| MichaelAhlf08-21-07, 09:32 AM | At our local forums, people are leaving RPGA for good. A few say they will try LFR, but let's face it, I have to take them at face value on what they say on the matter. This thread has been established so that we as a player community can commemorate and show respect for those players/volunteers who will be leaving, even though WotC spits upon them. I invite anyone who has a story of a volunteer, or player, who is leaving and will not return in LFR to offer up their story here. ---------------- My first experience with Rob Love was just after I'd "started" playing LG. I played an abortive couple modules at A-Kon with one horrid and one great DM, brought the throwaway character I'd made for another round just to help some friends out for Mad Mad Mad God's Key, and then got an email invitation to a game run by Rob. Rob, at the time, was working hard to DM for as many people as possible. He was an amazing ambassador for the game: a stellar DM, always fair, always honest, great with roleplaying the NPC's. At the time, he was working towards applying for Grand Mastery (pity the RPGA, to this day, has never worked out setting anything above Master level up). Gameplay in the "summer of Love" as we call it was amazing - we cut our teeth on LG that summer and it was his example that showed many of us the qualities a good LG DM should have. Over the past few years, even as we've all come to higher levels and even seen characters retire, Rob's been there. He is and will always be remembered as the quintessential voice of Zezzaxitaz ("Puny Fleshbags!"), and his characters like Welby Tealeaf equally remembered by anyone who played with him. As of yesterday, he's out. Well with the death of LG. I do not like the Realms. After Gencon next year I will be done with a Living campign. I will be fair and try it but right now. I don't see myself playing or Dm's the campign. Have a good day. Robert Love Goodbye, Rob. It's a pity WotC doesn't respect volunteers like you. |
| Nuddawan08-21-07, 11:00 AM | Goodbye, Rob. It's a pity WotC doesn't respect volunteers like you. Well, I may not know Rob Love as well as you (although I've had the honor of playing with and judging for him in the past), but I'm fairly certain that if he wanted to make a noise, he is fully capable of doing it for himself, and doesn't need you showboating him as a means of pushing your particular agenda. From what you posted, it sounds like Brother Love is making the choice to leave with dignity and grace, something you are apparently incapable of. Robert Little |
| Redfist08-21-07, 11:07 AM | Michael - seriously. You need to get over it. I'm not happy about their decision either, but it's time to move on. |
| KShaver08-21-07, 11:30 AM | Give it a rest. The sky isn't falling, it isn't judgement day, and the new campaign and new rules will work just fine with the whole of like six people dropping out (of course since 3 of those naysayers are the same person then its closer to 4 people leaving)...perhaps it will be even better than it is now. |
| Redfist08-21-07, 11:39 AM | It's a safe bet that far more than 6 will drop out, but your point is still valid. The amount of melodrama about the end of LG is unhealthy for those still carting it around. |

Robert Little I invited people to post to this thread to remember others like Rob. I was HOPING to hear about more people like him from other regions. Instead, you decided to attack me for commemorating one of the best DM's I've ever known. |
| TWG_Prometheus08-21-07, 01:16 PM | MichaelAhlf, there are a lot of great DMs out there. We seriously don't need to hear about them each individually. We already know that a lot of people are upset, and we already know that fact isn't going to change anything. You also said in your original post that your DM was going to give 4th edition a try. Given that, it's a little early to be writing a requiem for them, isn't it? If you respect them so highly, allow them to make their own choice when that time actually comes. These boards are reactionary enough right now. |

These boards are reactionary enough right now. A "try" is what he said. But he, and a good number of people, are completely disinterested in the Forgotten Realms setting. I think it's in order to commemorate them. I'd rather hear about the great DM's of this campaign, the ones I've met and the ones I haven't, than not hear about them. If you don't like it? You don't have to read the thread. And you certainly don't have to flame people. |

Instead, you decided to attack me for commemorating one of the best DM's I've ever known. Under other circumstances, I would normally have been cool with that. But given your behavior on these and other forums in the last few days, its gives the impression less of commemorating them than of martyring them. And I believe that Rob Love deserves better than that. Robert Little |
| Redfist08-21-07, 01:25 PM | If your post were merely to commerate DMs, it would have been taken differently. You had an obvious not-so-hidden agenda of slamming WoTC once again. Goodbye, Rob. It's a pity WotC doesn't respect volunteers like you. Your stated goal came across as disingenuous. |
| KarmaInferno08-21-07, 01:25 PM | Dude, stop talking about leaving and just leave. -karma |

| ankhwearer08-21-07, 04:02 PM | I understand that it is hard for people to realize that 4E is going to be too different from 3.5 for the campaign to continue. But what I keep reading everywhere is blaming the end of the campaign on the choice to switch worlds. The fault for the end of the campaign lies in the need to rest to level 1, not in the abandonment of Greyhawk. But, since the campaign needs to restart, the RPGA has also made the choice to restart the campaign in the Forgotten Realms. But everywhere I read on these forums, people are lumping those two together. It frustrates me that "Forgotten Realms and the RPGA killed my LG character" are the continued cries. My response is, "No. The fact that lack of converting 3.5 characters to 4.0 is killing your character. And this gives the RPGA a chance to align the setting with what will be available for settings in the future. (Or would people really rather run Living Ebberon instead of Living Forgotten Realms?) |
| ankhwearer08-21-07, 04:04 PM | Think what you want. I can't stop you from being wrong. How can he be wrong? He stated an opinion. Or are you saying that he, in fact, stated a belief that he did not actually hold? |
| Mithreinmaethor08-21-07, 04:45 PM | Sheesh Mike I hope that you arent going to BKConqueso. I will have to pay attention to the slots and see if you sign up for any. I dont want to sit there and see your tears and look at the bandaids on your slit wrists. It wouldnt be conducive to a fun gaming experience |
| WizO_Mimir08-21-07, 04:53 PM | This thread has degenerated into nothing more than patrons attacking each other. I'm locking it. Continuing such behavior in other threads will result in warns being issued. Everyone play nice. |
