besides, everyone knows that wizard familiars > druid pets... | _m_11-21-06, 10:53 PM | Your familiar will get eaten by my tiger next time. We got it to plus 32 to hit  the other day, who needs a fighter?:D i can think of 2 fairly major reasons why you're wrong. firstly, when fighting deffensively, with buffs only from me, my old familiar had 44 ac. with other people stacking buffs its up over 50. but thats neither here nor there. that familiar dosent exist any more. the second major reason, regarding my current familiar.... its IMMUNE to physical damage. and it cannot be grappled. ever. |
| Kelios_Lyonsmane11-24-06, 07:44 PM | Tusmit here ...and feeling kinda lonely :weep: |

| Japangirl11-24-06, 11:29 PM | I think it's a shadow companion. Shadows are a little bit scary :). |
| _m_11-26-06, 05:31 PM | I think it's a shadow companion. Shadows are a little bit scary :). you think right. shadow template elemental template / traits extra planar type dark template |
| LGMoses11-26-06, 11:57 PM | thats a lot of templates. |
| _m_11-27-06, 12:14 AM | thats a lot of templates. aint it just? and it gets companion animal bonuses, like hd, feats and dex bumps, and familiar abilities like delivering spells. oh and i forgot its incorporeal also. thats taken for granted from the shadow type, but still. |
| Darienne11-28-06, 09:25 AM | Yeomanry here as well... In the Yeomanry, the militia/military is a 'Good Idea' NOT a way of life... unlike my Gran March neighbors who tend to take themselves a bit too seriously. :D I'm in the Militia because I'm an adventurer and I'd be taking on most of the same tasks on my own anyway. Plus as a bonus after three years of service (a mere 12 TUs a year) for a 1000 gp entry fee you can enter the 'land lottery' and have your own space to hang your hat and make money off of if you're blessed with good land in the lottery. Also, we help our neighbors without feeling the need to take over part of their land.:P |
| DuctShuiTengu11-28-06, 10:13 AM | Hey, if the Geoffites had been able to defend their country from the Giants in the first place, they wouldn't have had to turn Hochoch over to us in return for our saving them. Gran March - The only real army in the entire Sheldomar Valley. (Though I here we're going to be training the boys in Sterich, so they might catch up eventually) |

Ah... Most of my PCs have their home region in the Shield Lands. Even though I don't really like the thought of a military-minded PC, I'm seriously tempted to buy into the whole "Holy Realm at war needs its devoted soldiers" business to join the ranks of the broken airborne infantry--the Griffon Riders. Yes, we are now apparently competing for the Ridiculous Access Region Award (which, if Award somehow started with Y, would be the RARY.... hmm... How to start Award with Y? Yaward?). Flying, pouncing, spirited charging, paladins on griffons. It's scary. What's scarier? Iuz still occupies 80% or more of the Realm. They've got to have some REALLY scary stuff to oppose all those griffons and riders. |
| The White Sorcerer11-29-06, 01:01 AM | Where Hextor is the second-largest church... ...yet none of us can worship him.:weep: Where Trithereonites are deported, Knights of the Chase executed, and freedom fighters have no legal protection! Huzzah! :fight!: |
| Darienne11-29-06, 01:23 AM | Yah y'betch yah. I already have access to a griffin, and I believe my rogue/scout (archer) could be pretty fierce on one - just haven't figured out the necessary feats to be effective and the necessary ones to maximize yet :evillaugh Many of our citizens are riding around on giant owls as well. Everyone gets some cheese sometimes... yet it never seems enough. :dancin: Then again, I have a Bright Lands Centaur and a level one rogue that is about to multi-class sorcerer so I can get this cool monkey familiar I now have access to... so even the core mods can dish it out at times. Stay warm :) |
| Sutro11-29-06, 05:26 AM | Yeomanry well-represented here! Ah, the classics that were Yeomanry Year 4 mods. By Broken Murder, Heart of the TPK... I must say this is the ONLY region I've been to (and I've been to quite a few) where I ran into an 11HD advanced undead creature with 242hp with a full attack something like 2x3d6+12 - in a desecrated shrine - at APL 6. And don't forget the Huge Advanced Fire Elemental. In the same mod. A few more things to love about the Yeomanry: * The weapons talk more than the characters do, and have more boxed text than the monsters. * Blighted Souls. * The Shale Fens fey, apparently, hate everyone. * The death of an unknown 1st level commoner four years ago in the farthest corners of the swamps impacted our storyline. * Be a golem! * Marry a half-orc! -Sutro |
| Japangirl11-29-06, 03:40 PM | Sounds like a nasty monster. Still not sure it beats the vampire with 4 fighter levels at APL 4 though . . . obscuring mist + tumble is a lifesaver. |
| NiTessine11-29-06, 07:39 PM | ...yet none of us can worship him.:weep: At least we have Stern Alia, who's the next best thing. Possibly even better, the way her church can merge the tyrannical authoritarianism of the Hextorites with their ideology of Oeridian cultural superiority. |
| nobodez11-30-06, 07:06 PM | Well, now the better Urnst state is represented. The County of Urnst is now represented. We have flying (Dire Bats), "Drow", and Dark Dwarves making treaties with Paladins (we needed the Mithril). Of course, we were the first to have a civil war (stupid Nyrond), possibly the first to kill off our leader from the LGG (Poor Countess). |
